  • Springsteen sang this song as it should have been sung that night... as a blues tune. Warren himself would have loved it... Have you ever heard some of the tunes Warren covered? He was known to make a lot of songs his own.

  • I was all bummed out about Zevon's death and decided I had to get out and see Bruce to help make it all better. Just happened the day of the show the Pit Party block of tickets were released so I got right up front at the stage. Then Bruce opens with this... I nearly lost my s$^%&$t.

  • Great job destroying a great song Bruce... You massacred it! Just because he's Bruce Springstein doesn't give him the right to sing off tune and skip the melody alltogether. I hate these pretentious musicans that always get away with producing garbage because they are "genius".

  • One person musically confused.

  • Bruce+Warren=Greatest songwriters who ever lived.

  • @tukfrompk-kinda miserable, aren't you. Try being nicer, and drop the abusive language. Maybe something nice will come your way. You seem to be a moron.

  • Interestingly, this song wasn't written by Warren Zevon: the lyrics are by Northern Irish poet (and current professor of creative writing at Princeton) Paul Muldoon. The music, however, is all Zevon's.

  • @Xiphias52 You're completly right!

  • For years I Listened to the touching lead ins, and the stories of Bruce's youth which bleed into the lyrics of genious songs. As I stood there under the night sky watching this legend of music pay tribute to a dear friend just days after his passing I could barely belive my luck to actualy be present for this magical moment . Theirs was a relationship defined by mutual admiration and love. Watch Warren in disorder in the house as Bruce lays down the guitar solo's, You'll see what I mean. TFP!

  • just came across this clip..WE were there also...one of the coolest moments was yes the Boss howling at the MOON...he was on the money that night..from swinging his guitar around shoulders 8'ish times to flipping upside down on the mic stand..we moved up after a few songs & were 20 feet from the stage...wanted to know if they could see us freakin' so we started whoopin' it up to Clarence while bruce was on the other side of the stage...he gave us a nod of approval..it was the GREATEST!!!!!

  • this was my first bruce show. i was front row. ive seen 13 since...all amazing

  • My first ever Springsteen concert, shame I cannot find more of this concert, life long addict ever since! He did a fantastic version of War at this concert, was hoping to find it, if anyone knows of its existence would be great!

  • @hpprkm I've got the whole thing on CD. Where can I send it to?

  • @hpprkm War???? Don't think so.

  • Only Bruce would start a full stadium show with a song like this and pull it off.The CN tower looming overhead with a full moon in view, anyone remember Bruce howling at the moon?

  • @clubhouseme That was a great show. I have seen him since but that was the best. I remember talking to security at the event and they told me he had asked for it to be opened and they told him that it was not normally done because it cost about $2000 to do it. I was told Bruce came back with a cheque a little while later.

  • Nice tribute but it doesn't touch Warren's version. I suspect part of the difference may be partially Warren's classical music training.

  • Nice to see Danny Federici on accordian who has also passed way too soon.

  • Springsteen shows his and Warren's greatness. All of the artiests on the tribute.

  • i was there. i sat 5 rows behind CBC's Ron Mclean.

  • standinh front row for this one, great show

  • I bought a cheap seat for this show. Wasn't even that far up but the sound was terrible.

  • was at this show and it was a special moment from the boss, and in memoriam to the Great Mr Z.

we miss warren more each year... and this is made even more poignant by the prominent role of the late, great Danny Federici...

here's hoping he & Warren are somewhere sharing a beer and a smile...

    thks for posting.

  • @NevadaBoss A great comment!

  • @NevadaBoss A great comment! Respect sir!
