Yeah, you can also lag when your opponent even has a 5 bar connection. Happened to me twice.

be a pretty damn miraculous 1 bar connection. it means the computer is getting a huge amount of delay (ping) in the single it sent out to try and guess the lag, so if its terrible just trying to figure out what your connection each other is, its prolly gonna be terrible when you actually start playing
