I have a prius & U can get a second hand one pretty cheap - same cost as a normal family car get about 55MPG in the town bit less on the mway. It charges by the battery when ever you are freewheeling or going downhill or slowing so no powerstations no sockets none of that and it transports my two toddlers and gear and whatever small stuff I need for the farm. some us need motors because the last time I checked we have 2 postbuses a day.. nice machine, not ideal but a step in the right direction
The hybrid is a step in the right direction, however it is not the solution. A BMW 120d will use LESS diesel over the same miles? So, we need electricity created by wind, water or solar power to charge batteries that run cars which are capable of 200 miles at a speeds of upto 70mph and have enough torque to tow a trailer or caravan. Anyone invented that yet? No, of course not. I mean why would the government or oil companys when they can make $12 billion dollars a year? Car manufacturers, hello!
this is the most banal crap i have ever seen. hybrid cars are just another way for rich middle class twats to be self righteous, pompous morons, driving around in their ugly little cars while they import all their food from the other side of the planet.
Regarding the advert itself, the guy is shown operating the dashboard gizmo while he should have his eyes on the road. And also his criticism of public transport is so lazy.
Personal cars are a horror, as is this advert. Regarding the former, our brilliant designer does not mention many of the negatives of automobilisation, including its enabling of: Sloth, social isolation, suburban development, and road crashes. Also, the Prius is an incredibly expensive elite car which represents a tiny part of Toyota's total offer.
errrrrrr. Part electric? Where does the electricity come from? A POWER PLANT! that runs on coal or gas or oil! theres not many solar or wave power plants around at the moment. ALSO Do you want to have your children in an electric car when you crash and have battery acid go everywhere? thought not.
The electricity is generated in driving - so it has a self re-charging battery. The electricity does not come from an external source. This is the same as with existing cars (where you have a battery), but making more efficient use of otherwise wasted energy.
London does not cover the entire UK. Wayne's from Manchester by the way. I fucking hate London if you can't tell :) Besides, don't they drive on the right in Australia, Japan, parts of Africa and maybe still in Hong Kong?
I love my Toyota Prius

sorry, but that itself is wrong. during the recharging time of the battery it runs on gas. research my friend research =D

I think you missed Yellamocs point. Did he/she not mean that you don't have to plug the car into the mains to charge the battery?

not to mention that in a car crash a tank of gasoline is ten times worse than battery acid.
