There was another video PIF on here last year that seems to have been taken down that was similar. Something explaining all the possible displays on the warning signs. Does anybody else remember it or can post it?
Theres a similar one narrated by Richard Baker explaining the meaning of motorway signs. Sure its on here; if not its on the "Charley Says" DVD of PIFs.
Its void now as the old symbols on the matrixes have been replaced so it'll never be shown again.
That's cool and kinda sad at the same time. I thought that old symbology of yours was unique and quite satisfying. Oh well off to have a look at what the new symbols are...
@RobinCarmody I remember seeing it on a closedown around 99 or 2000 too. Stood out like a herring in a jockstrap. And it was vaguely spooky because Troughton was well over a decade dead.
@Applemask was that the night of the Kensington & Chelsea by-election? It was definitely shown then - by that time, BBC1 wasn't closing down as such, but some of the old ceremonial survived for the first couple of years of the News 24 handover. It's also on a November 1978 closedown I have. I'll also never be able to think of the 'Think Ahead and Break Gently' PIF without thinking of Callaghan's "there will be no general election at this time" speech, as it was on the closedown that night.
@RobinCarmody I don't know if it was the night of the Kensington and Chelsea by-election, but it's entirely possible. It was certainly a News 24 handover. The one I saw most often on closedowns in them days was "Cold Snaps". In mid-July even.
I's an aerial for communications. This is an old film, you know. As for the speed limit, I think the idea is that there's an accident in the fog that...oh I don't know.
I never realised that was Patrick Troughton.

I love how cocky the man looks at the beginning.

I love the begining with the animal spitting out the guy's bones. The guy reminds me of moon man, from the book moon man

This was shown on BBC1 as recently as the night Michael Portillo returned to parliament (Nov 1999).
