  • most underrated song by them

  • 9 people were bit by a bulldog.

  • This has to be one of my Favorite bass lines by Paul. On his Rick too!

  • George always came up with an orogial and strong riff. No 2 ever the same in tone or notes

  • @mb19512002 great video.. the most complete filmed study of them recording a song in their history before Let It Be.. the Lewisohn book says there was filming of the orchestral session for a Day in the Life and film during some session during Abbey Road.. there's Let It Be, All You Need Is Love but this is the only casual film of them. Also.. this marks the return of George Harrison as primary lead guitar in the Beatles after 3 years of McCartney taking a number of solos!

  • Great video

This was the era when Gibson made a "real" SG guitar. Full of tone, and smooth to the fingertips. One of the Beatles strongert rockers, of that time. Greatr lyrics, and riff

  • OH MY GOD PAUL PLEASE JUST GET IN ME

  • amazing creativity and diversity...

  • wow! great bass lines from paul. Beatles from 1966-69 no one can touch it ever musically. those who say they were pop or elevator music don't know what they're talking about.

  • @nysdgiants there are many levels you can take their music in. That's the beauty of it. Two people may agree a song is great, but have completely different reasons and levels of understanding. I find this for example with Ringo's songs, I think few people get them like I do.

  • @nysdgiants tell me about it... the more revealatory releases of Beatle music the more people appreciate Paul and Ringo. 2009 would have been a good time to release the 5.1 remixes as the 5.1's of Paperback Writer and Penny Lane really reveals the incredible sound of the band that just can't be found in the mono and stereo mixes!

  • George at 2:53: "wtf people. why are you such freaks."

  • 9 disgruntled lesbians thought this was "Hey Bulldike".

  • could be their most underated song of all Hey Bulldog , what a driving beat ,a real Rocker !!!!!!!

  • The fact is the Beatles could not be as great apart as together. And they needed all four.

  • this a original

  • Whats Version 1 exactly

  • Excellent!

  • you dont know nothin about sideburns till u see john here .made ray manzeric little nervous... the gratest thing is this segment in yellow submarine!

  • Best bass line ever!

  • @CoverRecordings the only reason that this was used with Lady Madonna was because they didnt wanna waste time lip synching, so instead they filmed them recording hey bulldog which is a kick ass song

  • @jias188 From what I read though.. this was actually filmed by a documentary crew from a British TV station for a story on the Beatles.. not sure why this wasn't issued with the Yellow Submarine rerelease or Anthology though it was shown on ABC TV soon after the 1999 rerelease of YS. Kickass Song.. great study of the Beatles recording process.

  • Articmonkeys woul love this

  • Awesome!

  • I can't see how this video footage could ever have been synched to, "Lady Madonna", when there are so many obvious places where the lyrics from, "Hey Bulldog" are being sung. Also, the two songs are played at different tempos, and with different rhythms. If anyone tried to synch this video footage with, "Lady Madonna", they would have been making a mistake.

  • LENNON CHEWBACCA!!! O_O

  • Put your best headphones on and blast the volume all the way up! The sound is excellent on this video. They were really having fun recording this one :-)

  • I knew someone who thought this song was "Papal Dog". Side one of "Yellow Submarine" would make an awesome EP. It is a neglected Beatles album because of side two.

  • Was John Lennon going through a Ray Manzerek phase at this time?

  • Originally written as "Hey Bullfrog" but Paul misread it upside down as Bulldog. Then they barked on the outro...History :)

  • What a bassline... Class tune.

  • no , no no this video was made for hey bulldog and used for lady madonna

  • @EGGxGOD they were filming a video for lady madonna in the studio and they basically thought, "hey, why not write another song and record it instead of pretending to record lady madonna again?"

  • Another 'filler' song which John had to write in an hour to fill up the ablum. But see, this is a fabulous song.

  • Geronimo!!!

  • 1:08-1:12 Paul's lips!!

  • too bad they don't show who's playing the lead

  • this is when mccartney was looking most like ronnie o'sullivan! unbelievable similarity i reckon

  • I love this song! Have never seen this video before--Priceless!

  • can everyone just stop complaining and enjoy the music?

    THANK YOU

  • I love this because of John and Paul just goofing off and Paul just looks soo into it. His face says it all at the middle of the video

  • neat song how could some1 kill a nice man and i bet john didnt do anything to the guy who did it (forgot his name) but the beatles are the best group ever

  • I said... Woof! =)

  • @BeatlesGeorgeJohn Got anymore?

  • Fantastic !

  • Why do we have to say who was the best of the Beatles? They were one. They brought out the best in each other.

  • @Wingsbeatles1976 You summed it up. That was the whole point. Individual talent mixed with that of the rest to create a wholly beautiful song.

  • if it was any other group they'd be called psycho- but with the Beatles its just creative genius

  • Happy Birthday, John. Thanks for creating this music!

  • @Gyro911 You obviously don't get the Beatles yet. I didn't for a long while. But their music is not safe and childish. It is genius. You just can't see it. Insults don't help, you know. What sort of music do you like?

  • @Gyro911 Yeah your fucking world famous.....prick

  • @Gyro911

Oh yes, I'm sure that play music most excellently, hence why your music is so famous and amazing. I wouldn't call childish reinventing music and completely changing it forever.

Btw, you spelt 'Genius' and 'everyone' wrong. Fag.

  • @Gyro911 I for one would have no interest in hearing the brilliant music that " you play" lol you are just another idiot!

  • @Gyro911

    XD you're a funny guy.

the thing that the beatles really had going for them was their perfect abilty to priduce music in all genres,

to be as pioneering, intevinte and daring as velvet underground, frank zappa and captain beefheart,

while being able to mix that up with perfectly balanced songs and even in their most groundbreaking songs they always had the catchiness.

there's a reason why everybody from ozzy osborune to kurt cobain will tell you they're the best.

  • @Gyro911 they had something that you don't, they were NICE..... >.> but thats ok.... im sure you'll just sit back and play your music (haha!), also i want to know just, one thing- if you don't like the music then why are you on the page?

  • @drstarfires OK i just dont like their music.. Its not edgy enough. I think there were better groups around then but, the beatles appealed to more of the masses most of which are casual listeners

  • @Gyro911 they had a lot of songs with a lot of different styles.... like helter skelter to across the universe :P its ok that you don't like them, but i just hope you respect them and realize what they started and how many people they inspired :j

  • Inspired nonsense. Utterly brilliant. And @ss-kicking!

  • I think this is the only footage of them doing a complete song in Abbey Road Studios.

  • Cool.

  • Great! I just wish I could find a video of George actually playing the guitar part since it is his song!

    Thanks

  • @cgwhitney I believe you are mistaken, this is a John song. If it was a George song he would be singing it.

  • Overlooked this song for years, It's actually quite good. But that's The Beatles, it takes a lifetime to fully digest all their stuff.

  • The Beatles at their best.

  • is that a Neumann mic?

  • @Leoclapton1 haha are you joke? without Paul's song and albums and genius the Beatles no so immense in history!

  • @omarengo I disagree Lennon is the best of all of them. if i had to choose one.

  • yellos submarine was 1968 not 69

  • @casp3rnumber9 Yellow Submarine OST was realeased in 1969, but this song was recorded in 1968

  • @casp3rnumber9 recorded in 68 released in 69

  • One of their greatest rock 'n' roll numbers.

  • great bass line

  • @cunnidvd

    ROTFLMAO. You're kidding, right?

  • If you like this. You might just want to give this a try. Hey Bulldog by the Crash Kings.I think its Flippin Brilliant. As well as the rest of their tunes.

  • jajajaja harrison getting schooled at 1:04 :p

  • Harrison getting schooled?? Where does that hatred come from. Out of respect for George I won't go into detail. But you have no idea what you are talking about.

  • UaUUU!!! UaUUU!!!

  • the end is greAt :D i love it =)

  • you cant talk to me

  • this deserves a million views.

  • Listen, Look and Learn. Thus endeth the Lesson.

  • This is a GREAT video. Thanks for uploading.

  • Ringo looks kinda cute in this video n my georgie looks HOT!!!!

  • GEORGE IS THE BEST.

  • GENIUS VOCAL !!! No one can better sing that song.

  • An underrated Beatles rock gem. Great stinging guitars, great vocals, and it kicks ass.

  • This is the same as the `original` vid. :-s Out of interest this was the first visit to the studio from our beloved yoko :-(

  • Yes, I realize it's the same audio, the "Version 2" refers to the music video.

  • @rockchick2112 Way to trick people.

  • @iowdave The first visit to the studio from yoko was during a Magical Mistery tour session

  • @iowdave AWESOME COMMENT

  • What's the difference between this one and the other one (hence the 'Version 2' title')

  • Version 1 is animated.

  • Comment removed

  • Nothing, another wankey youtube title

  • this is really version one. the song was recorded before the song was used for the animated film.

  • You can talk to me, if yer lonely, you can talk to me.......one of my favorite Lennon lines.

  • すげえ!!

    まさに神!!

At 2:52 George is like "What are they doing?"

  • Comment removed

  • Can you not read their lips? This footage is from Hey Bulldog, but they did use the footage for Lady Madonna, in the anthology video I think.

  • Comment removed

  • @boterobabe .. know fool... this is hey bulldog as hey bulldog

  • Comment removed

  • @boterobabe hey retard they are playing hey bulldog and unless you are blind they are singing it as well.....any one who knows a little beatle history knows this ...you seem to know nothing about them

  • You are an illiterate, immature ass. Go babble to someone else and try not to be a creepy-ass stalker. Any subsequent replies from you will be reported.

  • no it not you are so wrong.. thjis is a clip filmed just for ''hey bulldog... arr do yer know any more..

  • bad ass beatles in my book -

    greetings from MN

  • awesome video and song, where is it from? greetings from Liverpool

  • Great song.. one of the Beatles' best -- and most underrated -- in my opinion.. it's nice to see the video finally in its proper form too.. thanks rockchick!

  • they just had a blast torward the end of the song. try to actually understand what they say, it funny and interesting

  • look up this beatles movie: Paris je t'aimerai

  • John's vocals on this one just shread the very essence of my mind in two... in a good way, of course.

  • Early 1968 ... B-side to Lady Madonna

  • No, the B-side to Lady Madonna is The Inner Light - this wasn't released until the Yellow Submarine LP in 1969.

  • OK!

  • the bass in this killer. XD

  • I was just about to post the same thing! Paul always had a killer bass line.

  • I know! It's wicked (:

  • actaully its just a bunch of gibberish from john and paul.

  • graceful gibberish, mate.

  • amazing song. thanks for posting. although this is the normal version (not sure if you meant by version 2 it was an alternate) and the song was actually recording in 1968 not 69

  • great group. Easily my favorite

  • i had a dream where if john never died he looked really old

    its wierd

  • great guitar solo

  • QUIET! OK? QUIET!

  • 2:42 gorge is like .. "weirdos"

  • They went into the studio to do a promo vid for Lady Madonna before going to India, but John wanted to do his new song instead, so they all agreed. That's why this vid was originally used on Lady Madonna. Originally called 'You can talk to me', then Hey Bullfrog, the finally Hey Bulldog when John responded to Paul's barking

  • fantastic song from the worlds number one group they will never be touched.

  • thanks so much for this share i love it!

  • man this song kicks ass! lol @ 2:53 he's like wtf?! i heard this song was supposed to be called 'hey bullfrog' until paul kept randomly barking in the studio so they changed it, oh that paulie!

  • Comment removed

  • Yep that is true. The original song was Hey bullfrog but Paul was barking in the studio, so in fun they started singing hey bulldog and it stuck

  • I think, John knews, what he was singing there.....

"If your lonely, you can talk to me". Read the Book of Cynthia Lennon.....

A great Song for all time.

  • i like george the best he was awsome

  • cool. george is playing an sg.

  • This song is awesome!

I love the style. It's reminiscent of their earlier songs. 0:

  • BEATLES 4 EVER!!!!

  • love this song.

  • AWESOME!

  • lennon at his all-time heigth

  • i've listening to this song ten times in a row and i can't stop listening to it

    2:44 - 3:02 makes me laugh

  • it's a great song, highly under-rated, except by beatle cognesati. typical late period john (cheeky, scousy). great contribution from paul too. and excellent lyrics

  • Awesome video, thanx for posting! Actually the video was shot of the Beatles actually creating and recording "Hey Bulldog" on the spot. John brought in some lyrics and The Beatles started Jamming. I think it was the BBC. It was then re-assembled and used as video for "Lady Madonna". You clearly see John and Paul saying "Hey Bulldog" in the video. Thanx again for posting. Great Video!

  • phenomenal! thanks for this one!!

  • This good of been a single!

Last song they recorded before they went off to India! Same piano used on "Lady Madonna"

  • BEST BAND EVER i rest my case

  • TY JUST THE BEST BAND EVER love your comment I JUST LOVE THE UNBEATABLE BEATLES

  • hehehe. love it!

  • you got that right ty for the share my friend

  • tema 5 estrellas , tanto musicalmente, como interpretativamente. tema 10.

  • the were the best

  • for the first time after december 1966 none of them had beard or moustaches!

  • The world will probably never see band like this again...Paul has said interviews that he scores of note book at home that he's wrote but never recorded. This was a perfect mix of players to form a group.. I was lucky I give up with them and saw and felt the experience . My dad and I were in Detroit when they were playing and they had said this was the last tour that they were going to do...I was dieing to go.. My dad said we had to fly out because he had conducted his business and we had to go.

  • Nice video. I would have liked to seen more of Paul playing bass on this song though... Great song.

  • Fantatisc. I've never seen this before! Thanks for posting it!!

  • Superb! One of my favourite tracks. Ruf...!
