you should get your copper to a red heat and quench in water to anneal it you fail

your torch has way too much pressure, you can save more gas and oxygen if you correctly set your regulator pressures.

@twg6669 That's an air/acetylene torch. They are pretty loud.

I always thought copper is quench cooled to anneal

it depends on the alloy of the copper. Pure, or close, copper can be either air cooled or water quenched to anneal it.
