  • What a sweet sound!

  • Also, that is one simply beautiful guitar

  • @fattywombus One thing that can't be realized by watching this is that Otis literally sat down in front of the camera with no prompts, no script, and no plan, for three minutes and thirty seconds, and this is what we captured. This was not some sort of agenda, or pre-conceived production. He just did this as a favor- a tribute to how good of a guy he is ,and how great of an improviser as well. A natural born performer from our perspective. Thanks Otis!

  • @pickinallday He's not mediocre at all. He has his own distinct style that stands out from any other player I've ever heard. He puts his whole soul into the music. In my opinion that makes him pretty great.

  • He's really not all that good.

  • @pickinallday Did somebody wake up on the wrong side of bed?

  • @soundpurestudios No I just fail to see why this guy is demoing a guitar.

  • @pickinallday You're crazy. What have you done? Have you listened to his music? You obviously cannot see talent when its in front of you.

  • @sain0777 He's mediocre. His music would become stale after a few listens. What's great about being human is we can all have opinions. yayyy

  • @pickinallday Well, given that he's an artist responsible for producing some of the most influential acoustic music albums out there, there are going to be a lot of people that disagree with you. You are certainly entitled to your own opinion, but the reason he is demo'ing a guitar, is that because the guitar he is demo'ing is HIS signature guitar model. He's definitely not a technician, but he's most certainly a compelling artist in every way.

  • @pickinallday i totally agree with you he ain't all that

  • @pickinallday Who still care about the technical level --' ? Blues is about soul and feeling. The way he plays is simply incredible as soon as you consider it.

If ya want rapidity and hard scales well, fuck the fuck outta here dude --'.

  • @pickinallday This fast example of Otis here is not indicative of this: But some things you cant learn. Like in fighting, timing /music is as much about the spaces left between notes as the technical abilities to play them. Within the space comes usefulness and from the note comes profit. Like a door cut into a wall. Its whats not there that is of use .

Ambiance and atmosphere is what I find lacking in many of the top technical performers that the world loves so much these days.

  • otis taylor is a legend and im proud to have mastered all of his acoustic songs and i give this video here a 10/10

  • @MattDylanGill Glad you liked it!!!

  • Genius!

  • Hey I just made a really good cover. My song capture's the song in a real way with the photo's I have made the video too. This is all me singing you can go to my page plz add as a friend or sub I will do the same I put my heart into my music and 1 day will be big. I want to change music somehow and save lives or help when ppl are down. This video I made is a small part and step on how to do so.

  • The way he plays that guitar reminds me of the way Eric Clapton played for the Lethal Weapon Movies, Fantastic. If theres ever anymore Lethal Weapons in store they should give this guy a call, he's awesome.

  • look at the depth of the body on that guitar, i will not have an acoustic guitar unless it has a lot of depth in the lower bout.

  • @snapperjohn We have plenty of larger guitars in stock, you should check out our inventory at soundpure(dot)com or just call us and we can help you find something that is perfect for you!

  • Whoever disliked this video hasn't got enough money to afford one of those guitars.

  • Whoa, Awesome!

  • @davnorrdavnorr Thanks for the comment! We wholeheartedly agree!

  • Can somone tell me what song he's playing at 1:56 please??

  • @NuTT79 Wish we could help... not sure...

  • @NuTT79 isn't he just improving??

  • @neilss1 I'm not sure....I just really like what he was playing,

  • @NuTT79

Hi, I'm pretty sure it's the intro to it's "Live your life" from his "re-capturing the banjo " album. Beautiful song and the banjo integrates really nicely, well worth a listen. Looks like it may be a favourite of his !!!.

  • @NuTT79 I believe it sounds like Live Your Life.

  • @NuTT79 505 train, I belive.

  • Damn he's good

  • @NuTT79 We agree!

  • What was that riff he was playing when he started talking

  • @pubpukeNfight Hard to say. pretty great playing and a great guy to have at the studio, don't ya think? Thanks for the comment

  • @soundpurestudios id have to agree pretty great playing good ol blues

  • Maby someone could tell me, where can i find Otis Taylor Rosa Rosa chords ?

  • Otis is a guitar wizard.

  • @0erethren0 There's no one like Otis!

  • he hit the dislike on accident!!

  • @ridah925 Yeah that must be a mistake. What is there to dislike about a great player playing a great guitar through great mics and preamp?

  • @ridah925 Now everyone knows who to hate :D

  • He looks a little bit like god, I guess. Mere chance? ...don't think so...

  • @TheBloodyBeatsteak

My god looks more like Robert Plant, but Otis definitely makes that Santa Cruz sound heavenly!

  • Pretty price too, I'm sure :) damn.

  • @PotterPossum1989 True... but it's the rare woods, unique design, and incredible Santa Cruz hand-made build quality that makes each instrument unique, and well worth the money!

  • @soundpurestudios i've never regretted the money i spent on my Santa Cruz OM. I play it every day and make sure I get every penny's worth. This guy put one in my hands when I was 22 and it took me till I was 37 to get one and it was worth the wait!

  • My music tastes cross all spectrum's from opera to punk and country to blues, How come I've missed out on Otis Taylor, This man is brilliant, so is the guitar, It looks like I've got a lot of catching up to do, Cheers, and keep the music coming Otis.

  • @josephamego1528 Thanks for the comment! You should definitely check out more of his music, he is something truly special! We were extremely glad to have him in the studio...

  • @StudioOctavia Thanks for that very cool comment- we appreciate the support and following!

  • song at 0,25 ?

  • I love Santa Cruz guitars. Is it just me or does the OT sound similar to the eric clapton signature Martins?

  • @dayingyang0 I would think the bass quality is likely the cloest tonal similarity. Have you played both? We have an Otis Taylor model available. Thanks for watching the demo and let us know if you have any questions about the guitar

  • @soundpurestudios - not yet. i'm only going from the recordings I've heard. I do plan on trying one in a few weeks whent I'm in Monterey, CA on business (a little side trip :) ).

  • @dayingyang0 Let us know what you think! We just took a deposit on the one we have in stock but we can always special order a Santa Cruz for you

  • @soundpurestudios - thanks, will do.

  • Santa Cruz: for me , the sound I was searching for during years !... fantastic instruments.

  • @F3FisGoodforYou They make some truly amazing instruments- if you check out our website, you will see a very nice selection, some of which are completely unique as well. Please let us know how we can help!

  • It's the hands of a master as much as the guitar, I would guess

  • Hey guys! Otis just put out a new album in June called, Clovis People, Vol. 3. Its really great you should all check it out!

  • @skimes11 Thanks for letting everyone know about his new album! He's a great guy and a pleasure to have at our studio. Are you a fellow guitarist? what are you strummin these days?

  • fantasztikus!

  • promotional vid or song. PLAY IT man play it. otis taylor. is there anything else?

  • Not sure if it's his point of making it so but his description of why he likes the guitar sounds like a possible hidden track on his album :P. Great guy.

  • @GIMMEDANGERX1 Ha! You know Otis had to make a song out of a promotional video for his guitar. Maybe I'll make that suggestion to him. Hopefully it can make it on the next album...
