If you using Windows XP click start then all programs then accesories and then click command prompt thats the CMD

My problem is that chkdsk won't run at all at startup and it says it doesn't have direct access to the volume and there's an error due to a recent package installed something like that. and my laptop is slow and freezes often even though its a centrino core 2 duo 2.1 ghz and 4 gb ram..and the drive is a 2 month old 500 gb hitachi.is my drive failing?

=/ Trying to run on a pc that has a virus that wont let me boot up, So i put it in my repair disk and when i do the command prompt on it says it's NTFS? Help ? :(

@Bartje2004 did you exit out of the scan before it was finished? Becasue if you did that will do that. I've done it but all you have to do is restore your pc.
