Yeah, and this guy was our boss. We had to deal with him reading out loud to us for two weeks straight while we lived in these trucks in like 130-150 degree weather.
Our unit was extremely anal about keeping our complete uniforms on, instead of just letting us wear t-shirts under our IBAs instead. And yes, it was hot as fuck.
But what is the function of long sleeves? Wouldnt it tire soldiers out much faster due to the increased heat? Honestly if I was the military I would allow short/no sleeved uniforms. I bet it would increase moral a fuckton....or do you just get used to the heat?
I wouldn't say you really get used to it, especially in the summer months; you just gradually stop caring. As far as fatigue goes, the IBA, ammo and other gear is waaay more tiring to lug around. I think the rationale for the long sleeves is to protect you from the elements (like the sun) and is really just a traditional style of uniform. The ACU also has a small infrared square embedded on the sleeve so friendly forces (especially aviation assets) can see you at night.
