I'm a retired RN with FM and Sjogren's disorder. In the 1950's people with MS were told it was an emotional/mental disorder. I do wish the people who don't believe it is real could experience it for 1 wk. Critics simply have no idea. I was granted SS Dis first try (rare), 15 yrs ago by a very skeptical judge after a 15 min conversation with me. Of course I wanted to go from being a productive, caring RN, $55,000 yr to $1200 mo + ridicule. I'm just so much happier now! I miss nursing everyday.
I see that this vid hasn't been commented on in a while but, being a massage therapist, there is something that I've found works pretty well for clients with FM. I don't want to spam this vid but if the owner of this account could contact me I'd like to share information. It's non-invasive and non-chemical so there are no side effects :)
I am a recovered fibromyalgic who left the care of medical profession to discover the cause and cure of this horrific condition, and am living proof you can cure this and take back your life. Symptoms are mistaken as the cause, and treatments that help do not cure. Please, do not give from failed hope. Keep going!!!

Ive had a sore throat, a head ache, and severe body and muscle pains for the last 3 days, can someone please tell me if this is whats wrong with me? or am i just trippin out? do i just have a flue, I'm so scared, please help me
@PUTMEONTHEREDLIST 3 days-maybe a bug......get a good g.p./get all the tests done/see if everybody ignores you, laughs at you or says that you're nuts/wait until you've had it 3-10 years and then diagnose yourself.....fibro/m.e.(join the club)!
I tried chiropracty, massage, epidurals, exercise, etc. If you have low back pain, mid-back pain, or WHATEVER it may be, there is a really great read called "Healing Back Pain" by Dr. John Sarno. It conveys the most Responsible Content on the matter that I have ever come across and is NOT "about" anatomy in general. You can google his name, they probably have the book at your local library. P.S. I've had 2 discectomies in the past - didn't know better, and...yeah, it's a really worthwhile read.
Technically, fibromyalgia is not a disease, its a syndrome. This means that they don't have enough evidence to classify it as a disease yet, mainly because they don't know the causes. However, there is enough cases of these symptoms together to begin the research needed. ALL diseases start out this way. ALL diseases have gotten the "it's not real" treatment. Just because they haven't labeled it yet, doesn't mean it isn't real for its sufferers. Educate yourself so you don't sound so ignorant!
Yea when your taking 20 mg of Maxalt, over 1500mg of anaprox and 50mg of topamax to get of a migraine caused by fibromyalgia then it must be hypocondria. Don't be mean, this is as real as it can get, sorry its doesn't manifest into a physically illiness like some would like.
rumpuskat, I would encourage you to educate yourself on this dreadful illness. I am not lazy, a hypochondiac, or any of those things you alluded too. How dare you pass judgement on those of us who are dealing with invisible illnesses.
By the way, there are tons of other symptoms of fibromyalgia besides pain. I pray that you or none of your family ever develop this life changing illness. It is NOT hypochondria...It is pure HELL!!!

From a recent New York Times article:
"The diagnosis of fibromyalgia itself worsens the condition by encouraging people to think of themselves as sick and catalog their pain, said Dr. Nortin Hadler, a rheumatologist and professor of medicine at the University of North Carolina who has written extensively about fibromyalgia."
Rumpuskat, as much as your belief pains my soul, I will pray to whatever god you believe in that you never get this condition, even though, you would understand then. May none of your loved ones ever be touched by this misery as well.
And I encourage you to read the latest research findings, especially the ones bearing the dopamine connection. There was a time that people with Parkinson's were thought to be "mad" or "possessed." Now we know they lack dopamine. Asthma suffers once were sent to psychologists to "calm down." Now we know they have bronchi dysfunction.
I am a first grade teacher who has suffered with documentable symptoms for years. Recently abnormalities have been found in my bloodwork. I am blessed to have a wonderful, educated rheum. who knows this is a real illness.

no.. a diagnosis means we can move on with our life and to help ourselves to try and treat the pain and other symptoms associated with fibro.i also hope you and your family are never struck down by a very real 'invisible illness'which consumes your every minute of every day with chronic pain.
Try banging your body up against a brick wall about ten times a day every day. That would approximate Fibro pain. I wish morons like this could just feel it for an hour, a day a week, then try to comment that this condition is fake,
@unrequited416 That's my wish everyday...especially with the insensitive stuff people say. I had a coworker actually say "Just take an Advil and get over it." I couldn't tell if I was more hurt by it or more angered. Even now, it depends on my day. lol
@brickwall98 totally agree, there is no such thing as fibromyalgia. I've been in pain for many years and these stupid cunt doctors did nothing to help me. I had to help myself, turned out to be a food intolerance causing the issue. Do your research and don't believe these stupid cunt doctors.

Best I can do is spend time with people as often as possible, laughing.
Best wishes to all who live with FMS!

I'm happy to see that you watched the video. Exposure is the first step towards education. How did you hear about the video?

Hopefully you're unfamiliar with chronic pain, but if you or a loved one happens to be in the future you might want to reconsider your theories.

Basically, it's hypochondria with a fancy name.

Also, to all of you who wish well on me and my family, thank you. It's so obviously not passive-agressive and totally validates your point.
