No, I don't think you can. But the Bloody Mess perk add extra gore when you kill your ennemies so if you don't like it, don't get this perk but I don't think you can turn it off gore completely.

some of the strongest guns in the game suck. the fat man arely brings down a supermutant brute's helth down. but with my victor rifle, it only took me a few shots and down went the motherfucker! oh, and another thing, scope guns SUCK! and i mean SUCK! with VATS. they miss more than half of the time. actually, i don't know the last time i got a perfect scope weapon VATS shot off... whatever, the other gun are good with VATS. especially the hunting rifle that fucking thing is my favorite weapon!!!

yea, i was kind of new at the game and just saw the vdeo and didnt see the mutant die. scope guns, i still say the suck on vats. better to zoom up yourself, it is much more accurate, if you are pro at the small guns skill anyways. the hunting rifle is prety cool, but i prefer the chinese assault riflr and the A123 plasma rifle or something. but i know better now, and i am surprised this video didnt get that many comments, but the views are OK.

What kind of gun is the one where you shoot them and they turn green and melt?

It's a Plasma Rifle. Enclave Soldiers often carry one. I use the A3-21's Plasma Rifle, a more powerful version of the gun. You can get it by completing the Replicated Man quest in Rivet City but you have to end the quest the good way.
