  • Track ID @ 4:45 ? I want this. I remember this track from when I was young.

  • nothing like music just after i was born LOL

  • It was sad to see, WBMX leave, it was like losing a best Friend. I never would of thought growing up in the days of "On TV" and "Spectrum" and Disco DAI would be replaced by WBMX to the Ultimate radio station of my 20's. This music by far describes my coming of age...

  • 8oer.....ninteen nana nineteen (;O)

  • I sound like an old f@rt saying this, but music seemed more fun back then. aaaahhh the smell of a fresh tape, popping it into the boombox, making sure the antenna was positioned right so there was no static, then watching the level meters bounce as the tape counter counts up. I was always excited to tape off the radio (no downloading back then) and pray that the DJ didnt talk over the songs. Now a days you listen to a mix and all the songs sound too similar, too genre specific.

  • Which kind of musicstyle is this???

On what labels the music come out???

  • @brabrab Most of the music being played in this mix is considered freestyle. The music came out on so many different labels! Bad Boy Bill also used to spin alot of Chicago House.

  • Does anybody know the names of the songs???

    Playlist please

  • OMFG!!!! i was born in 83. but still remember all these fucking tracks!!! i don't know how... maybe because i was the youngest in my fam and all older bros and sis played this all day. :) hells to the yeahhhhh. wbmx

  • DAm i love this .. i use to try to catch all the music from the hot 5.. and always ran out of the BASF metal tapes..

  • Does anyone know the song playing at 04:00??? It's 2011 and that songs keeps playing in my head...good times!!!

  • I think I taped this one when it played LIVE for the first time back in August '87 haha.

  • Are you crazy!???? The 80's were the absolute BEST years of Chicago House. The original Hot Mix 5 are the only true Chicago hot mixers in my book!

  • Im a Chi house head till the end, but the 84-88 shit just sucked ass. Good years 89-96!

  • I BEG YOU PPL ... someone tell me the name of the track that starts @ about 8:30.

    Thanks in advance! :)

  • @ajsholdings Monet-Give in to me !!

  • Very good!!!!!!

  • who is singing at 3:00?

  • Joyce Simms

  • @peacemanken --Lifetime Love,( had THIS from the OLLLD Gramaphone Record shop(b-hind Jones Tech, CHICAGO!!!)

  • @Baqerolla Hate to tell you but the name of that shop was Import's etc. not gramaphone!

  • thanks alot bro really appreciated

  • whats the name of the song at 7:44 pls

  • The name of the song @ 7:44 is"Perfect "by C-bank featuring geminis

  • I think the guitar sample at 8:45 is from the Prince song KISS. It was probably put through a sampler to make it sound like someone is "actually" playing chords. You can almost hear the word kiss, too.

I have been teaching my middle school Marching Band some of these classic songs. Their parents dig it and so do the kids. Of course I LOVE it.

  • what is the guitar sample that comes in at 8:45?

  • This was when dj's actually mixed and had skill! Now there are a lot of phony mouse clickers using computer programs to mix for them, that's not djing it's a fraud!!!

  • Yep, all too true. They don't do it like this anymore...:)

  • Exactly... especially those DJ's on stage at rap concerts and at award shows...all they're there for NOW is to play the record and make sure it doesn't skip. lol I have people in the Chi who are DJ's and STILL keep it real. I keep telling myself that I should have become a Dj...still searching for my MC name. lol

  • @AfreeQueen QUEENDJ..................

  • Anybody know the name of the third song, at 4:03?

  • hey I was wondering too!

  • The songs called "Perfect" by C-bank

  • thx

  • Can someone tell me the track listing of this first part of the mix?

  • I know the first track is "Lifetime Love" by Joyce Sims...next one is "All and All" by Joyce Sims....

  • Comment removed

  • its good but the pitch is a little too fast , thanks anyway

  • On friday and saturday nights this would be jamming throughout our house as me, my sis, and bro would be getting ready to leave the southside for the clubs downtown. Chic Rik, Excalibre, Eddie Rockets. Those were the days.

  • Hey could you send me pt1&2?, Just upload it to Mediafire or any file sharing site

  • Can anyone ID the complete Tape? ;-)

  • Can anyone id that complete tape? That's awesome...I love it... Awesome... Freestyle for ever...!!! I was a child in the 80's. :-) I think musics like oldschool is better then musics today... Hee Hee

  • Your right it is and always will be better than the music today! There is very little good music being produced today!

  • thanks for this classic

  • That shit still jamz yo bab azz

  • old )

  • Fresh! Sounds a bit faster than the way they were played back in those days. And in Chicago -it was Heartthrob before Freestyle!

  • BTW - the 3rd song is (in my opinion) ONE OF THE BEST DANCE SONGS EVER PRODUCED!! "Give in to me" By Monet. Produced by Ligosa (Tommy Ligget and Chris Barbosa) records, music by Chris Barbosa. THE BEST PRODUCER OF DANCE MUSIC... EVER! (in my opinion) PEACE!!!

  • thats the first time I ever heard that song. and I have to agree "give in to me" is sick!! I thought I heard all the old school classics, can't believe i missed that one.

  • I still remember when Bill kicked the CRAP out of "fingaz" from New York in a DJ battle staged in "The Blue Moon". Bill came out strong with his cuts and scratches, while Fingaz was just blending back and forth! No one could believe that a 16 yr old could do what he did! MAN, THE GOOD OLD DAYS!! Thanks for the POST!! BBB was always my favorite DJ. He knew (and still knows) what to play and when to play it!!! WBMX was da SHIT!!

  • Wish we had a radio station here in chicago that would play those classics on the weekends, BBB is definitely one of the greats, i still have all those classics on vinyl, started spinning at age 12 and i'm still at it, have no plans on giving it up anytime soon! Next yr makes 30yrs. on the decks!!!

  • Listen to 106.3 on Tuesday nights. The Dizz plays old school Chicago House from 6-6:30pm. People call in like crazy going OFF because he really takes you back to the 80's. He is also having a History of House party at the House of Blues on this Saturday night.....but you have to get tickets of course. Google it and I think you can get the email address.

  • damn I remember those old gold tapes.

  • @DJ2H i still have those old tapes. trouble is nothing to play them in.

  • OOOHHHH YEAH FREESTYLE FOREVER

  • Bad Boy Bill will always be one of the greatest dj's. So good to hear some early mixes.

  • Ahh . nothing better than a classic Heart throb mix by Bill. Good job is maintaining the date of the recording, I hear so many mixes online where they label them as 1986 when there is tracks on them that came out in 1988. :-)

  • Oh good. I see you found one of my tapes. !! many of us recorded WBMX every Sat night!

  • it's fair to say that both Joyce Symms tracks are heavily pitched, she sounds like minnie mouse on helium

  • OLD SKOOL FOREVER \o/

  • what is the title of the first song ?

  • at 7:25 = Sa-fire - don't break my heart, let's id this tape :)

  • The first song is JOYCE SYMS: LIFETIME ALL

  • The second song: JOYCE SYMS: ALL AND ALL (mantronix megamix)

  • Sorry the name correct of this song are LIFETIME LOVE not LIFETIME ALL

  • dammn this music is nutz! one year before my time! lol

  • I have the original BBB cassetes of Hot Mix #2 #3 and #4. They are prolly from around 89 and 90. Also the 3 tape series of "Classic" dated 1991. Volume 1 in black) is freestyle/heartthrob. Volume 2 in blue is street house like Adonis,RIS and Jesse Saunders. Volume 3 in red is high energy like Lime and Fun Fun.

  • I remember checking the "N.R." Yes box, like hell yea I roll with the Dolby!

  • NIce!! Freestyle baby..BBB, no doubt one the greatest.

  • good mix up to 8:36 then its another mix by someone else.damn

  • Nope, thats all BBB, at the last second he goes back to freestyle with "Last Chance". BMX used to do 30 minute and 60 minute mix sets.

  • my guess is they cut it up so it could fit in the video

  • BADASS

  • he does it all!!!! TIM "Spinnin" WHO?????

  • Yeep

Bad Boy Bill was a big fan of

    Freestyle!!

  • thx for posting this !!!!!
