some people are missing the point of why bruce included this into the FILM. the idea is that in a "real" fight, one should use any means necessary and not be bound by ideas of "rules" such as no biting etc.... :)
The pain of getting arm barred would be much worse than a bite to the leg.You can actually break the arm like that.If this was real Bruce would have tapped.
Bruce would have had a much easier time in this movie if he'd just carried a knife.
He's killing everybody anyhow, he might as well just use a knife. Would have had better odds against the guy with the katana on the far right of the screen, who he fights empty-handed in the next scene and somehow defeats.
bruce lee is the farther of mma, everything from training equiptment , from the protein shakes, to the workouts, gloves, way of thinking all can be put down to bruce.
bruce mention bighting, kicking to the groins, finger jabbing to the eyes, and stomping on feet, to get out of situations or break the opponent down... some people laughed at this,, but if you watch mma cage fighting,, they have started using stomps to the foot aswell.. because it works bruce lee said so.
@kozmon0t eeeeerrrr exactly what i said , they use stomps in MMA even tho people laughed at it.. and as for protein drinks , i mean nutrition drinks, bruce made his own and acompanied it with his training... which most people wasnt doing back in those days, and knew nothing about. body building wasnt popular in those days like it is now.. they didnt sell nutristion drinks in the shop.. you had to make your own.. and now they are sold in shops and used by the most amateur body builders..
omg your talking shit.. nobody in the past was big and muscular,, it wasnt a trend and people didnt like it back then... your an idiot go and be a dick somewhere else.
you might aswell say someone invented martial arts in 1299309,93949930 BC when the caveman threw his first punch..
@xmanrules2001 Agreed.....lol. The guy needs to get his hips closer to Bruce. Bruce's elbow is almost below the level of his crotch. You can't hip into an armbar when the elbow is that shallow. I tell people that you know you're deep enough when the guys hand is at or near your face. If it's on your lower sternum/belly you haven't gotten tight enough to his armpit. This armbar would be easy to escape from.
in the position they were in bruce was facing down adn the guy was on his side,, he could arm bar the elbow with is knee... in mma in the cage they spend mintutes lying on top of each other shuffle in to get the perfect position which would be to have the elbow in the crotch area.. but as you can see he bit his leg and escaped before he was submitted or had his arm broken....
its easy to do a good arbar against a opponet thats not fighting back. when have u seen biting in ufc?
@quickmantan He could use the knee, but the chance for escape by a knowledgable BJJ guy is high. I would always prefer to get my hips as close to his armpit as possible. Not saying you're wrong, but the % chance of escape is much higher with this armbar. Getting in deeper and tighter is just increasing your odds of finishing it. Peace.
You only see them "take their time" when the the arm is not fully stretched and the guy is defending by grabbing and hiding his arm from being armbarred. Bruce didnt even have any defence so no time is needed to snap the arm in a split second. There is no time to bit in this case because the arm is already exposed, unguarded and hyper extended. In other words - TOO LATE to do anything apart from tap or snap.
But this is just a movie after all(an INCREDIBLE one too!).
The russian was a pussy. I would have taken Bruce's arm home as a trophy.

@quickmantan Marco Ruas used toe stomps years ago in UFC 6 or 7.
The thing is, kicks to the nuts, eye gouges, back of the head shots, bites - not allowed in mma in general. It's sport combat, not real life.
Protein shakes were invented by bodybuilders, not Bruce Lee.

@quickmantan bodybuilding has been popular since the early 1900's. Arnold wasn't the first.
