  • Mark my words, if they go forward with this mine 80% of the entire Upper Peninsula will end up being a superfund site. Your grandchildren will be left with NOTHING but a lifetime of shame.

The EPA and USACE can not let the State of Michigan permit violations of the Clean Water Act. They have a choice right now - be the prosecutor & stop this mine or join Kennecott at the defendants table. If you're a business owner in the UP and you do business with Kennecott - you'll get yours in the end!!!

  • Let there be no question about where this is going. This company has created a monumental mess everywhere they've gone. They are a global conglomerate that, when in Europe talk about Health Impact Assessments and protecting natural resources at the same time their pollution in third world countries raises the cancer incident rate by an order of magnitude.

  • I wonder what kind of job Ms. Halley thinks EPA is doing now that Kennecott, straight out of the Rio Tinto playbook, has said they no longer need the UIC permit under the SWDA provisions and is moving forward with construction while EPA sits down in Chicago worrying about cap & trade and how to implement a carbon tax?
