  • i think i have a weird wei then. He really likes to jo out and sleep all morning hes doing it right now......

  • I used to stand up a 20ft embankment over a football field. I'd throw a ball down and up, down and up.. After an hour or so, when I was too tired to throw anymore, Iko would just barely have the edge taken off his energy. We did this every day...

  • What are his qualifications?

  • Very good advice on Weimaraners....I have 3 boys and they are brilliant, but thats because they are with people all day and also get a good walk every day.

  • Really? My weim is three years old. He has spent the bulk of his life on the sofa. He likes is daily walk around the block... but generally he's the biggest lazy ass dog you'll ever meet.

  • I hear you! My Weim is nearly 7...high energy when needed...lazy ass otherwise. Be ready, the nose rules. If it's food and it's unattended; IT'S THE WEIM'S!!! Fair, I suppose. Seriously, most important to note, is their co-dependence. Finnigan CANNOT be left alone. This explains why many owners of a Weim don't have one...they have two. Finn has an AmStaff Buddy named Mag. Definitely a people dog...people with time to commit to a brilliant breed: retired, home employed, etc. ENJOY!

  • @saucydragonfly Really cause my mom is getting me one and I am generally a couch potato type. When I read that they were active and high energy on various sites, I was discouraged. I'm thinking of not getting my wiem puppy because I can't handle strenuous activity.

  • @hahaokwhatever : Our Weim is a beautifull 2 year old male. We go to the woods every 2 days for 30 to 60 minutes. That's ALL he needs. For the rest we take a walk through de city , he is trained by my wife. He listens very well to both of us and he NEVER runs away. If you're weim is restless and doesn't listen to you , it's not the Weim his fault !!! It's YOUR fault ! Train your dog and be a leader ! We are proud of our Weimaraner Shiva !

  • @antonyojonson dont have to get all sour about it. i was just ranting that day, but my weims are still bad. and it is not 100% my fault. its my familys, they wanted these nice expensive loyal dogs, but never got them trained. and they are not loyal bc they dont listen to any of us! but as for me. im not there owner just the baby sitter, They are cuties but i hate them sometimes!! i still will say Weims are a bad idea *IF* you dont want to put a lot of work into them.

  • my weimaraner rocks dont diss them they rock there fun of energy duh dont be stupid

  • i have a weim and he's my baby. you have to train them early and often and put lots of time into them. they need to know from the first day that you are the leader. they are "pack" dogs and MUST have an alpha in the house or they will fill this position thus resulting in "lead behavior" such as running away and chewing on things. jaxson is a great dog. he's extremely loyal and well behaved. it's all in the training.

  • i HATE my Weimaraners they were never trained and they run away twice a week. and never listen to you. I call after them. but they dont listen. and they also run away from there owners!!.. i read somewhere they always listen to there owner and never run to far from them thats BULL!!! i recomend to anyone..getting a Weimaraner is the worst idea.

  • @hahaokwhatever weims are very very smart and if you have problems it is because the owner gets outsmarted by the dog. You are a prime example!

  • my weim only barks when he feels im in danger like when my dad hits me (we play fight) and only chews on her toys but that could all change cuncluding that he is onl 4 months

  • I have to say, my Weim never, ever chewed anything but his bone and his bed (got rid of the bed!). He is, however, hypersensitive to the least bit of noise, and barks. I like that when I'm gone; he's a terrific watchdog who never messes up my house. But when I'm home, I can't shut him up if he thinks he oughta bark!

  • mine just barks when someone strange gets into the house.

  • Geez, you people. Quit bickering. Sounds like your Weims (Veims) need to teach you manners and not the other way around.

    Take it outside.

  • My weimaraner is 11. The first year was terrible! But after 1 year, she is the greatest dogg ever had.

  • We have a couple Weims. They're 3 and 7, and they are, at this point, couch potatoes during the day. But they do get about 45 minutes of running exercise every evening. I work from home and we've never had behavior problems. If you have someone who's home with them all day they are much better behaved, because you interact with them during the day, they don't get bored, and aren't destructive. They're definitely "velcro" dogs!

  • Pronouncing it with a W is the correct way in English, though pronouncing with a V is also acceptable. Look it up. You don't say VoltsVagen, you say VolksWagen.

Good info for newbies who are thinking about getting one, solely because of the way they look. They need to RUN at least 30 mins a day, especially when they are young. A walk on the leash won't cut it. The best line he gave was, "if you don't meet their energy needs, you can't do anything with them." I have a 2 yr old Weim.

  • Actually, you would pronounce: FolksWagen. The V is pronounced F in Germany (witch is actually Deutchland).

  • Ok smarty pants. I am talking about how you pronounce it in ENGLISH, which is the language the guy in the video is speaking. You don't pronounce the W as a V in Volkswagen in English. You don't pronounce the V as an F in English either. Its a Volkswagen (which is actually.... hecho en México). The official AKC pronunciation of Weimaraner, is with the W sound, though it is acceptable to use the V sound if you want. Nevertheless, the guy in the video uses a correct pronunciation.

  • I was just telling you how you really should pronounce VolksWaken (the car of the people). Don't jump like that! And... what the hell? Are saing that VW are produced in Mexico, or am I reading it wrong?

  • I was commenting that the guy in the video was pronouncing the name of the dog correctly. I wasn't "jumping like that". Then you replied to my comment and started playing petty semantics.

Most VW (all Beetles) you see in the US were manufactured in Mexico. NAFTA

  • Most VW - I mean Golf, Polo, Jetta, Bora, Passat, Touareg, Touran, etc are manufactured in Germany (Detchland). Just like Audi, BMW and Mercedes. If there's a little factory in Mexico doesn't mean they all come from there. And we have deviated from the subject... witch was the Weimaraner. :)

  • Most you see in the US come from Mexico. Jetta's and Beetles are made in Mexico....I think those two make up the majority here. I think a Bora is a Jetta, just under a different name. And the factory is huge with 10,000 plus workers. If you get close enough to read the VIN number of a Volkswagen, if it starts with at 3, then its from Mexico. With out looking suspicious, check em out in parking lots.

Most Weimaraners you see in the US were born in Mexico as well......just kiddin

  • No, no. Bora and Jetta are different like the night and the day. :) / If I'll ever visit the US, I'll take a look at those numbers. :)) Tho'... I guess I got the answer to a question I've been having for some time. Allways wondered how do americans read the spedometer, since I knew the cars from Germany have it in kilometers. Dooh! They have factories in other parts of the world. :))

  • Yeah it is RON cuz its German and the A is pronounced "ah" so yeah. lol I figured it out haha. thanks anyway! bye

  • Spellt Deutschland wrong ;) haha I know what you guys are talking about since Im taking German in highschool.

but I thought he was saying the end wrong. isnt it pronounced RONer? please let me know! thanks :)

  • Pity you can't say Weimaraner properly though. IT's german so said with a V not a W.

  • Very good advice! Most people who cotact me for puppies don't get it when I explain how high energy weims are. Thanks for the video!
