you know you can just use VLC and right click and choose more buttons or whatever it is put dvd in and than go record. than while it is recording (i takes as long as the movie dose to record) download Format Factory. when recording is done it will show up in your My Documents and than put it through Format Factory and choose what format you want it an it will compact the file and make it smaller depending on what format you choose will depend on the quallity

HandBrake is a dreadful program to use, very unreliable. It's much better to use DVDFab HD Decrypter, and AutoGK for ripping DVDs to .avi files

Besides, with all the crypted codes music- and movie companies use to protect their products, it is not inconciveable that future discs, computers and recorders will contain some sort of codingdevice that will relate to each other, but not to other programes downloaded from the internet, so that computer manufactures only would get the right codes if they guaranteed the content couldn`t be ripped or duplicated. Handbreak is a good name! 10-12 hours!? My laptop rip a DVD in a few mins - without any additional software. I just put the DVD disc into the laptop, let it load, and when that is done, doubleclick on the DVD soft option. The content of the DVD in coded form appear. So I look for the largest files, where the actual movie is, copy one (in XP a 50 min TV ep comes in 3 parts) and leave. Enter my laptop library and my video files, click paste, and a few mins later - done. Your VLC handles VOB files.

I can rip a DVD, make it into an M4V file for anything, and burn the ISO version of it to anotther DVD in less than 45 minutes. Either you have a REALLY slow Mac, or Mac's just suck at this in general. I'm guessing it's the first. Good video though, thanks :)

kolfanfan.....they dont make a 64 vlc...u need to download the handbrake 32 bit and the vlc 32 bit...itll work fine. just make sure ur downloading the right one..you can go up to your apple button at the top left hand corner click on "about this mac" and then "more info" and ittlll tell you if you have an intel or something else. and just make sure u get the one that ur computers compatible with....
