  • My God, I can´t stop listening to this for the last 2 hours! I have work to do, deadlines, OMG is this a curse?

  • THANK YOU FOR EXISTING <3

  • what language are they singing in? it's so beautiful

  • what country are they from. sounds great

  • W jakim języku tym razem nasze dziecinki zaśpiewały?

  • No, I AM Eve (lol, sorry, I just had to point that out, since my name is Eve XD)

  • It is I that plucked the apple

It overcame the control of my greed

For that women will not cease from folly

As long as they live in the light of day

There would be no ice in any place

There would be no glistening windy winter

There would be no hell there would be no sorrow

There would be no fear were it not for me

  • How can I have NEVER heard these women singing before today? Also, to all those debating religion, regardless of whether Adam or Eve was responsible, it CAN be said that men are looked on more kindly than women in the Bible (But then, maybe i'm the only one who sees this). That being said, maybe we could save this argument for a more appropriate place and agree for the moment to agree to disagree?

  • where did you get the pic?

  • Comment removed

  • Lovely, just lovely. It takes me to another time and place.

  • It's because we're all ashamed that it took the devil in disguise to trick Eve, but all it took to trick us was Eve. It's a common strain of logic in most of the catholic diatribes against women. The Malleus Maleficarum goes on about women being more likely to be witches because they're stupid creatures who are more likely to question things rather than follow blindly

  • that's right blame eve. it's always the women's fault. the abuser ALWAYS blames the abused. she made me do it...blah blah blah. man up

  • @jaddajn1 Couldn't agree more, in old text and the bible woman are ALWAYS made evil!

  • @Herbsandspices100

??? Adam was blamed for the fall. In the Bible he was held responsible, thats why Christ was male, He was sort of the 2nd Adam, the redo, except he was perfect. See, the reason we all sin is adam, one man. So one man, Jesus, can redem us. Its pretty important actually.

  • @Paulismyhero777 Actually if you look at the past, women [eve specifically] were blamed for tempting Adam into taking a bite of the fruit

  • @Rebby2000 people can chose to blame whomever they want :) but the Bilbe says that adam was responsible, and you cant make people accept what God says, but the fall wasnt her fault regardless of what people say about her. notice that Adam blamed Eve ;) not God like father like son! lol

  • @Paulismyhero777 The bible also says that if an unmaried woman has sex with a man she is to marry him or be stoned to death EVEN if she was raped. It's full of stupid primitive nonsense that doesn't fit with the many things that humanity has found out during the past millenia. It's a thing of the past, but some people just won't realise they don't have to stick to a depraved book or stagnant dogmas to believe in something above them.

  • @snakeinthereeds no actually, shes fine if she tried to get away. It says so quite clearly... Also, if it were true, it would have to be in the past! i find it so weird that people think humans in the times of the Bible were primative. They were clearly as intelligent and complex (sometimes it seems more so) as people are today.

  • @Paulismyhero777

People in the olden days were easily much more intelligent and more clever than today's generation.

  • @Paulismyhero777 please, they were as stupid as they are today, really. But people in the times of the bible were primitive, I'm not saying people today are not... Honestly, sometimes people act so animal it's damn scary.

  • @Paulismyhero777 I guess wherever did I pick up the rape rule wasn't a totaly sound source, but there's no denying that the image of god that the bible tries to force upon us a caricature. I refuse to believe it's the word of god or anywhere close, the last time I checked god was supposed to be allmighty and allknowing, but in the bible it's incompetent and constantly makes silly decisions...

  • if any religion hadnt picked on women i would still believe in a god

    like bieng.

  • @bubbah671

Actually, there are alot of minor religions that don't pick on women, they actually worship them. Ever heard of Goddess Worship?

  • @Sarah71595 yeah ive listened to alot of ideology.but my faith is still broken.thanks for the reply bub.

  • wow, how beautiful.

  • Love..Love this. Impossible to get on Itunes, unfortunately.

  • @isabellehebert I love it as well. You could use a youtube-to-mp3 downloader to put it on your iTunes...

  • I would love to see an edict passed which compelled music like this to be played on radio on the hour every hour. Perhaps, then, people might finally wake up and develop an imagination and see the reality beyond the dull and dim senses. Instead, we get the predictable rubbish which keeps the drones in servitude. I could listen to this all day.

  • Beautiful!

  • Shit!! Horrible timing, I'm trying to quite smoking weed and this music makes my lungs and ears salivate! Absolutely amazing!

  • which language are they singing in?

  • @DofS1 It's gaelic

  • Wow great song!! Sounds like the intro of Rammstein's "Mein teil".

  • @yogeesunshine I didn't notice that until u said it... LOL. I like Rammstein

  • SO BEAUTIFUL!!!! Music like these is perfect for Game of Thrones!

  • It's probably 11th century Gaelic.

  • 5 people are deaf.

  • @votumseparatum1 thaks

  • @votumseparatum1. Latin does not have the sort of accents displayed here

  • @juzt156 Yeah, it's Middle Irish according to one source.

  • @adityajuneja7 That´s gaelic, my friend...the Latin is totally different

  • @adityajuneja7

    Middle Irish, most likely Gaelic.

  • This song gives me the vison of being surrounded by a forest of magical creatures all singing and dancing merrily-folklore. Mesmorizing.

  • My mom has a signed tambourine of these guys. I saw them live at a fair we had here in england. they rock.

  • Women blah blah blah, Bible blah blah blah, God blah blah blah, Adam blah blah blah.

Shoosh and enjoy the music and the vocals.

  • @maksphoto78 , exactly! why can't people just listen and enjoy music without criticizing everything about it?

  • there are many women in the bible who did not submit to their husbands or even God so why delete just the one?

According to the bible wives are to submit to only their husbands and then only wisely AND to a husband who treats his wife as his own body (with care and respect!).

I believe in Eve and that she made a mistake but thats because she was human, I think this song is brilliant, in a religious context or not.

  • @Salarmas. Another commonly used support for Lilith is the differing Creation accounts in Genesis chapters 1-2. Some claim that the woman in Genesis 1 was Lilith, with the woman in Genesis 2 being Eve. Rather, Genesis chapter 2 is a "closer look" at the creation of Adam and Eve as recorded in Genesis chapter 1. This "Lilith" myth is popular in some radical feminist movements because Lilith is an example of a woman refusing to submit to male headship.

  • @Salarmas. Also whats your proof for Lilith? maybe, Isaiah 34:14, which in the NRSV reads, "there too Lilith shall repose." This is a poor translation. Every other major translation of the Bible reads something to the effect of "night creature" or "screech owl." Even if "demon monster named Lilith" was the proper translation of the Hebrew word, Adam is nowhere even hinted at in this passage or its context. Whatever the Lilith was, it is not given any connection whatsoever to Adam or Creation.

  • @Salarmas. There are legends that Adam had a wife before Eve who was named Lilith, but the legends vary significantly, but they all essentially agree that Lilith left Adam because she did not want to submit to him. According to the legends, Lilith was an evil, wicked woman who committed adultery with Satan and produced a race of evil creatures. (so she sounds fantastic compared to Eve right?)...

  • @mrssianmorgan Pretty much. Lilith is far more ancient than the Bible-she comes from Lilitu, a demoness from ancient Sumeria, who was incorporated into the Bible. There are a number of references to her in the Torah-she was also common in the midrashim, writings the Jewish priests made to fill in the 'gaps' in the Bible. She was basically a wanton she-demon who filled men's heads with lust and killed babies. In any event, more interesting than Eve.

  • it sounds indian XD

  • Cheese. Cheese is good. And puppies. Cheesy puppies, not so much.

  • Will people ever stop bickering with each other in the comments for great videos like this? This is not a message board or chatroom, go somewhere else.

  • As good as this song is the lyrics hearken back to a time when women were treated with disdain and blamed for all the worlds problems. Eve wasn't even Adams first wife it was Lilith but she was removed from the bible because she wasn't subservient to Adam. The whole thing is a twisted backwards story that makes this song a very sad testament to religion and its treatment of women. The saddest part is people still believe in backwards books (bible) and old fairy tales that propagate such bile.

  • The language sounds like Old French to me- I can hear tu and ilya

  • @forestdweller68 It's medieval Irish.

  • @maksphoto78 Yes, it's Irish from 11th century, I think.

  • This is one of my favourites of theirs- the drumming is brilliant!

  • i have aids from the dirt snake

  • i like cake

  • Haunting......returns you to the shores of Ireland before Patrick set foot on the land............

  • haha, you'd think, if she wasn't singing about original sin. "I am Eve, good Adam's wife" is the first line of this song. I've wondered if they were being ironic, myself, since it does have a very trance inducing pagan vibe, though not all of the Baebes are pagan to begin with.

  • Of my Irish Ancestry , I don't like the fact that Patrick "betrayed" his people like that. Of what I know about History of that part, as only the winners write the history.

  • will every one stop fucking going on about this musics background or so help me i will eat your first born child, just shut the hell hell up and listen to the damm music

  • where can i get their music im in love with it!

  • I absolutely adore the pipe at the beginning

  • me2 :]

  • This song is very enchanting

  • Eve was the Canaanite goddess of life. Her name means "life" still. See Barbara G. Walker's "Encyclopedia of Myths and Secrets" for more. Goidelic is a term that applies to the Celtic languages descended from Old Irish (Irish, Scots, and Manx Gaelic).

  • i am eve great adam's wife it is i that outraged jesus of old it is i that stole heaven from my children by rights it is i that should have gone upon the tree i had a kingly house at my command grievous the evil choice that disgraced me grievous the chastisement of the crime that has withered me alas my hand is not clean it is i that plucked the apple it overcame the control of my greed for that women will not cease from folly as long as they live in the light of day

  • I don't think the catholic irish were talking about the canaanite goddess of life when they blamed this eve for everything wrong in the world. a lot of what the Baebes sings to/about Mary is very pagan-sounding ("Star of the Sea", "Empress of Heaven", etc) but Eve, not so much. shame, because this song is so beautiful...

  • Gaelic

  • Scotts or Irish Gaelic?

    Can u tell :P??

I'm not very good at reconnizing those 2 :P

  • I'm very sorry for your trouble.

  • @VenusIllegitima6 Like the song, but if those are the lyrics, wow sexist. Beautiful prose, but still... wow. Not that I should expect anything other than womyn hating from the Bible...

  • @VenusIllegitima6 I love you

  • @snakedemon11 Thanks :)

  • @VenusIllegitima6

thank you so very much for the translation :) :)

  • Looks celtic.

  • this is a beautiful song ^_^ I wish I knew what they were saying.

  • If you go to their website, they have translations for quite a few of their songs. All I remember of this one is the first line "I am Eve, great Adams' wife." and that it's essentially half boast, half confession.

  • thank you I didn't even think of that

  • Can you lot PLEASE stop arguing about religion, and just enjoy the bloody music? Crying out loud.

  • yes a person with both sences and secabailty you sir or madam are a god

  • From what i understand the bible is a collection of stories and legends passed down over several centuries. So i take what the bible says with a grain of salt.

  • I don't take it with anything.

It's all magic realism and a means of control like every other religion.

  • ladybirdflies:

    Pretty much.

  • Don't forget it was edited to taste by the Romans as a means of controling populations.

  • 32GaugeSlug:

The first Chistian Emperor, can't remember his name. Presided over the council of Sion ( spelling ? ) in the 4th century. On which what was decided to be left in and taken out.

Anything left out was considered heresy.

And if anyone didn't like it too bad.

  • Speaking of Sion, have you seen the encoding in all the Olympic game logos? Google "zion Olymic logos". Sion and Zion are the same words. Check Rick Clays work out, although most of it has been removed now.

  • @poodtang1 True. There were actually ancient Christian Gnostics, who believed the story of Eve was the tale of Sophia Goddess of Wisdom learning what it meant to be human, and they treated women equally. Actually, alot of the early Christian's did, at least compared to other religions. That all changed when Constantine decided to make it an official religion of course. Then you had the hierarchy established, and dogma, and heretics killed and books burned.

  • 32GaugeSlug:

Everything old was swept away. Ushering in the reign of the Chistian-Taliban. For the next 1 1/2 millenia.

  • It all comes from Latin. The Latin word for apple and evil are extremely close in spelling and sound, so they just decided to go for a forbidden apple.

  • is this Gaelic lyrics?

  • Funny I never saw Eve as just damning us all. It seem like god and the world took it as she were the more powerful one, who actions cost more. Who's soul worth more to fall so great.

    Still love this song!

  • This fills my heart with Joy :)

  • This song is so noble and powerful, just perfect.

It has always astonished me how talented Bæbes are.

  • Beautiful song-but funny myth-

Adam-"It's not *my* fault-she *seduced* me into eating it!"

Funny-because of this myth, they blamed women for eternal sin for years-but nobody stopped eating apples

  • XD You made me rofl so hard. I pictured Adam as a Ken doll.

  • Because Genesis didn't mention apples. The "apple" is just extraBiblical tradition

  • That would be because the Bible doesn't say anything about apples. "You are free to eat from any tree in the garden; but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil..." Genesis 2:16

  • where oh where in the Bible doe sit mention apples?

  • *shrugs* Maybe next to the part where you cant eat shellfish. Or next to the line of wisdom "living in a house with a nagging woman is like living with a roof that leaks" Or maybe in Deuteronomy where it says "Take the women and children as slaves and kill the men" Maybe it's in the King James Version-or the Hebrew version translated, or in one of the banned Gospels like Mary Magdalene or the Gnostic gospels-I dont know, I havent read it closely in a while. Apples, Pears-whatever.

  • wowza...

  • mmmm people represent the forbidden fruit as an apple

  • Lovely song despite the christian theme of Eve damning us all :O)

  • it's amazing

  • It is I that plucked the apple

It overcame the control of my greed

For that, women will not cease from folly

As long as they live in the light of day

There would be no ice in any place

There would be no glistening windy winter

There would be no hell, there would be no sorrow

There would be no fear, were it not for me

  • Thanks a LOT!

  • I am Eve, great Adam's wife

It is I that outraged Jesus of old

Grievous the evil choice that disgraced me, grievous

The chastisement of the crime that has withered me

Alas! My hand is not clean

  • Stunning . . . where are these women from?

  • A huge thank you is due to whom can translate this beautiful beautiful song into English! If I know what they're singing, it just makes it that much more exhilarating an experience of listening.

  • Whatever ethnic group created it, it stirs ancient race memories, boils the blood of this old Hun ;)

    =US=

  • im thirsty

  • legal ! : )

  • MILUJU středověkou hudbu...:-)

  • I can pretty much imagine ancient Irish/Scottish bards or elves trooping through the forest playing flutes. I always like these kinds of song but in my country it's so hard to find albums like this. thank you. melancholymistress, thanks for posting the lyrics

  • Scottish elves hehe

  • Sounds like welsh to me.

  • losghost: I might be wrong but i beleive it's Celtic or a form of celtic. Ancestor of modern English.

  • celtic is not an ancestor of modern english, it's a different branch of the indoeuropean languages - actually celtic is quite distant to m.engl., like latvian...

  • English is basically German, with the vocabulary padded out with Latin.

  • English is a germanic language. That doesn't mean it's German. And as for latin, I take it most Italians speak Latin well, as Italian is basically Latin padded out with German from the "barbarian" invaders (not).

  • Check out Old English. It's very similar in syntax to German. And yes, I admit that I made a generalisation. But just learning German, I was very suprised at how similar it was, compared to stuff like italian and french.

Italian and Latin are very different languages. Different influences.

In terms of what English draws from, German is the main one. But yes, it is very much a pigin language.

  • I don't wish to be pedantic, but English doesn't draw from German at all. They are both modern languages. It draws primarily from Old English with a bit of Norse and a simplified grammar and syntax. It is closely related to other germanic languages such as modern German and Dutch.

As for it being a pigin language, it is nothing of the sort. Pigin is a very simplified 3rd language produced when speakers of 2 totally different languages need to communicate.

  • Yeah, now you're getting pedantic. Modern english from old english, and old english is heavily influenced by German.

And Pigin is exactly what English is. It blends a lot of different words and concepts together, from a lot of different cultures. It's grammatical rules are also pretty sloppy. It's very hard to learn for just that reason, compared to something extremely consistent like German.

  • You seem to be confused between "germanic" which is the forerunner of modern English, Dutch, German etc. & "German". Modern German didn't appear til about1650, the same time as Modern English. So it coundn't have had any influenced the development of Modern English.

According to Wikipedia: "A pidgin is a simplified language that develops as a means of communication between two or more groups that do not have a language in common, in situations such as trade."

So it isn't what English is.

  • Pft. Semantics. And I defer to the experts at Wikipedia, naturally.
