Not hating just saying haha. The influence is obvious. I love both bands and I think it's great!

  • @BassManGilbert muse influenced dream theater?dude...srsly...

  • @nobodyiixgr Look it up. Mike listed Absolution as one of his top 10 albums in 2004. DT has covered Stockholm Syndrome. In 2006 Mike said "Well, I didn't hide that Muse is one of the bands which impressed me the most these last years... Sometimes people insult us while violently reproaching us for having influences, but when we're a music lover, we are inspired by things we love, anyway."

  • @BassManGilbert next time you are going to say something you found in the internet, make sure it's legit.

  • people gotta stop bringing up muse

  • Amazing.

  • Thumbs up if you want Muse and Dream Theater on big gig together !!!

  • This sounds wayyy to Muse IMO.

  • James Labrie said himself that Muse had been a recent influence on them. Yet, though being influenced by them, they made better music.

Muse is awesome, Dream Theater is awesome.

It's just that DT are better musicians.

  • Gay song.

  • @oErk93 similar, but not quite the same

  • Metal has nationality or human soul...Abominations in it.

OOPs,I forgot the word "No" before National.

  • Metal has nationality or human soul...Abominations in it.

  • @MlKEPORNTOY Because John Petrucci defiantly air-guitars to audacity while playing live. Watch him live, meet him, hear and watch his fingers while playing live, then realize how much of an idiot you just made of yourself.

  • Y'all are talking about Muse influence because the beginning reminds Knights of Cydonia?

  • @pippo1590 no, the whole song reminds of muse, because mike portnoy is indeed a big fan of muse, but y'all already knew that right ....right....

  • 3:38 "Fucking Amercans!"

  • i really miss mike

  • @ShiftyStealthy me too i cant believe they wont let mike back in

  • @infernaldeath661 Wow.. Terrible? Idk bout that man lol. Btbam is a prety talented fucking band, no were near DT of course. but to say there terrible? you might wana sit down and take a listen to a full album of theirs'. You dont get much more Progressive metal then DT, BTBAM, Opeth, and Mastodon. :)

  • @BeastLee18 BtBaM is probably the best band to come out in a very long time. And Portnoy is gone so BtBaM is all we got left for the real deal prog :/

  • @CheddarGetter Nope. Have you even listened to ADTOE? Best album since Octavarium.

  • People dont realize that the "Heavy Metal Dark Guys" are actually the deep-minded individuals who ake the time to put meaning into their writing. They arent afraid to expose injustice, they spit the truth of lies into your face.Unlike their prettyboy pop counterparts,Pop says everythings ok,we say its not,but you can change it. And Im not just talking about Dream Theatre or Opeth,Im talking Metallica,Megadeth, all those bands, love em or hate em,they are the last beacon of freedom of expression.//

  • @infernaldeath661 Sorry buddy, but when it comes to progressive metal, or music in general I suppose :P, nothing approaches Opeth. They seamlessly combine beauty and brutality into 10 minute masterpieces. Their lead vocalist/guitarist/composer, Michael Akerfeldt, taught himself to play guitar and be one of the best singers I have ever heard ( both clean and growled. ) When they were recording albums, no one had ever taught him to read music. That is why their music is so natural and unique, th

  • @MaxsSeveredHead The Human Abstract. Nothing can beat them. Their albums Nocturne and Digital Veil can't be beaten (progressive metal wise)

  • @Pianomantodd1 Anything by Between the Buried and Me beats the shit out of Human Abstract, especially The Parallax EP.

  • @CheddarGetter Btbam isn't even that good. They are just another generic metal/screamo band.

  • @Pianomantodd1 Really? This is from the person touting Human Abstract as the best Prog Metal band out there. You have obviously not listened to BTBAM since maybe their first album. How you could say they are generic at all is beyond me considering they are pretty much singlehandedly responsible for bringing prog back. And SCREAMO? Seriously? Where does the emo part come in? ESPECIALLY compared to Human Abstract (who I like BTW) that guy is all sorts of emo, like Protest the Hero.

  • @MaxsSeveredHead LISTEN TO BTBAM

  • simpangan bang jo :)

  • @Lennyofbassist totally dude. Yes innovated prog rock in its early stages.

  • This is prog metal right? If so, what classifications does it have to make it prog metal? Because Mastodon is sometimes called prog metal. As well as Between the Buried and Me. Dream Theatre, Mastodon, and BTBM sound nothing alike...I fucking love Mastodon.

  • @Bonecracker101 From what I understand, most progressive rock or metal contains new and innovative instruments and techniques, that seperate it from other types of music. For example, many Dream Theater songs change time signature hundreds of times in just one song. Most modern rock songs stick to 4/4 signature. DT also uses tons of synths. The "Metal" part is heavy guitars I'm sure. I guess that makes it "Prog Metal" in our over-labeling society.

  • @GetYourKicks1986 Exactly

  • Reminds me of Muse.

  • @bziakwfuckyou Take a Bow to be more precise.

  • @bziakwfuckyou Yes!!!!! Me too I think is because of the bass line and all the KB things

  • @tawanlovemusic This one is right from Take a Bow by Muse. Check it out!

  • @bziakwfuckyou That's true:) Both are awesome!

  • i love this band so much! so awesome can do so many styles of music! my dad introduced me to this band and many more rock/metal/alternitive bands.

  • @xXxPinkCouturexXx

  • Extraordinary piece of music, rare harmony ... no doubt DT has to be the GREATEST ,,, i really don't care the lyrics coz i only enjoying the music!!! DT still the best \m/

  • @saunine

i love DT but i thought SX was the greatest,,,hahaha

  • portal 2 synth lol

  • @jackinho333 You mean portal 2 has this synth? This came before.

  • @AMAZINGDOG402 the music in the beginning sounds like portal :P

  • @jackinho333 Yes, portal 2, which came AFTER this, so portal 2 must use Dream Theater music.

  • @Staphylin

  • This band would be better without the girlish voice of Labrie

  • are we propheting from war

  • Comment removed

  • @dsad25 what wrong with 6:01 ?

  • @lsmartin96

    everything

  • @lsmartin96 it's people like you that make dream theater fans seem like idiots

  • It took a bit of time but now I like this song. Some people say that this is the worst song of Dream Theater cause it realy has no solos. But Dream Theater always makes very different kind of styles and when we look to the mainstream sounds we notice, that none of them have a solospot or something similar. So in that fact, I respect DT for making such a modern song which is nice, eaven when it's not that kind of Dream Theater sound we know before. (new is not always better!)

  • disco 1:34

  • Obviously 26 people who searched prophets of war are retarded

  • @A7XBlake maybe they're deaf and thought this was a video!

  • @AMAZINGDOG402 haha I thought it was going to be a video but I dont think Dream Theater has put out a video for this song

  • Are we closerr then beforrrrrrrrrrr

  • jajajjaja when labrie sings like arabian jajaja xDDDDDD

  • lyric wise the first part reminds me alot of Freddie Mercury.

  • @queenguy1 Thank GOD someone said something intelligent here! Forget this Muse shit and everything else. What too many people don't realise is how much DT get their influence from Queen, and it's massively heard here! The harmony at 2:12 is like straight from 'Queen II'!! Half of the guitar solos Petrucci does have Brian May's influence in them, with the trills that few 'metal' or hard rock guitarists will even attempt! Take your Muse and go watch Twilight. You missed the point completely!

  • @MaysLilStar Which isn't necessarily a bad thing...... Hell you should also listen to Metropolis and Octavarium, and tell how much Pink Floyd influenced them. Many of Petrucci's solos feel and sound like Gilmour's which is GREAT!

  • @MaysLilStar ok first if all muse is amazing. and in an interview petrucci says some of his stuff was inspired by muse. like never enough off octavarium. and muse was inspired by queen so thats why it sounds like queen and muse. he was probably inspired by both

  • fucking awesome!!!!!

  • I AM WET

  • reminds me Mass Effect soundtrack

  • Everyone shut the fuck up and listen to the song. Who cares who it sounds like or who influenced them, cause either way it sounds bad ass. Now continue to masturbate to the song

  • @jp7rambo fapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfapfap

  • @lingthekid

Dont get me wrong I'm a HUGE Dream Theater fan but... You're incorrect. They've stated, and shown strong influences from Rush, Deep Purple, Kansas, Pink Floyd, and even Metallica. Theyve covered many of these bands songs. Not that this takes away from their originality, becaise its one hell of a task to fuse all those influences together into something great. But they do have many strong influences.

  • @GetYourKicks1986 Don't forget Maiden.

  • Comment removed

  • @GetYourKicks1986 There's 12 notes in music, there's only so many ways to arrange them. Everything done in the past 30 years has been stolen from somebody. Is what makes it creative is the way that you phrase and arrange things. Metallica and Rush are two pretty different bands, anyone that combines their work is alright by me.

  • @HurricaneTBag most music isn't "stolen" bro. It might be inspired by by other music, but that isn't stealing.. All i meant by my comment is that they do in fact have quite a few influences. The fellow I replied to was certain that they hadn't before stated any strong influences.

  • @HurricaneTBag 12 notes.... You don't know what chords are.... do you? there are infinite ways to arrange music, people who haven't taken music classes don't realize this. And you are only counting PITCHES, what about the rhythm / beat or the guitars, basses, and drums?

  • @Pianomantodd1 I'm well aware of what a chord is and I'm aware of different phrasings (thanks in part to JP) and I'm well aware of rhythmic patterns. I forgot what exactly it was I was responding too, but I recall it was a pretty positive message. My point, IIRC, was that there's 12 notes in music...take what you're trying to do, it's been done before, WHO CARES!!! Try to put your touch on it. This proves you can say something nice and there's always some asshole that will disagree with you.

  • @HurricaneTBag Wait... Even though I just told you about how you forgot to add chords, you say "ok" THEN STILL SAY ONLY 12 NOTES POSSIBLE. My god you have a knack for listening. This isn't opinion based. This is FACT based. Music is opinion, Music theory of this general topic is fact. You got some problems with people correcting you, not loved as a child?

  • @Pianomantodd1 lrn2read. There are twelve choices of notes that you have in music, there's octaves and different chord combinations and voicing, but there's still 12 notes. My point was, who cares if someone stole music from someone else? Everyone's stolen something, so who the fuck cares?

  • @Pianomantodd1 You do know that Hurricane is right, correct? There are only 12 notes in music; A, A#, B, C, C#, D, D#, E, F, F#, G, and G#. Chords are combinations of these 12 notes, not actual notes.

  • @GetYourKicks1986 Don't forget Yes. They were a strong influence for Dream Theater as well.

  • @GetYourKicks1986 and Yes (band)

  • @GetYourKicks1986

I never noticed it, but it's true indeed :P

  • @GetYourKicks1986 But you need to admit, that they do something really unique..and the only way i can describe the whole ambiance they create, how they play somethign both technical and catchy, is by using the word magical...idk why...they are simply awesome. And this word doesnt even describe how special they are. ;)

  • just dream theater ripping off more bands. they dont have an original thought in their collective heads.

  • @jojomellon /watch?v=R5kPUFxXYLs

  • @jojomellon wtf are you on about?

  • @jojomellon your trippin balls mate

  • @jojomellon technically all bands are ripping some other band off. nothing we play now is new.

  • @jojomellon Is that why you are listening to one of their songs?

  • @jojomellon dream theater is probably one of the most original bands ever, personally i reckon they influenced slightly from pink floyd, i can hear a little of them in there just with all the technical progressive stuff, but dream theater have still made themselves completely unique, most bands have stolen from them, theyve been around for years

  • Omg.

  • watch?v=C6ydQH_Mw_A Just trying to make none of you ever take this seriously ever again xD

  • It DOES sound like Muse, as Muse did this style first. I'm not going to say one band is better than the other, because they are completely different. I love them both for totally different reasons.

  • one of the few DT song I don´t like very much. Very Muse like indeed, just like never enough.

  • I was confused why someone sent me the link to this saying I'm a Muse fan and should listen to it until I saw the comments. They don't sound the same, what the fuck are people on about?
