  • Her guitar playing is sick! :D

  • i want this !!!

  • This solo version is so much better than Broken Social Scene's version! Go Feist!

  • the most genius and gorgeous girl in the world.

i would kiss her if she comes to my country

  • @MrActivatedCharcoal Feist IS in BSS but took a break from music in 2008 until some time in 2010 only playing a couple of shows. She's recording album 4 at the moment but she was on Forgiveness Rock Record.

  • her awesomeness <3

  • a little too country

  • i didn't know Feist did BSS covers at her shows

  • This is terrible singing? Are you deaf?

  • it's not really a cover, being feist is in bss..

  • @tristanxdunn

feist USED to be in BSS, now she just does a couple of gigs with them sometimes, but feist is a Band. Not just a person.

  • Terrible singing, guitars are out of tune. fuck off

  • @robmatlivingstone

awwww did someone wake up on the wrong side of mommy's bed this morning?

  • that is the Gretsch

  • if you'e talking about leslie's guitar, it isn't. it's a guild starfire

  • @intheaudienceband, your a guild starfire

  • a reminder of how much feist rocks ♥

  • she should really since more BSS songs

  • can anyone tell me exactly what kind of red guitar she's playing? I know its gibson, but what exactly? dot?

  • yo diria qu ees una rikembaker del 56 o por ahi

  • its a vintage electric guild starfire guitar.

pretty hard to find in new condition

though im sure ebay would have a few and

i dont think guild makes anymore of them.

  • oh awesome, thanks that's the right one. this aint no gibson. what was I thinking six months ago.

  • I actually think its a Gretsch.

  • its a Guild Starfire!

  • I love how at the end she just wants to rock out hard like she usually can when playing BSS but the folk rock stylings don't really let her.

  • i feel like she sounds lonely without the rest of bss around her.

  • i really liked how this version is really rock. but the original one has more emotional depth somehow.

  • for a band to be a true rock element. All members should be able to switch places to each instrument (including voice) and be able to switch the whole theme according to their own style. They should each grab a guitar and make it sound like a folk/old school country genre twist on their own song.

    BSS does that all well.

That plus im really baked right now.

  • "That plus im really baked right now."

    We can tell.

  • cheers to that man

  • me too.

  • Great! I love Feist, such a sexy voice

  • haha. i love it how the drummer just puts the tambourine on the hi hat instead of buying a fancy stand thing to mount it on. i should have thought of that. haha. i love it.

  • Feist is hottest/most rockin chick. Even more than Emily Haines???? maybe?

  • How do I love thee? Let me count the ways...

  • un deux trois quatre!(1, 2, 3, 4!) i love how she blurts out french! she is awesome all the way!

  • I still prefer Broken Social Scenes version but eaither way Feist did an amazing job

  • I like both versions but I think I prefer this version because the vocals are a lot stronger. You can hardly hear them in the Broken Social Scene version.

  • i mean that's because broken social scene has that dream pop element. if you are complaining about the vocals you must not like bss very much...

  • Yea I don't know I can see what you mean but Broken Social Scene isn't based on lyrics, they're more of an undertone in the grand scheme of their music

But both versions are great, depends what type of mood you're in at least there's two great versions of this song! :)

  • This version's way too tame, gimme Broken Social Scene!

  • Broken Social Scene's album version is actually a mellow song, unless you are referring to the alternative version. Either way Leslie Feist is part of Broken Social Scene, found that out today!

  • yeah no one pulls off the jew fro like peroff

  • OK this girl is a genious

  • @alanhcq ...how is covering a song genius?

  • @TheDallyLama

because its like taking an invention (which is genius within itself) and renovating and and making it better. (which also requires ingenuity and genius.)

The song is noticeable different if you couldn't tell. And being someone who knows about music theory a bit, anyone who can write and alternate and change music has my respect.

  • @MrActivatedCharcoal i respectfully and completely disagree

  • @TheDallyLama

Thanks, at least you don't start cursing as soon as someone has a different opinion.

But may i inquire why you disagree?

  • @TheDallyLama

    Ask Elvis.

  • Chrissie Hynde, anyone?

  • my sentiments exactly

  • I think she's done a brilliant job with the song. she's replaced the trillion layers bss have and made an almost folksy sing-along of it. really really great.

  • Weirdly, I like this version of the song more than Broken Social Scene's.

Way to go Feist. Please contine to be awesome. Thank you.

  • @connorb32 sometimes minimalism makes things incredible

  • i like the style of their music.

  • bboysnow from small minds come stupid statements, seems your on the deans list there.

Great song great energy, she brings something to a song other miss rock on Feist !

  • oh my god beautiful

  • I like this, feist has a very good voice ,and its got a nice beat.

  • hmmm... no thanks.

i like feist, but this just lacks BSS's flavor.

  • as much as I like both of them and the song I have to agree, it just seems a bit of a kick.

  • This song makes me just want to dance! I love all her other ones too, favs- One Evening and Mushaboom...not to mention 1234...I will listen to these for Years to come! She's a natural artist!

  • that was fun

  • Nice try, but this cover is better than the original. BSS has too many guitarist and noise. She cleaned it up.

Feist has blossomed since she's on her own and not playing with the BSS "crowd."

She's in a completely different league than those guys, including Kevin.

  • You're both being dull.

They're both good, just different. I prefer BSS's version, but this one's up there.

  • Now it's time.

You're fucking stupid as hell if you honestly think this is monotone and that BSS is better without her. I mean, really...in my opinion she is the best female vocalist in the group, not to mention best vocalist in the group period.

    You're vapid.

  • I think that maybe you are tone deaf.

  • No emotion?? No rhythym? You can't be serious. BSS is an odd collection of 24 guitars playing all at once. Feist outclasses them now. Hope she dumps Kevin Drew and marries me.

  • I do agree that the BSS version is full of emotion and a sort of dormant energy. Its the duality of sound that the song accomplishes by having all those instruments at such a slow pace; its tranquil yet complex. Like some sort of musical manifestation of being dazed out. I sound like a douche, but that how I like to look at it.

However I love Feist vocals and I really like this version of this song. Its so upbeat and pop-y. And hence also energetic and filled with emotion but in a different way.

  • 50, 31, 25 = who cares. some people are beautiful, and she's one of 'em.

  • Leslie Feist is freaking gorgeous

  • It seems you are WRONG! Not an opinion, FACT!

  • Wow, Feist and BSS, had no idea, thats pretty much amazing. Guess its not surprising, they have extreme music talent.

  • This is not a question of you being dull because you disagree. This is a question of you not understanding music. You can have your opinions. It's just that sometimes people with opinions that are not correct (like yours in this case), can make fools of themselves. Feist is good. BSS is good too. Here, however, Feist took a BSS song and amplified it with her creativity. Is it creativity that you lack? No match, dude.

  • Miss reply? I had no idea I was disagreeing with anyone.

  • Exactly. =]

  • Yes! She is beautiful and will be at every age :)

  • Chrisy Hines never looked this good....

I can't get from the cab to the curb without some little jerk on my back...

  • she is indeed a full blown member of broken social scene and has sung in several songs.

  • Broken Social Scene, not machine =]

I believe she sings on Anthems for a Seventeen-Year-Old Girl as well.

  • no, that was Emily Haines of Metric.

I think you've mistaken it for Almost Crimes.

  • ah my mistake

  • she has such a f-ing great backing band.

  • wow, she reminds me of a waay sexier patti smith

  • keep it up buddy

  • How novel, someone with talent.

  • I love Feist and all of her collaborations that she has done. I even got my mom into her.

  • She loves music over the other stuff (attention, fame etc) that's what I take from listening to her songs and watching her perform. One of those people that do it because of an inner compulsion. Always the best.

  • God, she is cool.....

  • I came up in the 60s...college in the 70s...and I'm now into Jazz because the "popular song" (to steal a Joni Mitchell phrase) has fallen into a low drone. This woman is the real deal. There are many singers, songwriters, choreographers and guitarists. Just not in one person. I'm very, very impressed.

  • I am with you packfaz79. I am probably a little older than you, too! I saw Hendrix at Red Rocks, in Sept of '68. Joni Mitchell at Red Rocks with Tom Scott (Court and Spark) 1974. At one time my record collection took up a whole room. Feist IS the real deal. She kind of reminds me of a sexy Patti Smith. And like, Bjork, she's not afraid to take chances. Check out the Broken Social Scene video "Almost Crimes" it features Feist. check out the studio version from boarder0125.

  • thanks for the recomendations . i havent tuned in for a while. and wham. look at these clear voice good young artists... as us , o i old guy, say, great gams... cheers from Vancouver bc

  • actually she still is considered part of broken social scene. she even performed on several songs from kevin drew's new "broken social scene presents" album, along with other members of the band

  • She was actually part of Broken Social Scene when they did this album. She played session with them from 2000-2005

  • Man, I've met many "so called famous" people in my day and could really care less about their stature..this is one person I would like to meet for who she is...VERY refreshing and gives me hope for the world!

  • Reminds me of Chrissie Hynde.

  • If she can touch the hearts of the baby boomer

generation, they sure have the money to buy

    her records.

  • i don't like the direction and voice at all, its very forced and confused -- i can't understand a word out of this woman's mouth on every song. some music just needs to dissapear, this is one of which. yeah!

  • this is even better than Broken Social Scenes! I have been trying to downloading this song by her, but I can't seem to find it. Anyone know where I can get it?

  • Rather an ignorant thing to say about Hynde. You must be still in short pants.

  • don't sign anything. we've named a new genra for you, it's called lime rock

  • i like "lime rock". not sure why but it works. wait, is "lime rock" a good thing? i sure hope so, now that i'm on board.

  • This one reminds me of Chrissy Hine. Nice work.

  • this is a great song, especially the fast and more kickass version on the ep with that album. feist is a fox.

  • she look like a younger patti smith.

    FEIST ROCKS!

  • right on! d resemblance, d body posture is immaculate

  • Reminds you of the genius band Feist sorta-kinda came from. Unbelievable to watch this!!!!! THANK YOU for posting!

  • awesome!

  • this is really good!!!

  • Sounds like a country song.

  • she changed the lyrics yea but still love this performance <3

  • is it just me, or did ole Feisty change some of the lyrics?

  • grooovy!

  • why, on the early verses, does it sound like someone left their keys in their ignition and their car door open? especially during the second verse. it sounds like the keyboardist is just banging on a single note to the beat of the song. other than that, its a pretty cool rendition.

  • that could be considered a pedal tone/ostinato.

  • Well it's not really a 'cover' since she's part of broken social scene, but it's great, glad you posted it :)

  • thanx for posting!
