Haters. Not every horse is going to be trained the way you train. Get over it. It's really annoying seeing people comment on videos on a discipline they don't know and saying they're doing it wrong. Get over yourselves.
This rider should train more like academic riding, then this horse would use more his backleggs because his weight is more balanced and that would be better for his whole body. i don't know how this rider did it but he's got a horse that's only wants to please him and i don't think this horse likes doing this. Ohh, and those spurs.... I don't have a good word for that!!! AWFULL!!!!
I think at the beginning, they are training for a Piaffe.. but the rider can't explain the horse what he wants it to do.. anyway, I'm sure, the Horse would be glad if it had a little bit of recreation during the lesson.. then it would be better.
Anyway, very beautiful horse. But don't aggress the rider so much, I can't see that he's hitting the horse.. I just think he's a bit too ambitious ;)

By the way, what is collection? Collection begins in the mind and not in the movement. I just believe, that this is horse is high sensitive. A horse which is not ready in his mind, cannot proper collect...
Beautiful horse, but I have to agree with oranowisc. There was a lot of basic training missing. He has no rhythm and he's very heavy on the forehand. It looked very sloppy. I'd love to see him again after about a year of proper training.

not dressage movements, spanish dancing... it's basically super complicated and painful for a dressage rider to watch because it mimics and destroys the movements they know so well lol. at 1:35 this horse KINDA switches off his forehand a little! i hate watching his rear kick from side to side... a result of over-exaggerated and poorly taught cues, i assume...
