I embedded a motor in the cake. I got a hobby motor from Radioshack, hooked it up to a switch, and ran it though a straw in the center of the cake. The motor sat in a little box I made.

how do you do this? Im making a cake for a friend this weekend and would love to make it spin!

The record is edible. It's fondant icing which means you'd be eating a whole lotta sugar.
