yo tengo willy wonka y la fabrica de chocolate 1971 y 2005 en dvd pero no es lo mismo que su libro ya que el se desepciono con la 1ra ya que le cambio la historia
I just finnished the chapter in "Going Solo," where he recounts the experience of witnessing a german fella get his face blown off (the German had a gun to Daul's chest and was attempting to force his way through Daul' s road block to detain German citizens after war broke out.) Incredible.
1:29 get your facts right Henry Selick directed that and just casue the marvelous Tim Burton producted doesn't mean that henry shouldn't be mentioned!
Hard to say really. I read the origional book, and all I can really guess is maybe how centipede calls several of the characters "asses," or that Spiker and Sponge origionally die when they were ran over, instead of just being arrested at the end. Also, the movie charcters were much more lighthearted and kinder (but I liked them more that way). Personally I don't really see that as censorship though.
@aidwin85 chitty chitty bang bang was written by ian fleming the author of the james bond novels --- but he did do the screenplay for it and other ian fleming novels that went to screen.. an amazing writer!!!
There´s a little mistake there. Was not Tim Burton who made "James and the Giant Peach", that was his friend Henry Selick, who direct "The Nightmare before Christmas" too.
@Neoguest It was EXACTLY like the book with a few things added.
1. So...lol they switched the title around a bit...why is that even a big deal?
2. So. He never said it WASN'T like the book, he actually rather liked certain parts of it. He just didn't like the film making process because they added things to his script. By the way, all of this was done under his approval. I feel as if it was more of an ego thing, rather than hating the actual script or film.
@Neoguest So what? The point of the scene was exactly the same. Where were they supposed to find a dozen trained squirrels in the 70s, it's not like CGI existed back then which is what Tim Burton used in his film. The changes they made in the original film were all done because they were simply necessary. The changes Tim Burton made were utterly pointless, why does Wonka have problems with his dad when he wasn't even mentioned in the book? It doesn't even relate to the story in any way.
@Sshelly34213 I already know why they change it to geese. What wrong with a little back story on Willy Wonka, it do tells how he first build his chocolate factory.
@Neoguest I never said anything was wrong with adding something, what I said was that the new version also ADDED things and even more vastly different things than the original version that weren't even necessary.
If Dahl disliked the original version, what makes you think he would have liked Burton's film? He hated all of the film adaptations of his books, that was just Dahl for you. I can't base my opinion on what one disgruntled man thinks.
@Neoguest Go look at the original illustrations by Joseph Schindelman. scenes from Willy Wonka literally took they were taken out of the book.
The only reason people think Tim Burton's version is closer is because Tim Burton convinced a lot of idiots that it was true. In reality, Tim Burton's film is just another film. He made the Tim Burton version of Wonka, rather than an actual book adaptation. At least the original Wonka was a fairly objective film.
@Neoguest Uh well the book is the source...obviously lol. Go google the illustrator, it's easier. I have no idea how hard it is to find the original version nowadays, I happen to have a very old copy of it.
I used to read these books, then I took an arrow to the knee.

@DemonCartoonist19109 sort of true. Tim Burton did work on it, but it was Selick's baby.

@missjobingo Burton suggest that the movie should be made as a stop motion.... and as a producer I guess :/.

Wow another lie, how are daddy issue closer to the book than the original?
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was just as influenced by studios as Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory was..
Sshelly34213 2 years ago
@Sshelly34213 1971 Willy Wonka and Chocolate factory was nothing like the book,
1. the movie was call Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory to tie in the Wonka bars.
2.Roald Dahl hated that film because of the changes, he never gave the studio the right for "Charlie and Magic Elevator
