I just came back from a week of lessons in Finland on carving and definitely do a pole plant before put your arms in front of you ( almost so it feels a bit stupid for the first wee while and lean forward more, I'm not brilliant but doing those things helped
hey dude, you are a good skier, I think some gate training would bring you along massively. Be careful with your hands/arms, there's a lot of swinging going on there, keep them steady in front of you (hold that tray still!), dragging your hand on the snow will only cause banking in the turn and possible overbalance. Its fun for a laugh bit do not make a habit out of it.
I'd also like to see more leg extension, feet a little wider apart (open for debate), your ass is sitting back, dude, be care
Well this is an old video so you've probably heard this 1,000 times already but... You're fairly backseat.. If you hold your hands directly in front of you it should help to correct that. The knuckle dragging and throwing yourself into the turns with your upper body throws you off completely. Upper body quiet, with hands in front, and you will be a master... ;)
seems like youre pretty pumped on skiing, thats always the best start
-dont dip your shoulders
-pole plant before each turn, and in doing so, step out of your turn, this should cure the back seat problem and will accelerate you into the next turn
-dont knuckle drag
-just keep your hands in front of you
-as you get more comfortable with this, start getting higher edge angles and practice being quicker on your feet
youre a good skiier, just keep skiing and enjoy it!
you arent leaning back far enough- you need to almost be sitting on your skis to get a good carve. also, ur weight should be only on your inside ski. also, ditch the poles-they are for amateurs. in addition stay in the tuck position at ALL times! dont let your skis bite into the snow as much-instead side slip as much as possible. Dont get tuition either it will only make you worse
You are pushing the upper part of your body forward too much, when you should be pushing your knees forward. You really are in the back seat a lot. Oh and put your hands closer together, I understand you want to touch the snow, but that is the reason why you lean forward so much. By the way i love the resorts around Sella Ronda. Best skiing in the world!
try not to reach for the ground so much, getting a hand down is fun but it can cause you to tilt your upper body into the turn, which can destroy your carve, i know this from experience. Once i worked on getting my hips into it more i could put a hand down without reaching
You're absolutely RIGHT!!! Just went through the ski instructor training and was told by very good instructor, that there are about 5-6 minor faults and another 2 big ones...Back seat and vertical moves...Thx...
i like it mate, you've clearly got the fundamentals. just one idea for you could be at the end of each turn bring your hands together forward away from your body ( i can see at points you almost are). i only say this as it should help to keep you forward and so on... also just on the shorter turns use a pole plant at the start of the turns (inside pool for turn ahead).. anyway thanks for video and good luck with the skiing
YOU FAIL, if your looking for trix or something you might wanna take a look at Jon Olsson or something, he uses Twin tip... this is carving. And it's rocks !
Well. I wasnt talking about freestyle or freeride. I just said that the guy in video is not skiing well in carving. Its been 8 year that i have been skiing carving and i perfectly know where does this guy mistake. Just see his hands ( they are moving like in old technique of skiing) also he is a little in backseet . If you want to know how its better to carve skis while you ski check this out
waaaayyy too far in the back seat, bring your upper body UP over your ski boots, bend your knees according to the bumps, soak it all up and you won't have a problem keeping balance in that position, you gotta use those knees man and thats how you will "quiet" your upper body
in my professional opinion (i'm a ski instructor) way to far in the back seat, and to much pressure on the inside ski. also to much upper body movement. quite it down and keep pressure on your shins. and don't be shy and stand up. it helps.
Great video and some fine skiing - inspiring!!!!!

If you use the pole position ropes you can improve your skiing. Just google 'skipolepostition'.

@MrAustria2010 a double pole plant would fix that, brings you right up to the front of your boots

You're a little in the backseat, and you need to keep your hands up. Your hand shouldn't drag on the ground. Aside from that, you're pretty good.

My not professional opinion:
> You are a little back seat down
> The position of your (interior) knee is not correct
> The position of heands you move to much to interior of body
The skis are not 'fisher hole' it's the more powerfull fault ...je je... the rest it's good !!

adelanta un poco mas la cadera y podras atacar la curva regulando mejor la presion y entonces volaras en la pista.
