When our youngest son was very young, just two years old or so, every time he heard this hymn he would cry. His maternal grandfather was a Penecostal preacher and Amazing Grace was his favorite song. My son was too young to remember his grandfather, who has since passed away, but I think granddaddy spoke to my son through this beautiful song.
