the bagels are normally fresh from the oven but if you aren't used to the traditional chewy texture then maybe you thought they were stale. I don't know about lumpy. I get the ones with smoked salmon and cream cheese and they are good for the price but certainly not a gourmet feast! It's just a tradition is all so live with it! The cheesecake is amazing - European style. Love it!
@LindaAndStephen Brick Lane, London but you try the beigels next door called "Beigal Bake" open 24/7. Their food is amaaaaaziing :)

i had the worst bagel i've ever had there... it was cold, stale and the cream cheese was lumpy uh!
