The point about occupation vs. colonization is that we are not imperialists, as some others have claimed. Starting at about 1:40 of part 2 of his address, Mr Wright states that Jesus was his last prophet. No Christian would make that statement! Christians believe Jesus to be God incarnate. The point about occupation vs. colonization is that we are not imperialists, as some others have claimed. We are not invading other countries, taking them over, and turning them into colonies of the U.S. And yes, I do agree that we have a dangerous deficit that we have, but that is part of the price we pay for being the world's policeman. If you actually heard Wright's entire sermon, you'd know that he was condemning the US government for slavery, the genocide of the Native Americans, the Vietnam War, etc.

Most importantly, African slavery was never passed from one generation to another, and it lacked the racist notion that whites were masters and blacks were slaves. Blacks today aren't whipped, beaten, burned, hanged, sodomized, castrated, or lynched by other blacks -- like they were by their slave masters. In most parts of the South it was illegal to teach a black person to read or write.

StephinRazin, I don't hate Wright. I do think that he is preaching a philosophy of victimization and self-pity, which does more to make blacks feel like second-class citizens. The best way to keep blacks from advancing is to keep telling them that everyone is against them, and they can't accomplish anything by themselves. That is why his speeches are dangerous.

King was handled by standard police procedure based on his behavior not his race. The same would occur to anyone regardless of skin color. He led police on a very high speed chase and absorbed a 50000 volt taser and threw 2 cops to the ground.
It is situations such as this that batons are issued to cops. They never struck King in the head or vital organs or after he was cuffed.
