this song is such a killer deep cut, with the great deep cuts, such as Sway by the Stones, Wanton song, etc....Ronson sounds a lot like Iommi on this album, the tone, vibrato...yet this album came out soon after, so he got that influence else where. I assume.
I often wonder if this is a tribute to the Zeppelin..they played in the early days a lot at Dudley Castle...which sits on a rock in the middle of the Black Country in England. Surprised no one has said this before.
I always though that Led Zeppelin was the band on this track, so you're not alone..This is rocking something...raunchy.The power of the chameleon, Bowie..
Fair play to DB for giving that part of the world a huge nod (no pun Mr. Holder !!) which at the time this gem came out was absolutely rocking in the UK !!
And to think, this was actually one of the less rockin songs on the album! Anyone who says Bowie ain't heavy just hasn't done the homework. Bowie forever.
@sirlovemehard couldnt agree more, one of the most underrated guitarists of all time, I wonder what bowie and lou reed wouldve sounded like without him!
@xxpiggystardustxx I dont know if I agree about it being one of the "best rock albums ever",but in all its brilliance
I totally agree about it being his most underrated album (as they were at the time) - There is not a song on this album that I never liked - indeed this was one of my favourite bowie albums of all time - a real cracker!
@hed4bed i dont know man this definitely blows and stones album out of the water. its up there with the beatles i'd say. its so eloquent and gritty at the same time. almost like the first goth album in a way as well.
Ya lotta love this forgotten gem- that whooo whoo bass line and a lick that's totally irresistible pop. Not to mention that Bowie is in fine voice. You could imagine this fitting easily on the Ziggy album - it certainly points toward it.
Best Bowie album ever.
