  • you had your prop on the wrong side of the cut, you want it on the opposite side of the drop, that way the blade will not bind and you will not have to pick it up like you did to get it drop when you cut through it.

  • just as a heads up it wont bind if u set the curf well and it just takes trial and error too much and it takes too long too little and it gets bound they almost always come with 0 curf

  • damn, nutn, what demographic am I in....I get Sotheby's commercials when I watch this video....

  • yup, I always carry a can of wd-40 in my pack. lol

  • man that can of wd-40 is a survival essential

  • WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE CHAINMATE

  • can you recommend some good gloves for me

  • @BatCav3Productions

"Wells Lamont" gloves are my favorite because they fit great and are very durable like good gloves should be.

  • how to know if nut n fancy was there before you?simple

if you see an empty can of wd-40 on the ground, he was there

  • Oh, I see it, it's the 15-Inch.

  • Hi, Nutnfancy!

Is your Sawvivor 15-Inch or 18-Inch long?

    Thanks!

  • so glad i just bought one gonna try it out in a couple more weeks on a backpacking trip super stoked showed it to my buds an made em jealous

  • dam that is better than the axe!

  • Never get's old bro....never.

  • Ok, bought this item too! At this point I'm still an outdoors-men wannabe, but, I don't have a wood saw so I decided to order the 15" version. I figured it was light, but, I was still surprised by how light it is!

  • oh and no wd-40 needed on the fiskar the none folding saw cut green all day i swear no build up of sap

  • i got the fiskars 18 inch pruning saw d handle it away faster and way better but bulk on a pack

  • How much does it cost ?? and where can i buy one?? Thanx nutn

  • @masonmeep amazon, -$30 bucks

  • This saw works well and only weighs 9.5 oz. it comes with a compact case that holds extra blades.

I found a Gerber hatchet that has a small saw tucked in the handle. The sawvivor cuts much better but if size and weight are a big concern the Gerber gives you both a hatchet and a saw.

I would think most outdoors people could handle carrying the sawvivor in addition to what ever else they normally pack. You needn't cut clear through a piece either. Save energy by snapping it off.

  • Hi Nutn.

Have you tried a pocket chain saw?

I am gonna get the Sawvivor too and try a comparison.

  • Damn. I'm ordering one.

  • where is the cheapest place to get replacement blades for the 15"?

  • theres that wd40 again...so much for the weight savings over an axe.......pinch your blade in a standing tree and break it there goes your saw...during summer for little overnight trips i carry one of those saws for getting wood for cooking when its not critical i have a means of cutting wood...survival tool axe..piddling around I use the saw

  • @jsmallwood2007 very good point, for some reason i always prefered an axe over a saw

  • Yes the saw is better, but i probably woudnt care it unless i was intentionally going out to survive

  • Nice! With that thing, I could cut enough logs in one day to make a decent size cabin.

  • Hey nutn, would you recommend this saw over the Sven saw and the pocket chainsaw? I can't decide, thanks.

  • useful tool

  • Hey Nutnfancy you should try out the sven saw as well. I haven't had a chance to try it camping but cutting back trees it worked wonderfully.

  • Do you have a Molle pouch on your vest for the WD-40? If so can you tell me where to get one?

  • axe need rarely need wd40?

  • Ah good, I'm getting this for sure. I have sofar carried a small bow saw always, and this sure looks lighter than the stainless steel bow I've been carrying. I do also carry a Fiskars smallhead axe though. Found it good to split wood with even without the splitter head(heavyer) but indeed they dent easily.. Which for me in the end is not an issue as I carry a camillus combat knife with a stone ;).

  • He said the blade is 12-14 inches so I assume it's the 15" saw.

  • @adaman04 It is, he hasn't tried the 18" yet. -- Veri

  • i cut trough a 10 inch pine with my machete....not fun...get sap all over the blade

  • Me and my dad cut down about 20 branches that size and bigger with a pruning saw I bought at wal-mart for 10 bucks and it did it as fast as that! pruning saws work !!

  • Works better then an ax!

  • How do you replace the blade on the Sven Saw?

  • Hey nutn could you do a review on the saber-cut saw im torn between that and the sawvivor, the sawvivor is 6 ounces so 3.5 less than the 15" sawvivor plus a 24" chain , but im hesitant to go with it because all the other wire saws suck, there are vids for the saber but there nowhere near the detail you provide, So if you get a chance could you do a review? thanks either way

  • really enjoy your vids, totally has open my eyes the alot of stuff.keep up the great work.I would love to know what you keep in your bug out bag and what you use for the bag.

  • what happens when the saw blade breaks? Do you carry extra saw blades, and does that really happen or are they pretty strong. Me personally i would rather have a good sharp ax that i know what ever break and a saw just if the saw breaks

  • @Sawvivor cutter:

If you are going to use that piece of wood for a campfire, would one need to split the radius once again so it can burn better??

  • not bad i made the coolest vid ooh-rah

  • lol anybody notice he still put the log under the wrong spot of the log making it still pinch the log closed haha nutn' u r funny. But the sawvivor still didn't get bound up which is cool. Totally buying one @ 28 Bucks Not bad!

P.S. Don't think I'm trying to rip on him, I'm a big fan. I just thought it was funny so... nobody flip out on me lol

  • thanks for the WD40 tip i own the Trail Blazer Take-Down Buck Saw. Its the older version of the sawvivor. I like it because you can store up to 3 blades in it. but the blades don't lock as well as the sawvivor. i love it but the problem is ..........

  • (with bigger logs) when they are put on the fire they have a hard time burning through. Do you have and tricks on splitting logs without an axe? I was thinking cutting across the diameter of the log 3 or 4 inches deep then hammering in a wooden wedge with a rock to split it. but i haven't tried this yet. if you have any better ideas please let me know. thanks !

  • What about a survival knife for splitting logs to a more manageable size.

  • I'm curious whether you use the 15 or 18" version?

I am going to get one, but I'm not sure which one is the better choice. Any thoughts?

    -Chris

  • go for 15, saws dont need much length unless its huge pieces of wood you are sawing, but i dont see the use in that.

  • @chrishophoto he uses the 15" im 99% sure

  • @TheSmackfan101 Its the 15", you are correct. -- Veri

  • @chrishophoto

    15" = Backpacking saw

    18" = Car camping saw

  • how does it compair to the wyoming saw?

  • does the sawvivour fold?????

  • yes.

  • sawvivior duh!

  • OK I thought I would never carry a saw backpacking but you convinced me, I will carry a saw along with a Fehrman Final Judgement, Ontario Machete, Becker Knife and tool. ETC to baton the smoothly cut pieces thanks Nutnfancy!

  • i carry a four inch blade for small tasks, a small forest axe (only 1.5 lbs), and a pack saw as my woods tools. I find that they can get any job you throw at them done.

  • I think I've seen the pocked chain saws chew through wood a lot faster and they're a more compact tool, rolling/folding up to fit in a pocket

  • where can i buy one of these for cheap?

  • eso1

    ebaylol

  • awesome thanks dude

  • tool

  • Sawvivor is the name of the saw. If your going deep into the woods or where ever it is only good common sense to carry a survival kit.

  • hmm...

you've driven for 3 days to a comping location in the middle of a huge forest, you leave the car and set up camp and an asteroid hits the car and destroys it!

you have a radio which you use to attempt to call for help but aliens have destroyed most of civilization and you learn that the last humans on earth are living in china so you have to trek there.

you need this saw to make firewood and stuff for your long journey.

    you need to trek to

  • LMAO

  • I think this is one of the best survival tools ever made. I just got mine and can't wait to give it a rip. Thank you Nutnfancy for putting me on to it! You rock!

  • I'm having a problem with my Sawvivor.

The studs for the blade are round, and when I tighten the blade in i get vertical blade play, rendering the saw less efficient (the saw wiggles and the cuts become wider/less accurate)

How did you guys fix this problem?

  • send it back

  • how about a BCB england wire-saw? You know the wire with the rings on both ends hm?

  • A Canadian Survivalist called Les Stroud tested this on his show.

He got the same result I did: the rings came off- the wire being now useless.

  • Great vid! I need to how this to my bro in law who thinks a hatchet is the way to go.

  • How often do you go through blades on this saw? Thanks Nutnfancy.

  • Dude, what do you think of the Bob Dustrude saw?

It is a rather light / similar saw but a 20" blade

  • Thanks for another great video and the wd40 tip I have a compact Wyoming saw to try out bought it before I saw this video

  • Thanks for tip with wd40 will look into sawvivor have a small Wyoming now

  • I bought mine about 10 years ago. I think it's the best survival/camp saw ever.

  • I got a sawvivor and it absolutley rocks ... it rips through trees like nuthin and is very lightweight 9.5oz

i got mine for 29.99 Canadian

  • how much does one of these cost?

  • its no sap binding your blade some time teeth will get nock out of alignment witch is called a set and you can fix or but a new blade

    nice vids by the way

  • Thats one mean saw for sure.

  • Those who have never used a survival saw. This is the one. Best ive seen. Nice demo again.
