  • this is actually prince playing..

  • One of the most beautiful melodies I've ever heard.

  • die

  • It would be funny to go to Paisley Park (Prince's recording studio), bust down the door, and stomp around, hollering, "Where R U? Where R U? Answer me, m*therf*cker!" LOL!! And of course, I would have to do that little turn that Prince does in the movie right after he says that line.

  • 0:31 look at Prince with his Michael Jackson turn.lol

  • who is playing this..Prince?

  • His dad is playing the breakdown of "Computer Blue" listen during the movie and take out Prince's guitar solo.

  • I meant was that

  • Hey what that "Take Me With You" his dad was playing?

  • Vh1 blanks out the bad words. Finally I know what Prince said after he was yelling inside the house. "Answer me mother fucker!!!" Lol! XD

  • In real life Prince's dad actually said to Prince "never get married"

  • learn something new every day, i did NOT know that he used the piano part for computer blue.

    that is awesome

  • he did michael jackson twist and turn WWWWOOOOOOO HHHHOOOOOO lol hahahaha

  • hahahaha wer r u?x3 answer me mothr fucker !!!!!!

  • "NEVER GET MARRIED." Purple Rain. Serious drama in 1984. Seriously hilarious in 2011.

  • I just LOVE this song! I wish Prince would release a full version of this version!

  • This & the other scene where Prince as The Kid breaks up his parent's fights & gets smacked in the process were difficult for me to watch when this movie came out & afterward. It reminded me too much of what I was living through. My own father was an abusive alcoholic only his abusive beatings didn't stop w/Mother. He beat on me more than her then went after my younger brother until I picked fights to get his attn off my brother & to me. I didn't him w/those scars. They fade yet never disappear

  • I love Prince, I really want to watch the rest of the movie sometime!

  • Danmit!!!! why the hell can't I find this movie on youtube anywhere! btw I love that SPIN he dose after he comes in the house it's smooth :P

  • they can say what they want but this movie was a great mixture of story, music, and emotional turmoil. i think he did an awsome job, i believed his character completely. there was nothing hacky about this movie.

  • listen people on the 2 DISC DVD OF PURPLE RAIN their ata mtv party for the movie When their talking to weird al and john cougar their plauying a song is sounds like a prince song can someone help me out to know the name of the song thanks

  • he is a hottie.

  • Prince looks like he's wearing Michael Jackson's Bad suite.Lol

  • @Cherrypop513 ohh yeahh it does, Prince and Michael inspired eachother or being copycats! LOL :)

  • WHERE ARE YOU....WHERE ARE YOU....ANSWER ME MOTHER FUCKER....hahaha he's SEXY...the best part is that they have th REAL PRINCE to play himself and that just brings more heart and honesty and intrest into the movie

  • he was pist off

  • i bet his dad was scared when his 4 ft son entered the house with a girl's voice shouting: "answer me MOTHERFUCKER!" before spinning on his high-heel shoes.

  • @MustNotRead....seriously?? it's not like he was 40 when he made this movie he was still kinda young.

  • I love that spin

  • I heard his real life father actually wrote that. I'm pretty sure Prince recorded this for the actor to pretend to play along to. It has such a deeply sad yet hauntingly beautiful sound to it.

  • Answer me motherfucker is the best line of the film next to "fuck Off!"

  • ''answer me motha fucka" lol lol....classic movie. however what confuses me about this scene was how he stormed in the house like he was ready to beat the dog shit out of him but quickly calmed down when he heard him playing the piano.....his dad was a fuckin prick.

  • @Philly2dabone: lol! true. i guess he the only time he can connect with his dad is through music and when he heard his dad playing, the anger just melted away..... idk...

  • @CreeWilly that sounds about right

  • i kept hearing that some of the things in this movie are based off his real life. i never read anywhere that his father was abusive, only that he was tough when it came to teaching him music.

  • @zitalee2 He was abusive and Prince had to leave the family home to live and grow up at his aunt´s house together with Andre Cymone.. Funny thing that his aunt always said how Andres side of the room was always a mess, but Prince´s side was always super clean and tidy

  • @TheConnyB that's strange considering what they say about artists and creative people, they're always the messiest and unorganized, it might be a stereotype but it's certainly true for me. so wait prince was staying at HIS aunt's house or andre's aunt?

  • @zitalee2 actually Prince lived with his aunt alone, but later moved into the home of Bernadette Anderson (Andre´s mom).. They were sharing a room there.. Now I got it right :) it was she who said that...

  • @zitalee2 I've had a friend whose cleaned my house & organized it for me dozens of times over the yrs yet for the life of me, I can't keep it that way. I spend much of my time writing articles, beta-testing, writing reviews, and working on my novellas & novels w/many drafts. I have papers & all kinds of mess everywhere. I'm the type that wanted the full-time career w/long hours only that blew up when I lost most of my vision then later mobility &gained joint pain from lupus(SLE) & Sjogren's)

  • @zitalee2 con't It's not that I hate my kids b/c I don't; hwr, I hate not being able to work away from home. I had the sitters for day & for night as well as ones for weekends when I worked 2 & 3 to sometimes 4 jobs. I was a barmaid at night & it was great. I was tired, got little sleep, which wasn't all that since I have chronic insomnia anyhow but when I had to come home & the SAHM thing started, I felt trapped ever since. I can't afford a cleaning svc b/c can't work hrs b4 I got sick anymore

  • @PaisleyPlace wow...that's...i'm so sorry. i don't know what else i can say...

  • Can Clarence Williams III play the piano?

  • @acrestare yeah that is what I was wondering ?

  • I love this movie, and I love this scene...brings me back to 1984 when I was 13

  • answer me motherfucker haha

  • This is the bridge part of the song Computer Blue. Sounds much different with a beat behind it, but it is beautiful on piano.

  • i always wanted the piano part of this movie. the melodies go deep inside u and sends u chills. i remember i used to rewind the tape constantly to hear the song.

if there is a way to get the file, someone plz tell. i would really love to have it. =0)

  • ANSWER ME MOTHERFUCKER...SPINS LOL

  • LOL

  • @deice072189 Lmfao!

  • @deice072189 HA HA HA he did a zoolander with that spin.

  • omg i love the where are you?!

  • the demo tape prince plays in the scene before this.....WHERE IS IT???

  • this song is a really hard song to learn by ear I have all the right hand fingering notes its the left hand that doe not know where to go???? any one know the chords?

  • This part of the movie always messed with my head in a profound way.

  • Good ol California to start off this video.

  • whats the name of the song his father plays please help

  • That's the bridge to "Computer Blue" I had to keep listening and even pull my Ipod out to listen through the CD but I 100% sure now, Its Computer Blue.

Let me know when you master the piano version.

    Peace,

    Uplifttherace

  • well is there anywhere i could go to download the song..just the piano version and thanks for your help

  • its called Father's Song it was made my his father and he used it in computer blue

  • Favorite part of this movie... i rewinded the tape all day to try to learn this part on the piano...

  • @lightning221 OMG, me too.

  • @lightning221 this is my favorite part too. love it. i first saw this movie last year and still can get enough. btw im only 13

  • @lightning221 I think everyone does. I'm doing it right now! LOL

  • Prince should get some credit for his acting. The spin move he did in this clip was crazy though. lol. Thanks for the sharing. One of my favorite movies of all-time.

  • Some critics tough he was a good candidated for acting at the Oscars, I think it was on the San Diego Union Tribune that say that his performance was like Brando in the Wild One.

My favorite scene was when he ripped all those music notes. Very powerfull shit. Best movie ever.

  • @powersoulboy yeah usually singers who transition into acting aren't very good but prince is wonderful in this.
