ADHD is a ridiculous diagnosis. I mean, sure, people do have problems, but we don't need to tell em that they're not "normal" based off of a "lack of concentration". Figure it out, and find a way to motivate yourself to get the job done. I'm not trying to sound like a dick, but you need to realize that the big pharmaceutical corporations are just trying to drug you, and take away your personality, and sense of purpose. Find something that you love and stick with it...that's the best motivator.

I took an online test on how ADHD/ADD i was and note, im only 12, and it said i have ADULT ADD . thing is, i never stop daydreaming EVER and i know im smart but my grades are like f's because i dont pay attention. to make it worse i have a fear of taking attention pills and the thing my mom puts in my water doesnt work so thats no good
Guys.. If you really think about it. ADHD is actually an advantage, it just means that youre actually quite smart but youre just not able to focus. You can do so many more things at once, slow things down, work under pressure, usually have a lot of friends etc etc. So.. once you learn to take control over it either by Medication or Yoga or whatever, you can actually use your brain:) Trust me, I have ADHD and im doing Yoga and taking Concerta, my grades are flying now. So dont be sad guys:)
When I was growing up we didn't have ADHD. If we didn't do what we were supposed to do we got a spanking. We quickly learned what was appropriate behaviour. Now they put a 'label' on everything and throw a pill at it. It is easier to drug your kid than to take the time to pay attention to them. We also feed then so many chemically enhanced foods. Get back to natural foods and home cooking.

@BettyJo2u i think youre oversimplyfying it. adhd is a complex neurological disorder. adhd isnt typically caused by "bad parenting". ppl with adhd tend to have problems, such as an inability to organize, that cannot be solved by home cooking and being paid attention to (though an understanding parent is helpful in developing coping skills).
I just came up with a new disorder.. it's called Elipsempathiakoinonikoidioteleia. Symptoms are associated with lack of empathy and selfishness that is onset in a group of individuals. Outcomes may impede the progress of society, and I recommend that all children under the age of 12 years be tested and treated with THC extract pills for the rest of their adolescence, and in adulthood at some reduced dosage to maintain its effects. Don't all thank me at once for making the world a 'better place'

i think if a kid is NOT jumping around, and figiting around, there is a problom...a child should be able to have fun...but then again...if the child is acting up WAY out of line, he should be beat, not givin pills...if a kid is NOT a day dreamer, theres a problem....
The reason it is a gift is because I read very quickly through books and often get ahead of others. It can also be a curse when I often miss something that others have seen. Ignoring it and being in denial can only make it worse.

@stefnett and always stress putting things back where they belong. the most important thing you can do is to always be her advocate. never give up. shell thank you when shes older.
@stefnett work with her on whatever she struggle with. if she has trouble in school, spend a little more time on homework (my parents made me study every single night) if its behavior thats the problem, teach her ways to calm down when shes boiled (counting backwards from 10 always helped me). if its organization thats getting to her, you may have to pick up the slack, and in the meantime, maybe get some organization baskets to help keep everything straight,
I did a for page research paper on ADHD it was so cool to learn about it!! I did find out sad that even with the medicine, there is no actual cure for ADHD. And even though they say you won't have good grades if you have ADHD. I've still scored one of the highest math percentages in my school and I've never had a grade below a B.
Even though it makes me talk a lot and most people don't like me because of it, I'm glad at ADHD. For one being more creative helps me with my book and story ideas. I love having ADHD, and I think no one should be ashamed to have it.

So yes, you can get a fine education even tho you have ADD or ADHD tho you will never be a top student with the best grades regardless of how much work you put in it... Another typically thing with people who has ADD and ADHD is that they often have bad self-confidence and avoid good jobs that they are capable of handling because they don't believe in them selves.

Im 13, I can be really smart with some things and I'm ADHD, I got diagnosed when I was 12 after a teacher complained, my moms ADD but I really don't feel like this is a disorder, Im insainly creative and can write a 26 lined poem in 2 -5 minutes, I got strait As in the arts this year but I suck at math, but school is a pain because I'm always tapping or talking or daydreaming XD

I see reactions such as "you learn to control it, so you outgrow it" this is not entirely true. If you put 6 ppl in an elevator and you tell 5 of them to take off their hats every time the elevator stops, the sixth will eventually also do it. So he takes on another role in order to fit in. This also happens with ADHD'ers, they take roles to be accepted by the society, they aren't cured AT ALL.

ADHD in the intellectual sense (which necessarily impacts behavior) is merely a different way in which some people are born to acquire knowledge - that's it. I've had ADHD since childhood and finally figured out and come to understand, by the grace of the Lord, exactly what it is. It's NOT a 'disorder' - only a different way of processing/acquiring knowledge.
u always think ahead of how something works or what is going to happen, my math teacher gets so pissed at me sometimes. and u can read people like a flipn book jus by how they say a couple sentences, its not even funny. but it does suk, u get extremelly depressed somtimes. its like being in a different world, no one besides people with HD ADD and ADHD can even comprehend how u think

As @mypokemo says it's a gift/curse. I have to work really hard not to interrupt people when we're all talking. I have to work all the time to think about who I'm talking to and where we are talking BEFORE I open my mouth. Impulsiveness is difficult to deal with. I come off as immature when I forget my meds, when in fact I know I'm mature deep down.
It's a gift because I get to think on a different track than others. I feel I'm a more creative person because of ADHD.

I have it, and my biggest obstacle is people in authority who can't accept it. I can multitask easily if I'm not bothered too much. Interrupt me enough and I get very agitated.

Some meds that were shoved up my head by asshole doctors!
1. Ritalin 10 mg. Didn't help much only Incarcerated my mind for 4 hrs
2. Ritalin SR 20 mg. Incarcerated my mind longer
3. Entumin 40 mg (took half). This fucking pill can take down an Elephant.

I did a for page research paper on ADHD it was so cool to learn about it!! I did find out sad that even with the medicine, there is no actual cure for ADHD. And even though they say you won't have good grades if you have ADHD. I've still scored one of the highest math percentages in my school and I've never had a grade below a B.

Even though it makes me talk a lot and most people don't like me because of it, I'm glad at ADHD. For one being more creative helps me with my book and story ideas. I love having ADHD, and I think no one should be ashamed to have it.

@thegeekproductions you mean a lawyer? I got ADHD and I'm studying at the business admin. at a university in Denmark. So yes, you can get a fine education even tho you have ADD or ADHD tho you will never be a top student with the best grades regardless of how much work you put in it... Another typically thing with people who has ADD and ADHD is that they often have bad self-confidence and avoid good jobs that they are capable of handling because they don't believe in them selves.

You cannot grow out of ADHD, some of the symptoms that shows from a child with ADD or ADHD might seem to recover or get better when they become older. But they people with ADD/ADHD will continuesly have problems and the symptoms from childhood that fades, only fades because the symptoms change into other types of symptoms.

Im 13, I can be really smart with some things and I'm ADHD, I got diagnosed when I was 12 after a teacher complained, my moms ADD but I really don't feel like this is a disorder, Im insainly creative and can write a 26 lined poem in 2 -5 minutes, I got strait As in the arts this year but I suck at math, but school is a pain because I'm always tapping or talking or daydreaming XD

I see reactions such as "you learn to control it, so you outgrow it" this is not entirely true. If you put 6 ppl in an elevator and you tell 5 of them to take off their hats every time the elevator stops, the sixth will eventually also do it. So he takes on another role in order to fit in. This also happens with ADHD'ers, they take roles to be accepted by the society, they aren't cured AT ALL.

Don't know if i have ADHD,i have high hyperactivity, but my attention in class seems to go really fast, i can go into the class and go "IM GONNA DO WELL TODAY" and then one thing is said and im off on a daydream about that thing, i can be trying to take in the information off the white board but it never goes in, really i'd be thinking like what happens if plant cell burst! would it go everywhere, how would it feel, ill try imagine all of that, even the feeling.

I've had ADHD since childhood and finally figured out and come to understand, by the grace of the Lord, exactly what it is. As @mypokemo says it's a gift/curse. I have to work really hard not to interrupt people when we're all talking. I have to work all the time to think about who I'm talking to and where we are talking BEFORE I open my mouth. Impulsiveness is difficult to deal with. I come off as immature when I forget my meds, when in fact I know I'm mature deep down.
It's a gift because I get to think on a different track than others. I feel I'm a more creative person because of ADHD.

I have ADHD and studying it extensively since I was diagnosed 5 yrs ago -I'm 40ish. THIS VIDEO is full of errors and poor word choices. My blood boiled at SUFFERERS! Maybe teachers with ADHD kids in class are SUFFERING but the kids themselves? And DIET has been disproved to help?! B.S. "Is really hyperactive" - not necessarily. It's not a disorder. It's a gift. The ones who learn to control it end up being highly successful and leaders in their community. I have it, and my biggest obstacle is people in authority who can't accept it. I can multitask easily if I'm not bothered too much. Interrupt me enough and I get very agitated.
