@icandothesplits1999 - Originally I made my own with a monofin, but the fin was too heavy for the costume (see the costume in The Fishing Contest, another Doritos submission). The two girls at the goalposts are "actual" mermaids at Weekee Wachee, FL. There are a few places that sell them online, although these were really nice and lightweight.

@icandothesplits1999 - I made one for myself, but ended up wearing a different one as the tail was too heavy and kept pulling down the suit! Yikes! The other mermaids work at the attraction, and thus wore their normal tails.

I used a dive tank in the first scene (with the conch shell), but I couldn't find the gear very easily without a mask! So after that we just did freediving. We had to shoot fast sometimes (the first scene was 16 feet underwater and I used dive weights to stay down).
