To everybody wondering what anime this is, it's Macross Frontier. This video is based on the 25 episode TV series. There is also an alternate retelling which is split into two movies of about 2 hours each. Personally I like the TV version better. And for people wondering if you need to watch the previous Macross series to understand this, the answer is NO. It's pretty much like it's own separate show just based on the Macross universe.
