@gontarzc LOL!!! Maybe so! I'm surprised there aren't a lot more. If he found it, he would have sent his social media henchmen out to bombard it with thumbs down!
@ferretyluv Thanks! And I completely agree with you. You might check out my channel and watch the song, Keep Your Tea Away From Me if you liked this one!
LOVED IT!!! But I have to ask...did the principal call you in and ask you to write a letter of apology like the one at Shawnee Mission East High School did to poor Emma Sullivan who exercised her Freedom of Speech? Kansas has become such a crappy place to call home.
@wylkatz I checked out several of you songs here. It is very refreshing to discover someone as positive and productive as you are. Too many people today are focused on all the bad stuff out there.
@jackpelton I'll take that as an enormous compliment! I actually do have job and an income and I pay taxes...more than most. I'm just an amateur musician. But I guess if you think I somehow DON'T have a job and that I play music all day, it must be pretty good (and maybe scary to somebody like yourself?). So THANK YOU!
@jackpelton it seems you have a jaded view of this talented young man. Personally, I think there is much more truth in what he says than in what you spew, those nasty talking points that actually make no sense at all. Maybe you should stop assuming that people who do not like the "Neo Nazi GOP" party aren't all "lazy" and "sitting on their ass" while you go out there, poor soul, and pay your taxes. well, I pay taxes as well. Darned, though, did you not get the money we sent to education you?
@jackpelton 100% of American adults pay taxes, chubs. The minority that get an INCOME TAX return get that because they're goddamned poor (yet obviously still employed.) That tax is STILL removed from their paychecks, which can be quite a blow when you're living paycheck-to-paycheck. Maybe if you were honest with yourself - and with us - you could realize that you don't know the first thing you're talking about.
@TheRusty when they get it all back and then some then that means they didnt pay taxes after all!, so you dont know the first thing. plus people that dont work and mooch off the taxpayers because they know the state will support them with my money, they keep having babies... those are the main people im talking about, if you dont pay taxes/mooch off the govt then stop crying about and get a damn job
@SquishyCool It's insanity. Check out some of my other vids if you have the chance! I think you'd like Red State Blue and maybe Keep Your Tea Away From Me.
@usernametaken56 Hoping, but I have a little family situation. Watch for my next vid, though! It's allllll about the Occupy movement! Similar lyrical style, I think....I really hope people like it. Might post tomorrow or maybe this weekend. It's called Smash It Grab It--Occupy.
@GreenMars68 Where in Kansas City? I'd love to come check it out. I'm actually writing an Occupy song..hope get get it finished and recorded this weekend!
@wylkatz It's located near the Liberty Memorial. I think the actual address is, 1 Memorial Drive, Kansas City, MO. They are there everyday, but I heard that they confirmed a march on Saturday OCT 15. They have a facebook page and their twitter is @OccupyKC.
This is AWESOME!! The link showed up on a reply to a comment I'd posted on the Huff Post, and I'm so glad it did! I've already shared it with everyone I know. This sums it up and I found myself singing along. I'll be humming it all day. LOL Great work!
This is great. Brownback isn't listening. He's behaving more like a king than an elected official representing us. Thank you for making this music. We need it.
Other than the s*** comments (dude, you can do better), is soo true...."where Kansas used to be" So are you Kansans gonna organize and dump the religious right/tea partiers? Lawrence surely is not the only area with liberal minded folks. Organize...and get those guys out of office.
@MadMonique Thank you for your comment. Sorry you found the s-bombs offensive. I do appreciate the feedback on it. My follow up song (may try to webcam next week) is actually a song called "Keep Your Tea Away From Me". I'm certainly not usually a political songwriter, but I am pretty riled up these days and I hope we can manage to organize, educate, and make a better Kansas. Thanks!!
@brfts2001 LOL....I can't blame you one single bit. Unfortunately, I have to adapt the famous line: "Kansas...I just wish I knew how to quit you!" I am not a big fan of the state-level politics, but there are lots of wonderful people and great places and many reasons to love what Kansas has to offer. Two of our previous three Governors were two-term Democrats, in fact! But now... :( :( :(
People manipulate and 'play' the mike all the time, you don't really need much expertise, it's just that your guitar is louder than your voice, from the mic's point of view, so you just need to adjust it's position or yours so the vocal audio is clear. No one expects amazing sound on you tube, I we do want to hear the words well for a song like this. Good writing!
@bronzeladdy53 Thanks for the clarification. I'll experiment around with mic placement and other things I can do with the current hardware. Glad you enjoyed the song!
@bronzeladdy53 Sigh...my $19 recording set up is just a webcam and a super cheap mic. I've solicited some technical expertise so I can enhance the production value for my future videos, including the upcoming "Keep Your Tea Away From Me!"
Keep your tea away from me
You've been drinking, I can see
I think I'll have a glass of lemonade
Your slash and burn democracy
Is not good public policy
That tea's causing your intelligence to fade
Oh, and if you click "show more" the lyrics are there.
I'm a proud Kansas native that hasn't lived there for many years and people are stunned when I mention the state's progressive history. Crawford county, especially, was very socialist - the Appeal to Reason was published there! It's so sad how far down my home state has slid. What's the matter with Kansas?, indeed.
@BestBBQ1 Yeah, I'm hoping that this current period becomes the impetus for Kansans to ask more questions, as we did in some other times throughout history. Thanks for your comment!
I didn't know you liked to sing! JE says he didn't know you liked to play the guitar! But, quite frankly, ya' sound great, all around! I take it you found the "Save Our SRS" pages on facebook? Anyway, let us know when/ where we can buy your CD! If you haven't done one yet, I'd say get it done! Btw, we're the couple who walked there. ( And then walked home in the storm.., or at least, I did. JE was already at Wayne's).
@JadeNightfall1 Thanks...I appreciate it. I think I'm probably more of a player who also sings than a singer who also plays, but it's just semantics. One of these days, if I ever do any real recording, I'll let y'all know! Might be a whole, though.
When I heard you mention 'walking downtown, on Massachusetts street', I started to get suspicious, then you mentioned liking to ride your motorcycle in good weather, and a buzzer went off in my head. I checked your name again, ran to look at some notes.... well, turns out my fiance and I just met you two weeks ago, at the small business start up meeting at the local COC office! Why does all this funny stuff happen around us? I don't know, but sometimes I really like it! :-) .
Way cool, Wylkatz! This song is very appropriately scathing. Btw, re; Lawrence, KS "small world syndrome" strikes again, I came here looking for this song specifically, because someone had mentioned it in a post to a friend's page on facebook, & I wanted to check it out. I figured you must be from the local area but, I didn't recognize you in the video, nor any of your others. In fact, it didn't occur to me that I might know you at all, until I saw the "Keep Your Eyes on the Road" vid.
Excellent!!! Well done! Now the road signs need to go up, "Welcome to Brownbackistan where Kansas used to be."
