@durgaaa Unfortunately, narcotic or bomb sniffing dogs cannot work for long periods of time in locations such as airports. They have to be switched out and replaced after an hour or so to be effective. Xrays are most effective for locating bombs, weapons, drugs, etc.

@starzus There are many hard working individuals who work for TSA because they have to put food on their table at home. It is not a "power abuse" job, but it does draw some "power-crazy" types, just like other career fields do. There is a background check done on all candidates, and you cannot work for TSA if you are a convicted felon. Like any other job, there is always "bad apples" and I'm sure TSA has their share. It is not right to slander ALL TSA workers because you don't like the rules.

I'm sure one of these days, someone in TSA will "confront" me, but if you know anything about the martial arts, you don't use your skills UNLESS you need to "protect" yourself or someone else from attack.. I find that a cooperative attitude and a smile goes a long way to disarm a potential antagonist. That's probably why I don't get "hassled" like those other guys at the airport. I've never had my "junk" handled, I opt for the full body scan.

In a prison things like that are an accepted norm when you broke the law and were convicted by a jury of your piers to spend time in prison you lost all rights, however as a precautionary measure for 'safety' invading the privacy of law abiding citizens to look for the criminals is wrong. @durgaaa Unfortunately, narcotic or bomb sniffing dogs cannot work for long periods of time in locations such as airports. They have to be switched out and replaced after an hour or so to be effective. Xrays are most effective for locating bombs, weapons, drugs, etc.

@starzus NO, the rules have changed. Vodka, wine etc, isn't allowed past security at the airports, so there won't be any "smashing" or cut throats onboard. Duty-free liquor can be "shipped' home to avoid this issue.

@starzus There are many hard working individuals who work for TSA because they have to put food on their table at home. It is not a "power abuse" job, but it does draw some "power-crazy" types, just like other career fields do. There is a background check done on all candidates, and you cannot work for TSA if you are a convicted felon. Like any other job, there is always "bad apples" and I'm sure TSA has their share. It is not right to slander ALL TSA workers because you don't like the rules.

I don't fly.. but, if anyone ever did that to me or even one of my kids, they'd damn surely better be ready to meet Jesus. They'd know they opened up Pandora's box for sure.. in a big way. @margovallen I don't agree that in this economy there are "plenty of jobs an individual could get". There are many single mothers (and fathers) working for TSA, so they can give their kids food and a good home. Not everyone "abuses power" when they are in a position of authority. The fact that you and others call TSA agents, "Nazis" indicates that you don't feel too powerful. I travel alot both here and abroad, and I have NEVER been harassed by TSA or foreign TSA-types, and I am intimidating.

I use intellect and reasoning and most authoritative types don't appreciate that when being questioned about their own motives. I can take it to whatever level they would like to go however, it's a pretty sure bet that I will go to jail. I have a mouth on me. So, in my own mind.. sure, I feel a bit powerless in that sense. When I'm right, I'm wrong.

I have a strong personality and I am physically fit. I know how to "reason", but some people cannot be reasoned with, and if a fight erupts, it's over very fast. I fear no one, because I was raised to take care of myself, and I too, am strong-willed, and speak up for myself. I have never had a problem with TSA or other country TSA-types.

I hope you're never confronted by anyone in the TSA in any manner that might jeopardize them firstly, or you. Perhaps, you'd get the jump on them.. but, you know as well as I that they would have the final say when locking you up for assault and whatever else they can think of to charge you with. If you could get by with knocking out several and getting lost in the crowd a la Jason Bourne, how hot is that? I'd surely be rooting for you ;-D.

I'm sure one of these days, someone in TSA will "confront" me, but if you know anything about the martial arts, you don't use your skills UNLESS you need to "protect" yourself or someone else from attack.. I find that a cooperative attitude and a smile goes a long way to disarm a potential antagonist. That's probably why I don't get "hassled" like those other guys at the airport. I've never had my "junk" handled, I opt for the full body scan.

I don't care to be scanned.. and I would raise hell at the frisk.. so, needless to say, I probably wouldn't be the best candidate for a date with any of them.. haha!

In a prison things like that are an accepted norm when you broke the law and were convicted by a jury of your piers to spend time in prison you lost all rights, however as a precautionary measure for 'safety' invading the privacy of law abiding citizens to look for the criminals is wrong. Honestly reguarding the comment of @samdaman125 I do not think that issue has any bearing on the discussion of security, and the only reason they have so little is they constantly attacked Israel, and lost.
