  • Well, if this tank had come across a T55 or T-62 in western Europe, it would've been toasted. It had weaker armor and weaker firepower than the soviet tanks.

  • you must not ridden on one in Nam like those of us who did...yes we played a biug difference. Ask the NVA who operated in III corp

  • sick

  • awesome

  • I love the M48 (All Variants) it just says "Tank."

  • road looks like "thunder road" hwy 13 between phu loi and lie khe

  • SaberAlpha30-I believe it was Alpha Troop, 3/4 Cav, 25th ID, that first brought the M48A3 in country in Saigon/Cu Chi in Feb of 1966. Your video did not identify the unit. Semper Paratus!

  • The tank didn't play a significant role in Vietnam. But, it did do it's part.

  • "The tank didn't play a significant role in Vietnam."

    It was a mission-critical weapon in Vietnam! Google "Armor Magazine", and read "Vietnam: Tanker's War?" (May-June 1997) and "Viet Cong Infantry Attack on a Firebase Ends in Slaughter When Armor Arrives" (May-June 2000);

  • Okay, if you say so. i stand corrected.

  • @BlacktailDefense .... well since you're 24, i think i might know just a little more about the m48a3 in RVN. i served on one (all crew positions) in A trp, !st sqdn., 4th cav, ist ID 67-68 including "tet". although vulnerable to RPGs and weather it was the best place to be.

  • @redneckgregg yea don't listen to a damn thing blacktaildefense says his channel is bias anti-american videos and he fails to see any flaws in any other country but his own and while his facts come from shady anti us websites and non credible internet propaganda he is bent on the demise of his own country and people like him don't under stand what the US is capable of. as well all his followers are ignorant uneducated foreigners who have only been taught to hate the US and thanks for serving.

  • @redneckgregg I know it's a bit late to reply because you posted this a year ago but if you wouldn't mind could you tell what it was like to be in of those machines? I'm doing research on the Vietnam conflict and would love to hear a first hand account. If wouldn't mind answering my questions could you send me a message? :)

  • @DasFuhrerinagstring..... it was hot, dirty, hard work and the best time of my life.

  • I was with the 10 Cav in Nam, I was a TC on an m48a3, It was a kick ass machine until you lost a track.

  • Am I crazy or does that 50 have too high a rate of fire? It looks like an M2 but fires sooo fast. No wonder it was smoking...

  • Thats what i thought to.

  • It could've been a modified M85 .50 mg with a max rpm of 1050 rpm.

  • @krirobt thats an M2.

  • @redneckgregg I reckon so - I guess they just must have had them firing a little faster back in the day.

  • @krirobt that is an m2 , however i think they sped up that section of it fireing. it only had a cycle rate of 500-550 rpm. i agree with you that looks strange

  • my real first love m48a3 PAtton 2/34th armor 25th id viet nam 1969 1970

    Beuce "jet" jetseck

  • how much does it cost?

  • @zehb245,

I don't know if you still surf Youtube (your profile says your last sign-in was a year ago), but the M48A3 Patton has an approximate unit cost of $350000.
