Yes they are. You can find a reputable breeder, who health tests the parents and will be there for you for the life of the puppy. I don't recommend high volume operations such as Kimbertal. They're in it for the money and not for the betterment of the breed.
I got a doberman from Tammy Weldon of swift run dobermans he is a little over three months old and I have started him on schutzhund training. He is so smart(too smart)

Tyson weighs between 95 and 98 pounds. When we're running in agility trials, I like to take a few pounds off of him.
