I'm the new owner and it is actually under restoration almost all the hoses (including the hydraulic LHM returns)are replaced the engine and the gearbox will be overhauled (it hadn't any problems but i want to be sure) with some manufacturer upgrades like other cam gears that have more harsh power delivery!!!! a video after the restoration will be uploaded!!!!
It;s really a great car and even before the restoration it has outperformed cars like Golf GT170...
Yeah it does seem pretty fast, i had two of them myself and especially when hitting 205 km/h @ 7300rpm in 4th gear, it kinda felt a bit heavy after going into 5th, but it would keep going until it hit the rev limiter. :-D
Man have I outperformed VR6s with those babys. :-P
@JesperValentine now the car is being restored.... The engine has been rebuilt with new materials straight from France and the car will be back in the roads in a few weeks... The owner has a lot of work these days... He overhauls my N13 h/b
The D6C engine as delivered in the BX but also the Peugeot 309GTI16 and 405MI16 is made of alloy and therefore a bit lighter but the RFS engine is raw power as well. Those two are my favorites.
offcourse the DFW engine is also made of alloy but has a cat, lambda, different camshafts and motor management making it more "economic and enviroment proof" still a good engine though, certainly in such a light car!
I've got that DFW engine in my Belgium 16V (I'm Dutch though, the car was imported)
Can't really find the differences between my engine and the D6C except for the ECU which is n0. 354 in my case and 116 for the D6C. Another strange thing about it, is that the hydraulic pump belt of the MK1 is tensioned with a metal bar where the MK2 has a tensionning pully. My MK2 has the same setting as the MK1. But all well, Citroen did some strange things concerning the parts used on BXes ;)
Well yeah, that's the thing I'm dazzeled about too.
I've got a Belgium MK2, I do have the 158HP engine, i'm not sure about the knock sensor but I'd suspect it to be there, just never checked it nor needed its use as I'm normally driving on autogas. But for sure I've got the 3-row connected 354 ECU in my car. When the ECU of one of my mates 16V died a couple of months ago we wanted to exchange it... but couldn't. Anyhow, I know all previous owners and this is the original engine set up.
I neither have a cat nor lambda, it's the filthy version just as I like it ;)
Also I fitted a Pug 306GTI gearbox (6-speed) in my BX, it's just a bit more aggressive with 6 gears.
And yeah, 158HP is very likeable ;)
I might get it chipped some time too in the near future, just to get a bit more power in the lower revs, but first I need to sort some other stuff out, next friday I'm going to replace the timing-belt and leaking oilseals of my cams.
It doesn't have a cat nor a lambda so in that sence its just working as a regular D6C engine.
About the foto's I've sent you a PM as I can't place webadresses in these comments. But I've got some films with my 16V starring on youtube as well ;)
try to find one without a cat, that one is really fast, the ones fitted with a cat are good, but they mis that raw power. In any way, a BX 16V is the best :D
i haev one back home :) it is rusty but engine si still good :P the car was soo mean :)) it would rip some vw gti :)) i loved that car :)) now if i found some cheap bx GTI with engine problem i will buy it :P
Yesterday we bought a BX 1.4, but the reduced version. It has only 55hp. It´s not that much, but it has only 77.000 km on the clock. I love this car because it´s simple to handle and it has an astonishing ride because of the hydropneumatic suspension :)
What did u say!? Have the BX 160 stock hp? In Sweden my BX GTi 16v only have 147 stock hp, but it is of course fast enough 2 beat some BMWs then, and it's very comfortable ;P
I assume this is the BX Gti 16V model

HaluzniciZV 2 years ago
ZX has 3 types of 16V engines, all are 2.0i 16V
XU10J4 RFY 1998CC 155HP
XU10J4 RFT 1998CC 150HP
XU10J4RS RFS 1998CC 167HP
BX has
XU9J4 D6C 1905CC 160HP
XU9J3 DFW 1905CC 149,5HP
The D6C engine as delivered in the BX but also the Peugeot 309GTI16 and 405MI16 is made of alloy and therefore a bit lighter but the RFS engine is raw power as well. Those two are my favorites.

I had a 1991 phase 2 16valve, (with the updated styling but still 160bhp). I had 142mph out of it at 7100rpm. It is that fast, fact. Loved it.

Athough a great car, the BX couldn't accelerate as fast as that. Just look at the other user videos.

Yes, I've searched several videos, and no one is near this one. They accelerate much slower...

is this the original BX GTI 16V ?or did you tune it up? the original has 147hp right? does this one have 147hp aswell?

Some BX 16V's got 160hp, but in some specific countries it's "only" 148hp due to the catalytic convertor that has to be fitted in the car.
