You can disregard my prior question about the camera being mounted in a dome or not, as I now see others also inquired and you already replied to these questions.
I would have simply deleted my comment but apparently the ability to delete your own comment was disabled in this particular thread.
I have a rear screened-in porch I am considering mounting the current model to the ceiling as you have (model FI8910W). I think it would work well since it would be even better protected than yours is.
I have this camera and the audio is terrible for me.. Tons of clicks and weird sounds when I try to listen to audio on my phone from the camera.. Any ideas?
Hey, I am thinking of getting this for the outside in New Jersey (sub 32 winters, hot humid summer). Do you know how well it does in weather? If I have it it a pretty covered area, will it be okay? I can't seem to find any information on that. thanks! excellent video
@chazscheiny It's an indoor camera so if you use it outside you do so (as I have) at your own peril. Mine's been going strong for almost a year now. Just make sure that it is covered. Water will jack the electronics for sure.
@wealthyaffiliaterev the purple colors are due to a lack of an IR Cut off filter - The new model Foscam FI8910W (replaced FI8918W) has the IR cut filter which will give and accurately colored images.
@kolabar Thanks. The color doesn't bother me. I prefer it to work in the dark then have perfect color reproduction. Wish it would have a sensor that automatically toggles the IR based on available light.
@leeroybrowns I've had it outside under my porch for the last 10 months and it still works fine. I get all four seasons where I live and so far it is holding up.
@PeruMaterial No, just to set it up. After that the thing works on its own.
Since it's an IP camera it is it's own computer and can be accessed through any web browser. As long as it has a network connection and power it will run. If you want to access it outside your network (from the Internet) then the network connection must also include internet access.
@wealthyaffiliaterev I understand, I'm considering buying one for my house, but I want to use the indoor version outside of my house, so I can pan &tilt. I think I may have to protect it somehow ?, thanks for all***
Good review! Imagine some undesirable person at your door and you tell them to piss off from miles away. Foscam is definitely my camera of choice and I will buy one. Thanks for the review.
Anyone know any good microphones that work with this unit? I have tested several 3.5mm ones and have had no luck. Audio works as long as a mic isn't plugged in.
Hi there. I'm from Brazil and just installed my foscam FI8918W. Tks for the great demonstration. If you don`t mind, I wold like to ask something. From my PC i havo no problem listening to the audio on IE. Is it possible to do the same on SAFARI or Google Chrome? And what about the iPhone? I can see the video and pan the camera. But I cannot listen to the audio as well. Could you gif me some help?
@OrlieT@OrlieT its an app called IP Cam Viewer by Robert Chou (android). You have to buy the full version to get sound but there is a FREE Lite version with basic video feed and controls. Its nice but I'm having issues with the audio. I think its the cameras fault and not the app ( but i could be wrong). Other users have reported the same issue on forums. (specifically, is a clicking/crackling sound when you try and speak into your phone for output from the camera)
@sakuluci The sound on my Foscam stinks. It says F18918W on the box but there's no model on the camera, I wonder if its the older one. I get a really bad reverb and it gets into a loop that goes louder and louder. Do you have this problem? If I shut the mic on the cam when I talk thru the IE browser on pc its not terrible but the audio is indeed crackly. I have a blackberry and use totalcontrolapp for viewing on the phone but it doesn't do sound. Meh. Thanks for your reply.
i need some help, when i installed my foscam ip camera, i was able to forward the port and make it work but the problem is it only works on port 8080 if i use any other port it will not work at all, i.e if i try to connect it from other location it will just not load the page, i am using windows xp. i was able to connect to ip camera form another location when i was using port 8080 but as soon as i change it to another port it will not work, please help
I have 3 of these and I can't get ANY of them to show video in Internet Explorer 9 to save my life.

Do you have the camera contained inside a dome or is it simply mounted to the ceiling of the entry way?
If no dome is used, do you ever have any issues with it in terms of moisture?
WelshWidgetMan2O1O 2 weeks ago
@WelshWidgetMan2O1O No dome. Camera is mounted outside under a roof. It's been about 11 months now and so far so good. Your mileage may vary.

Just kidding. Colors are clearly off. I am not wearing a purple shirt either.

You are correct. The unit is designed for indoor use and is not waterproof.
I have mine mounted outside on my porch which is covered.
