After scoring, give the whole thing a wash with a medium greyish oker. When dry, give it
another wash with a much darker brownish grey.
This will look far more realistic. Use different hues to simulate different types of rock.
Use lighter and darker greyish red, or blueish hues.
Try terracotta colors, etc... Avoid pure black at all times. Also, never use pure white either.
Even when simulating snow. Add a tiny bit of blue.
