So, if this is meant to be a homophobic statement, at least make it an accurate one. Check your history books.
What would be awesome is if The world started when Reagan was elected then ended with Randy Savage losing to Hulk Hogan at WM V then everything went black and we started back at Reagan getting elected. The 80s were awesome.
"Reagan is the one who made today's financial disaster in the US today, if not inevitable." .... Wow some people are dumb, misled or uneducated .. or just dumb /. Great song
This cheesy movie has ended up meaning so much. It's soon to be mentioned in my book, maybe published 2014 under author: Terence Eagle, called "High on Seven Hills: Meroirs of a Life in the Clouds"
For the love of God or whoever, is it really necessary to bring politics into this NR clip? Especially if it's a bunch of retards idolizing the man who tripled Americas national dept, actually said in so many words that his agenda was to make the rich richer and the poor poorer - and did it - and financed dictatorships in the 3rd world and called it "fighting communism". Reagan is the one who made today's financial disaster in the US today, if not inevitable. Keep him out of NR clips, PLEASE!
Really? I mean Really? no wait ....(scratching head still) Really WTF? Let me get this straight for a second K. Cause I'm "dumb" you are essentially blaming a dead man that was President 23 years ago for todays
economic meltdown right? Just wanted to get that straight. You my friend are what we "dumb" people call a complete moron!! hahahahaha! You are truly pathetic. So what color is the sky in your world?
Watched this movie and "Big" with my childhood family DOZENS of times. I couldn't watch it today. Sleeping with your aunt (even if not closely bloodrelated)...that ain't right.
@controversyking Wasn't there a Democratically controlled Congress in the 80s? Republicans were in the White House, but certainly wasn't in charge of EVERYTHING. Ofcourse, I'm sure you'd blame the shitty parts of the 80s on whatever the Democrats had control over. If anything we've become more Right wing today then in the 80s. There is no true Left wing in America today, for the Left there are at best Centrist Democrats, but otherwise there is Right and then there is the Far Right wing.
A boy from Kansas moves to the big City with the determination to make it and his job is taken when the company gets taken over. Night ranger is feel good rock and roll. Love them. I watched the movie alot. The song is alittle more pop than some of their early stuff but watched the movie for this song.
@dowling1981 As much as I love America, that's my big beef. Americans would rather watch a bunch of people die than 2 people having consensual sex. Premarital sex is evil, but God is on our side when we go out to kill innocent people. One thing Reagan did in the 80s was bring about an era of relative non-intervention in terms of foreign policy. He defeated Russia without firing a shot. Unfortunately, after he left office America descended into a kind of neocon hell.
@surfer53 That is indeed a pessimistic turn of events, but they shall flay the trees in their attempt to overturn it. How should Night Ranger be corrected once and for all in this quest?

i absolutely love this movie like definately one of my all time favorites but I absolutely love the song! like you don't understand how awesome this is!
@snuffereet Definitely sounds like Chicago. David Foster did produce this song, but I don't think it was a bad thing. I can hear Bill Champlin singing this.
Secret of My Success, was a fun romp through corporate sharks. The predatory world only has trouble, these days top end demands the homosexual & lesbian, as carnal is their weapon of choice. Martin Luther King stood and said, my Homosexual & Lesbian brothers are oppressed, they never had a friend like me; the famous civil rights meaning and speech as enacted in America.
@WOWJBEOWULF Because of political corruption and voter apathy, people have lost sense of what capitalism is. It's not government and corporations in collusion to increase profits at the top end. It's about the opportunity for someone starting out with a big idea to make a living (sometimes a very good living). Everything you've said is why I've become a libertarian. If giant corporations are the alcoholic, government is the enabler. George Carlin called elections an "illusion of choice."

@surfer53 so true! especially the bringing down the guy in the corner office because it's unfair he's rich. It's easier to tear down the successful than it is to accept responsibility for our own failings.
@surfer53 This definitely is no cheesy movie. I have seen it lots of times as I used to consider Michael J. Fox to be my favorite actor (but I stopped thinking so since he is now semi-retired and will not be making anything more on-screen). This is probably my most favorite movie with him that is not part of the Back to the Future trilogy. The songs in this movie are also important and actually mean something to me- I am glad they are on here to play and listen to. They bring back good memories.
@surfer53 Did someone call this cheesy? No way!!! If believing that there are still some good guys like Michael J Fox or Brantley Whitfield Carlton Foster rather than guys like his uncle that step on us all the time is cheesy sign me up. You're right about it being hard to find optimism today though. But movies still have it today. It's about the only place you can find happy ends in two hours.
@surfer53 .... But even in the 80s Rock music was supposed to be bad to be cool. Even if they weren't angry they had monster faces KISS monster machines in concerts and evil names like Judas Priest and IRON Maiden (a device that killed accused witches) No wonder parents said thats devil music. Stryper was a minority throwing bibles against Ozzy biting bat heads. But there are still some unangry artists today with several genres to chose from Rock, country, Audio Adrenaline christian rock.
@surfer53 Bravo! Back when Communism, not Capitalism, was considered evil. Back when making money was considered cool. When people actually had hope for the future. We need to bring that back! 2012 will be the dawning of a new era, hopefully.
this is one of those classic 80's movie you need to enjoy as much as you can. Because Hollywood won't go for it anymore. It's a classic that this generation will never know about.
I used to hate this song way back in the day. Now that I listen to it 20+ years later, it's actually one of their better tunes. The song itself doesn't sound as dated as their other hits. Can't say the same for the video lol
I'm 27 years of age so in truth I missed the 80's first time round but the first video I ever owned was Back To The Future. To this day I think there is something wonderfully charming about the John Hughes, Brat Pack, Michael J. Fox era of Cinema. We don't get any Ferris Bueller or Marty McFly's anymore. Their charm is permanent. And here Michael J. Fox (opposite Supergirl ) in his pomp, taking on Manhattan from the mail room up. Let Cinema ensue. Brilliant. And an iconic Power Ballad to boot.
Night ranger's Awesome and Michael J. Fox is awesome, so when you bring them together its epic. Great song and a great movie(my favorite movie of all time). The movie had more songs worth listening to also.
spcfsu - Agreed - it was great growing up in the 80's. There are a lot of detractors saying it was all bad music, bad fashion, etc. - but for those of us who lived it, it was great. It certainly was a hell of a lot more upbeat and positive than the pre-packaged boy-band / girl-pop-singer and other crap that passes for entertainment and "music" today. Old? Nah... "Age is a matter of feeling, not of years."
This is awesome but I don't think it's possible to 'get it' unless you grew up with it. Now I'm going to keep drinking and youtube loads of dodgy 80s cartoons too.
Another example of 80s soundtrack songs totally kicking ass!!!! This is up there with Back to School-Jude Cole, Winner Takes it All-Over the Top-Sammy Haggar, and Holiday Road-Linsey Buckingham-Lampoon's Vacation! Thanks for the post!

@surfer53 Your're right, every one should agree with me here,
but today are just money, money, money, looking cool, trying to fit in, and not being yourself.

this is one of those classic 80's movie you need to enjoy as much as you can. Because Hollywood won't go for it anymore. It's a classic that this generation will never know about.

funny,
I used to hate this song way back in the day. Now that I listen to it 20+ years later, it's actually one of their better tunes. The song itself doesn't sound as dated as their other hits. Can't say the same for the video lol

So wonderfully 80s!
Great movie, great song.
janhammerrules 2 years ago 4
I'm 27 years of age so in truth I missed the 80's first time round but the first video I ever owned was Back To The Future. To this day I think there is something wonderfully charming about the John Hughes, Brat Pack, Michael J. Fox era of Cinema. We don't get any Ferris Bueller or Marty McFly's anymore. Their charm is permanent. And here Michael J. Fox (opposite Supergirl ) in his pomp, taking on Manhattan from the mail room up. Let Cinema ensue. Brilliant. And an iconic Power Ballad to boot.

Ah it was great to grew up in the 80's, time goes so fast, it was great days. I am getting old :(
spcfsu 2 years ago 31
spcfsu - Agreed - it was great growing up in the 80's. Old? Nah... "Age is a matter of feeling, not of years."
kellruss 2 years ago 2
@spcfsu not getting older, you are getting better....at least that is the way I look at it :)
