  • wow she is so hot also!

  • Where can i get a digital copy of this track?

  • Hi, do anyone know what model of looper she uses ??

  • well, the music is art. The comments- not so much.

  • peebzzz, the fact that u'r a f**kin retard dont have anythin to do with a beautiful piece of music. N yea, gay ppl shouldn't be allowed to have kids, the very idea is f***ed up n also, if we're talkin in context of science, it's against natural law. so u better shut ur piehole.

  • this is why we CAN have Nice Things! :3

  • all those negitive comments shouldnt be here. Kaki king is very talented. She works hard at what she does. Kaki king is amazing.

  • Can anyone shed some light on how she is making the shaker sound on that lap steel guitar? Is it retrofitted with a midi pickup/trigger?

  • @chriscauldermusic i think its just for the video.

  • Aside from all the talk of gay rights and what "causes" homosexuality:

this song is fantastic! Kaki King is so a beautiful musician.

  • FYI,Kaki king is playing the ORIGINAL (Hawaiian or lap steel) electric guitar....from

WAY back in the day. The vibrations of this instrument, coincidentally, are VERY

    sexual,LOL!!

  • Det er smukt

  • A study (Mothers of male homosexuals) show that most gay men have had a bad relationship with their mothers! Google the study! It shows that being gay is learned!

  • @Bestmanme08 Obviously you are not a social scientist..it's just a spurious correlation because they have bad relationships with their mothers BECAUSE they are gay which is caused by a role model and identity conflict between the parent's and the homosexual child's views..also this "study" is based on a 135 men survey from 1979 and "just" a PhD paper of a random psychologist..you probably can find 2356 other PhD papers with exactly the opposite conclusion based on a better database.. :)

  • As a gay son raised by lesbian mothers this song is pretty awesome lol

  • That was a great peice of work!

  • And of course there would be some dumb bigots making a huge fucking deal about the title.

  • What is the name of this musical instruments ?

  • @rt258593 Lap Steel Guitar, saw one the other day in the local music store. I was so tempted to buy one.

  • I loved how she also played it like this live :]

    so beautiful =]

  • perfectly to chill out

  • i like how this song is so chiling lin

  • Very soothing song, love the way she plays that lapsteel-guitar-thing I never heard of before, and I love the title too.

  • that'sawesome

  • Despite some of the negative comments, this is a very nice piece by an extremely talented young lady.

  • If that doesn't make people fall in love with the lapsteel, I don't know what will.

  • @probablypike

I just felt in love with the lap steel :). That thing is not expensive at all. You know if she's playing it through a midi channel?

  • tune strings??

  • I agree with Lorele

  • Gorgeous - end of!!!

  • Sounds good to me...very relaxed.

  • sounds like a commercial for white computer paper...

  • That's why it's so good.

  • Ears can't read.

Some songs are simple and good at the same time.

  • she is incredible.

  • This is awesome :O

  • holy sh!!!

  • bravo

  • Love it

  • I've heard this track a hundred times but had NO clue it was played like this!

  • i love you ,from mexico

  • i love it!!

  • Comment removed

  • I like it! :D

  • UM i am loving this instrument - what is it please?

  • its a blastophone

  • isn't that a lap steel guitar?

  • good stuff.

  • linda

  • peebzzz is ХУЙ БЛЯТЬ ЕБАНЫЙ ТУПИЦА СУКА ПИДРАСИНА ЕБУЧАЯ!!!

  • Good music and a catchy title.... gets the twits twittering

  • Great music!

  • Man you guys are all f'ed up. It's the name of a song, who knows what it means to her. It's beautiful and you really need to shut the hell up.

  • i dont even think about name cool song

  • I really love this song.. Kaki King is awesome.

  • Wow! Kaki King you are such a talented musician. I'd be happy if I could play guitar half as well as this. Great work!

  • you sexist ass. i'm not even gay, but i hate the shit out of you.

  • This is bull shit. I didn't have a father growing up and I'm getting married in 6 months to the woman of my dreams.

  • So what if the kid becomes gay. It doesnt mean lesbians "shouldn't" have kids.

  • some "facts of life" are just dressed up opinions that someone never took the time to really ponder.

heterosexuality alone doesn't automatically make good parents. maybe your not a sexist, 'only' heterosexist or homophobic... i would be thrilled if you found some straight kids of queer parents to talk to and ask them how they see their situation - even if it meant that you would have to let go of one of your hard found facts of life. all the best!

  • Bollox. What about all the straight couples that have gay kids? And what about kids with only one parent?

Sexuality is fluid. It shouldn't be limited by small minded people like you. Homosexuality has been around for as long as heterosexuality and it isn't going to go away by stopping the gays from having kids. Grow up.

  • @peebzzz This is without a doubt the most intelligent thing I have ever read on the internet. Bless you sir.

  • becauze we all know that straight parents only make straight kids. What an ass.

  • lovely.

  • she is the only woman in the rolling stones guitar gods

    she's a genius

  • Somehow, I have a hard time believing she did both drumbeats and maracas with a piece of lapsteel. Wish she would've left the fake handmovements out of it.

    Or maybe I'm wrong?

  • you are very wrong, you can make all kinds of effects with the right equipment, this kind of thing is what Kaki is known for

  • The title may or may not be significant.

All the "Issues" certainly are... w/e

Kaki's Music makes this "straight" man cry

for its Beauty and Creativity. OMG Kaki,

you are welcome to play any of my Guitars

any time You please! They would be as

    tickled as I would be!

  • i second this! i would be happy to have kaki play my ovation any day =D

  • Wtf shouldn't this be about Kaki King's amazing musical ability rather than...what ever the bloody hell you's are talking about...

  • with a title like that what can you expect

  • People to stop being such narrow minded pricks and listen to the music?

  • If Kaki puts as much thought into her song titles as her songs then I'm sure there's a story behind it. It's just lost on most of us.

So, like wolverine005 says, sit back and enjoy.

  • i just purchased this song via itunes. awesome sound. first time hearing this music...became aware because of a picture i saw on flickr. is a small world after all.

  • welll ANYWAYS

    this song is entrancing

  • what a lovely song.

yea i used the word 'lovely'.

  • Hi, I'm Hzqi and I'm a feminism survivor *blushes*.

Some are more the product of their environment, others the product of themselves. The former, are basically screwed. They are informed by a world that tells them that what they are, is the cause of all things bad, and that they themselves, are all things bad, and the best thign they can do is admit their failure like a sin inherited from Eve, and redeem themselves by conforming to the idiocy that is presume of them in good humour.

    BS.

  • It is said that we average people are closer in intellect and cognition to the lower primates than we are to the greatest minds of history:

    Aristotle

    Alexander

then for a long time there was no one (kidding)

    And now, Kaki King!!

Seriously though, she has an amazing musical vision. If it weren't so complex, I'd almost say she makes it look easy.

  • I pity you. Go read a poem.

  • Poetry -- now you're talking. Give me Walt Whitman anyday over this. Now, THERE was a gay man!

  • Alright....well, although I respect your opinion (and my previous comment didn't reflect that), I must ask because I wonder - do you also find artwork boring if it doesn't have words?

  • I'm not a word-based person per se. In fact, I'm a musician. I have no problem with no lyrics -- or even bad lyrics, if the music moves me. But I find this particular music monotonous, kind of like hip elevator music. With respect to artwork (I assume you mean visual artwork), personally I prefer no words, because images speak for themselves. But again, it depends on the artist and how well they integrate text into the image. There are no absolutes in art.

  • Ah. Well, in that case, I apologize for my initial response - I mistakenly thought that you were one of those people who don't appreciate the subjective qualities of art or music. Some people fixate on lyrics to the point that they ignore everything else - and honestly, I kinda can't stand that. :P (Hence the "go read a poem" comment - if the music holds no meaning for you, you might as well just read the lyrics, right?)

I guess I'm done, then. :-) *slinks away*

  • LOL. It's easy to misinterpret written comments. Actually, I'm one of those weird people who listens to music in languages I don't understand, like Gaelic or Portuguese, so that the voice becomes a pure instrument.

BTW, people who have to fixate on lyrics to enjoy music really should just go read a poem. ; )

  • You aren't weird - because that would, then, make me weird too. :P Detachment from language allows you to focus (or drift, as I do) completely on the music itself. I listen to songs in Portuguese as well, and some stuff in Spanish...and there's an artist I like, Oliver Mtukudzi, and I think he sings in an African language? I dunno. But yeah, you aren't weird at all.

  • what tunning is the guitar in

  • jing-ji-jing.. doom.. do doom... yay!

  • Magical song.

  • whoa! i'm in love.

  • OMG this woman is so versatile and talented it's just sick!:o i'm really impressed.

And the song is unbelievably addictive and also great video it's cool that we get to see this extraordinary process of making such a great music. love it!

  • Kaki King is one of my favourite guitarists. She has amazing talent. I'd rather listen to her than Taylor Swift or the Jonas Brothers any day.

  • what is this instrument called?

  • a steel guitar, usually they are used in country music.

  • really? i thought it was a modified version of a lap steel - she is getting sounds and textures out of it like parts would be synthetized. especially the part she plays with her picking (right) hand. like from 2:10 to 2:40. gah, anyways, she's amazing :)

  • How many ignorant people are here... But who cares if the music is so awesome!

  • Because sperm donors and vitro doesn't exist!

    ...oh.

    Wait.

    It DOES.

  • Sperm donor. The feminist euphemism for men. It's kind of all they're good for. Well, that and well, inventing shit like vitro fertility, and er, being the sons of lesbian mothers.

  • What is the point you're trying to make?

  • That feministic women like to be reductive about the importance of men, while exploiting the benifit of achievements made, by men.

  • You fuck ass, I am not that much of a feminist. It's just the term the industry uses to denote men who willingly donate sperm for women.

And, honestly, shut your fucking hole, bitch. Men ain't that awesome. Exhibit A: Hilter. Exhibit B: You.

  • No, men only created the civilzation that allowed the infrastructure they created, to support the technology that they created for you to send your man-hate bile.

    Let's try your tact:

    Women are awesome.

    Exhibit A: Erzsébet Báthory

    Exhibit B: You.

PS. Godwin would be proud. Record time there dumbass.

  • if women were able to have an education sooner in history then mabey the "fruits" would have been made by woman

  • First of all, not all cultures have oppressed the minds of women, "throughout history". And some religious cultures still oppress the minds of women today. The point of the latter? Using chronology to generalise is dubious. Secondly, they've had plenty of say in their extent of involvement of social endeavours over the aeons. How do you think education was formed? Cave-persons found a text-book? Who wrote them?

And, er, you are aware the Internet is a recent endeavour?

  • So you would wheel out the old "opportunity" chest nut eh? So what's the hold up now? Western women are nutured and prodded by every affirmative action, sexist advantage imaginable, and the breakthroughs still come from....

Hmmm, videogames? It's still a favourite among retarded women today, to cite videogames as a sign of immaturity among men. Will we have to endure whining about education in 50 years, to explain why this field was forged and formed, by men?

    Kaki plays a male invention...

  • Interesting...historically men have been innovators while women sat on their asses and did God knows what, That's pretty much a fact, the question though is whether this is due to genetics or social coditioning. However, since the sample pool of great men is so small it's almost impossible to prove either way. So really, who cares, 99.99% of people are useless eaters anyway. There 's no point in arguing over something that has no relevence to your life.

  • The very highest tier of intelligence is held by men. Just below that and through the median is held by women. Below that, the vast majority of idiots are men.

  • That's not my experience. And it's always interesting to consider the causality of your observation. Women like to claim victim status for their plights, but men are the makings of their own morondom. I know for a fact that women are the making of many male morons. But how many? Feminism has fucked the school system for boys. Girls prize "bad boys", which inspires young guys who foolishly embark on tours of deference to foolishly appeal to young girls.

And TV is a role model wasteland. Why?

  • A large proportion of my male friends get sick to death of attempting to conduct conversations the revolve outside the sphere of families, puppies and lavender essence. Women very fucking arrogantly presume that their subjects of choice are THOSE of merit, and I've witnessed it relentlessly, that they either shut off universal topics, or when they DO accomodate it, act as if they Mother fucking Theresa for actually having the manners to engage or "tolerate" a topic.

  • You say that the median is held by women, but the median of what? Have you ever seen the university entries and the grade points of boys that are educated AWAY from schools (femnist dictatorships)? The female advantage vanishes like so much ideological bullshit. The biggest mistake men ever make, is subscribing to the bewilder filter doctrine of womyn. It's always to their own demise. They need to adhere to the merit of fairness.

That "vast majority" of men are being turned into idiots.

  • What? Women weren't allowed to do anything in throughout Western history! They weren't allowed to obtain the same education that men were, they were treated as property, and generally denied the same rights as men, such as the right to vote. That being said, women have come back from that won Nobel prizes and Pulitzers and such. It was a matter of finally being allowed the opportunity.

  • Even if men were controlling education, whose learning were they controlling? Passed on from man to man. What was stopping the women from commencing their own independent lines of learned dissemination? The shoulders the women are now standing in education, are male shoulders. And the future ones will be mostly too. Funny you mention Nobel prizes. Women have won three in physics since Marie Curie. Can guess how many men have won? Women are usually too busy MOCKING innovators. Videogames anyone?

  • Dude seriously, have you even looked at the history of this? Women couldn't start their own learning institutions because they had no rights to do so, society simply wouldn't let them. Obviously men have won more Nobel prizes, I'm not doubting that, and also, I'm a *girl* who plays video games. If the men started the base of education, that's great, I'm grateful for everything that's come of it, but now everybody needs to carry that forward, men and women.

  • Not all cultures have, but a vast majority of the ones that directly influenced western society and yours did suppress the minds of women. Education was basically formed by men because men were the only ones allowed to pursue higher forms of it as civilizations were established. Take Europe for example, the monasteries were centers of learning before universities there, and only men were allowed to become monks. Lots of women are enrolled in universities now, are PhD holders, researchers, etc

  • There is a contradiction in what you've said. It was "formed by men" because they were the only ones allowed to pursue it. That's a false connection. If you're doing the FORMING then you don't have to pursue. That's right. THE FORMING. Right or wrong, it's a history with both genders to keep wares to themselves. They're not about to tell men what they yammer about in the bathroom. People have very simple minded ideas about how history can progress. If THEY do the forming, you CAN'T suppress.

  • not what I expected with that title - where are the gay dancing men? hahha

  • Wow. Just an incredible song.

And it's all her...I think. Does she do the drum beat as well? Anyone know?

    Fucking awesome

  • yeah, the drum is her also

  • yea, its all her. shes incredible.

  • If you you watch carefully, you'll see a isntrument on her lap. The Music comes all from this thing. It's some kind of synthesizer and loop. Love this girl. Awesome.

  • How does she play with nails that long? If I dont cut my nails every 1-2 days then i can hardly play. Such an amazing artist and guitarist. so whatever shes doing is working lol. KEEP IT UP! =]

  • maybe it means

    "son of a bitch"

    im just saying

  • wow, she's amazing. I just don't understand why this song is called 'gay sons of lesbian mothers'.

    Does anyone know why?

  • No clue, but this stuff is amazing.

  • why's an apple called apple? it's just a name.

  • maybe's it's just an alternative for daughters of mothers and just puts that question to your head... "why that title?"

  • Supposed to be ironic.

  • She is amazing, her music moves me in all directions possible. That is the absolute best feeling music can give you on my opinion.

  • Comment removed

  • There are some guitar players that are good and there are some guitar players that are really fucking good. And then there's Kaki King. comment made by Dave Grohl , who says it best.. What an amazing musician...

  • Dear odiwan74: I have no words to describe how great Kaki is....Rolling Stone naming her their first female "Guitar God" is a good starting point....despite the authority of Dave Grohl, who has well deserved stature, the generic compliment: "What an amazing musician...." does not even say it well, let alone best.

  • love this song

  • hell I really like this. What an awesome artist. My number one personal favourite musician is buckethead, but this girl was freaking great.

  • she is an amazing musician. one of my favourite guitar players.

  • ahahhaha crippledretardo :P

  • Yep

  • she does. it's a massacre.

  • maybe if they're into that lol .

  • Nice fake drums..... Call a drummer, I'm sure they'd love to come and play for you.

  • I think she was going for an electronic sound. She surely could get a drummer if she needed one.

  • I think she was going for an electronic sound. She surely could get a drummer if she needed one. Or she could drum herself and loop it in...she's been playing since she was really young.

  • She has a drummer. See her live. Then try to be an ass.

  • Furthermore she is a drummer, before she played the guitar or sang

  • I loved this song but i don't know what's name of this instrument? Is this some kind of guitar or variant something?

  • She's playing a lap steel guitar and looping it with what seems to be an Echoplex EDP. I think that's the footpedal she is using. Great stuff and a most inspiring musician! We love you Kaki! :-)

  • lol i was watching this all mesmerized and crap..

    good stuff.

  • this makes my heart go faster.. never heard anything like this before

kaki king makes my day :)

  • i was actually thinking about getting a lap steel just for the hell of it because of this song.

  • this song is the sound of me drifting off into dreamland. I'm running through a forest and there's snow on the ground, looking around at the snowflakes falling from the sky. It's great to be alive

  • Kaki can get her jam on. she rocks

  • Yays I'm gay and my mom is a lesbain :-)

  • excellente maitrise !

  • this is amazing

  • This sounds as an "indie" version of Chris Squire's "The Fish" with a very silly title.

  • hmmmmm i really dont see it

  • What's so silly about the title?

  • brilliant.

  • this song is loopy... hahaha i made a puny

  • You my friend.

    Are the god of puns.

  • please tell me the point of the title to this song. there are no lyrics to go with it so why?

  • Got your attention, didn't it?
