Agree!!! I'm 28...I started school fresh out of high school, and while I'm still studying the same major, I took six years off. I was not mentally in the right place, i.e. mature enough, to be in college. I made a lot of stupid mistakes. I have all that debt, too, but now that I really appreciate my education, I don't mind it so much! Definitely feel that for some, 18 is really, really young to make those decisions right away!
@inmysimpleheart That is kind of subjective. I mean, I attended college straight out of high school (18). I was mature enough. I mean, I don't want to sound like I'm bragging, but I never drank anything, did any drugs, still a virgin. I studied hard, maybe procrastinated sometimes, but still valued what I was being taught. Because you weren't ready at that age doesn't mean no one is ready at that age.
I think my favorite part of this video was the subtitled part. I watched it multiple times to make sure I didn't miss anything Jordan said or anything that Josh put in the subtitles. So funny!
They took that debt because they were forced into a system that heavily brainwashed them for 12 years to go to college or they'd be bums. Personally, I call it economic blackmail, and I definitely do consider it a form of force.
The real problem is that those people are not earning professional degrees. They're getting degrees in random crap so that they know random crap which is useful to no one. I, for one, am earning a professional degree that will pay off. Business, law, medical, science and ENGINEERING (<- that's me) degrees are useful and enable you to contribute to society. Therefore, before you choose your major, think about what you want to do with it, and then, if you can be utilized in society, go for it.
Truuuuuuuth. And it's horrible. I regret my debt. It isn't Biblical. And what did it benefit me? More STUFF that will rot in a few years anyway?? Avoid it, dear friends.
@Popcapcrazy - Fortunately, passion, perseverence, independence, creativity, and hands-on experience *are* recognized by employers; and are, in fact, greatly desired skills that cannot be "taught" at college. Your degree isn't what is going to get you a job: *you* are going to get you a job. Don't sell yourself short!
@Popcapcrazy This depends on human resources and their treatment of certain industries. At least in the case of Information Technology (computers), there are managers who tell the HR department that certifications of X type are better than any College degree in itself.
Cussing in itself is not bad. Cussing for no reason is bad. Since us have humans choose that these cuss words are bad, they come from other parts of the braid, rather than the communication area. They come from the emotional area. Cuss words are a ways to express extreme emotion. I am 15, and don't cuss a lot, but cuss. My parents know about this, and are not happy when I let one slip in front of them, but understand.
Ohhh my gosh! Thank you!!!!! You have no idea how much i get the college lecture from people i don't even know. This is so true people need to hear this. You keep saying all these things that people need to hear keep making these please your hilarious!
But I am a desperate man. Our sushi guys left town. And there are no supplies to make my own. Nobody in this one-horse town knows what rice vinegar is.
agreed there are a lot of ppl who are complete morons in the occupy wall street group, the whole thing is pretty confusing right now. but the main complaint is actually they can't find jobs to pay for thier college debt once they are out of college. you make a lot of good points too though. good video.
This is exactly how I feel. If I could have taken ten years to work, get money, etc., I would have waited, but this society doesn't pay you jack squat without a at least a bachelor's degree. Now I'm feeling like a money waster because I'm studying music and don't want to teach it in a classroom.
I just hate how people look down on people who DON'T go. I went for a bit and I learned 8th grade level stuff that I already knew and I lost a lot of money and the majority of people were there just because they 'had to'. -_-
I love your videos, but on this one I don't really agree about school debt. I'm french, and going to college was free for me... so I get why people would be upset to have to pay thousands of dollars to get a degree to eventually get a better job... So on that one, I'm hoping school will get cheaper one day in the US for you guys. (my danish friends gets a bit of money from the government to go to school... crazy!! ) I still like your videos :)
Unfortunately, without that expensive degree; the higher paying jobs will be out of reach for you if you " Self Educate". So far I have agreed with a lot of your commentary, but this is quite wrong. Better luck next time.
@TheNewHotVids Plz give examples of which countries, because for the most part I've heard that you to pay for school in most other countries. And not just universities and colleges, but elementary through high school, too.
Sometimes I can't figure out if you are being serious or sarcastic. Don't get me wrong, I still laugh and I get your point in the end, but sometimes I just get confused.
I appreciate your passion, but it is quite foolish to think you can educate yourself. You become wise and learned by taking advice and listening to your elders or, in this case, your professors. Paying money to learn a specific trade from someone who has done extensive research and is passionate about the subject is a wise decision.
Definitely right about the flawed system. I wait four years after graduating and I'm now in my 1st year at University. I'm learning better and I'm more prepared for this than my friends were right after high school. They graduated from University and still don't know what they want to do. Also I had a friend go to trade school and she's been excelling in a career for the past two years. You sir, are a genius.
hahahahahahaha you are a complete idiot... You need a college education to go anywhere in life now. A college education is worth more than it ever has been. To be able to be successful, you need to go to college, and you actually learn a lot of "stuff". Enough to support my future and be well prepared for it
It sucks more in Singapore, because you don't have freedom. You can only get in the courses that you like if you meet the required points from your O level exam, even if it has nothing to do with the course you want to get into! You can't not go to polytechnic/college cos your results would be void after a year or two. ): Suffering through it now, but there's very little I could do.
Yeah regular college is dumb, I mean the University ones so much money. Community College is much better, it's cheaper and you can find out things you like to do. Try out different things.
Actually the government makes you go to school. Homeschool or school. If you don't have some sort of education, the government will take your kids away from you.
Not all 17 year old kids are as financially literate as you. Not all high school kids are independent learners who went to home school. You obviously have those skills, but not everyone does. Have some compassion.
I wish I would have watched this video before going to college! I was made to believe that if I didn't go, I was a worthless loser. My father made me think that I had no other choice but to attend college and I had to pay for it myself. I wish I would have known that NO I didn't have to go! I wish I would have gone to trade school!!! Great videos!
Justin B to short and pasty BAHAHAHAHA that made happy laugh love blimey cow makes me smile. Honesty is great!!! Just like frosted flakes only BETTER teehee
The real problem is that we live in an entitlement society. This upcoming generation believes that they are entitled or deserve to succeed in life. When the reality of college debt hits them, they whine and complain to someone else to pay for them because they were entitled to that schooling. The days of earning a living are passing as the days of being entitled to a living by the government are coming.
haha, well I get what your saying about the debt, but I think it was just to make a point. ie. if the governments gives away billions of dollars to other countries why don't they use it at home instead (for anything that would benefit us... pay off student loans was just an example).
I actually like all of the other videos but this one is off. The school debt thing is all wrong. It's not the "mans" fault that students get in debt. But the system is made to keep them in debt, beyond many other things that make it flawed. Fail on this one.
You're oppinion that we need to "reform" our school system is actually a little bit more uneducated than those people who ask for college to go down in cost. First of all, statistically, less than half of students who take gab years move onto any type of higher education before the age of thirty. Also,it's sort of selfish to ask our system to be more lenient as we are very lenient compared to countries like France, who have their students pick a "Bac" (Math, Science, or Lit) after middle school.
unfortunately you are wrong in your statement of futility of college, all of the measurable data shows that those who get a degree make a significantly larger amount of money than those that don't. and that is the goal of of teens, to make more money. i'm right there with you, it is not necessary to live a successful happy life. but it does greatly benefit you
"Wow! holy crap! maybe 100,000 dollars is way too much to spend on college!"<--- you sounded like Homestarrunner when you said that... Just sayin. And you make a lot of great points! There are a lot of younger kids in my church that love your vids! Thank you for your insights and upholding a great testimony so that my church kids can have a good example to listen to out on the internet instead of a bunch of trash! Keep it up!
Wow! I completely agree with you on like everything on all your videos! That's really rare for me. I was just wondering, what denomination of Christian are you?
The protesters aren't butt hurt over the fact that they knew they had to pay money and are now realizing they don't want to pay it. They are mad at the fact that the sums of money must pay are so high.
1.You're the best. I would say that I love you but I watched your "Like vs. Love" video.
2.The way society is built is that you have to go to college to do anything. I'm a little confused as to the alternative.
3.Some people don't have the money to pay for college. I know I don't. I have to take out loans from the bank,& I will be in debt for years. I wish I could, because I want to be there SO badly.I just wish I lived somewhere like Greece where they pay for University like they do highschool.
Having been to two different colleges, and after graduating and having time to think things over, i've come to the realization that college, as a business, is a pretty shady organization. If i pay for phone service i expect good service done the way i want it. If i go to a restaurant i expect good food the way i want it. If i pay for college, i study and work hard to get good grades and give the answers the way THEY want it. I learn what they want to teach me about my general area of learning.
i hate it when kids go to a university as undeclared... terrible parenting really, your gonna spend thousands of dollars so your kid can go through the motions and not know what he wants to do with his life? thats freakin retarded.!!! if your gonna do that at least make em go to community college instead... me, i knew what i wanted to do since i was in elementary school, and i still want to do that, thats why i'm in college studying wildlife and fisheries science, not cuz mom and dad made me
Dude, this video is breathing truth into me, all my life ive been told you have to go to a 4 year college right after school inorder to become someone, now that im 18 im starting to see things differently!
I feel like I should say something on behalf of all the kids who get pressured or forced by their parents into going to college. Not just the ones who get it paid for, either. Though I suppose it's a bit different here in Canada. School is cheaper here, unless you go to a religious college (like me).
@AREM16137 Uh, no sorry. He definitely uses profane and idle speech in this episode and in others. Maybe you definition of cussing is very, very narrow.
@hannahbry27 I take "cussing" to refer to any vain swearing, idle cursing (which includes references to hell), misuse of the Lord's name or terms which refer to the Lord, and most (if not all) uses of obscene or coarse language.
Examples that occur more than once in BlimeyCow videos are "oh my G-d," "cr-p," and "h-ck."
I'm only a freshman in highschool and I want to be a missionary and not got to college at least not right way. i go to one of the top highschool's in my state though and they make us plan out our lives up until we graduate college and it's really annyoing
I chose to go to a local college in Georgia so that I wouldn't have to live on campus, thus saving several thousand dollars per semester. Our lottery-funded HOPE scholarship pays my tuition because I have a 3.73 GPA. My parents are paying for everything else: the stupid, unnecessary school fees, books (I rent to save money) and gas. I haven't had to take out any student loans for college because I made a smart decision about which school to attend and I make good grades.
I can't comment about American society/politics, but maybe people there expect College/University to either cost less but be slightly less prestigious (UK style), for it to be entirely free/subsidised but VERY competitive (previous UK style) or entirely subsidised and hardly competitive at all, at which point it becomes just an extension of high school with little prestige (France/Europe). Then a degree becomes essential to getting a job. The grass isn't always greener on the other side America.
someone should tell this idiot that the student loan debt is over 1 TRILLION DOLLARS in the USA, and also trade jobs arent the easiest thing i did landscaping and now am at RU and id rather have a desk job that pays, pluse in Europe the taxes in Holland are almost the same as in the USA and their college is cheap as in $2,000 a year cheap...trust me, i was there.
Everyone, is there anyone out there like me, who isn't in college right now because it's alot of money? I'm 20 years old, married to a guy who works and is also going to college. His college is free, but mine wouldn't be. Am I the only one who is waiting to get the money, instead of diving into the loans?!
My friend and I aren't in college because we don't want to have debt. I had a high school teacher who went on and on about how awesome her life would be if she didn't have to pay her school loans. My mom went to college twenty years ago and is still paying school loans.
Criswell College. 28k for four years and they actually teach HOW TO LEARN! (As opposed to spoon-feeding you a bunch of useless knowledge that you'll just forget after the test over it).
this is so funny

The real problem is that we live in an entitlement society. This upcoming generation believes that they are entitled or deserve to succeed in life. When the reality of college debt hits them, they whine and complain to someone else to pay for them because they were entitled to that schooling. The days of earning a living are passing as the days of being entitled to a living by the government are coming.

I need to meet you. It's essential.

haha, well I get what your saying about the debt, but I think it was just to make a point. ie. if the governments gives away billions of dollars to other countries why don't they use it at home instead (for anything that would benefit us... pay off student loans was just an example).

I actually like all of the other videos but this one is off. The school debt thing is all wrong. It's not the "mans" fault that students get in debt. But the system is made to keep them in debt, beyond many other things that make it flawed. Fail on this one.

Whoa whoa whoa. You did not just insult the final episode of LOST. It made perfect sense to me. Though, I have watched the series multiple times...

You're oppinion that we need to "reform" our school system is actually a little bit more uneducated than those people who ask for college to go down in cost. First of all, statistically, less than half of students who take gab years move onto any type of higher education before the age of thirty. Also,it's sort of selfish to ask our system to be more lenient as we are very lenient compared to countries like France, who have their students pick a "Bac" (Math, Science, or Lit) after middle school.
mohicksa 1 month ago
unfortunately you are wrong in your statement of futility of college, all of the measurable data shows that those who get a degree make a significantly larger amount of money than those that don't. and that is the goal of of teens, to make more money. i'm right there with you, it is not necessary to live a successful happy life. but it does greatly benefit you

"Wow! holy crap! maybe 100,000 dollars is way too much to spend on college!"<--- you sounded like Homestarrunner when you said that... Just sayin. And you make a lot of great points! There are a lot of younger kids in my church that love your vids! Thank you for your insights and upholding a great testimony so that my church kids can have a good example to listen to out on the internet instead of a bunch of trash! Keep it up!

CalLadyQED 1 month ago
@CalLadyQED What is your definition of it? (This is a legitimate question asked out of curiosity, not sarcasm or anything!)
hannahbry27 1 month ago
@hannahbry27 I take "cussing" to refer to any vain swearing, idle cursing (which includes references to hell), misuse of the Lord's name or terms which refer to the Lord, and most (if not all) uses of obscene or coarse language.
Examples that occur more than once in BlimeyCow videos are "oh my G-d," "cr-p," and "h-ck."
CalLadyQED 1 month ago
@CalLadyQED True that. Witty humor is a lot funnier anyway. You should check out Demetri Martin. That guy is hilarious
