you could make a decent turned based or rts on ww1 i think. it would be slow paced and about either bombarding and attacking or setting up defensive positions and fortifying. you could add research and put in authentic technologies that were researched during the time period and make game mechanics around what the actual advantages were of those technologies. It would be amazin to actual see your soldiers storm the trenches with gunfire and mortar shells flying around them.

the game Darkest of Days has some pretty cool ww1 action in tannenburg, but it is only tennenburg, and there is the battle of antitem thrown in too, plus your from the future time travelling back to these times to right historical wrongs so its not really a ww1 game, but its still very fun, excuse my spelling

That's pretty stupid! Age of Empires armies rushing against castles, Empire Earth soldiers attacking alone bunkers... are some kind of WWI strategies. Why not a game like COH based in WWI? Mass amount of troops, assaulting, getting slaughtered, counter-attacking... with these graphics would be awesome. WWI was not just trench-sitting, as WWII was not just infantrymen attacking.

Like if it were like Battlefield then they could take things from different games such as Far Cry 2 for the dynamic enviroment, and upgrade it further like if it were really rainy then tanks could sink into the trenches or go slower. Plus theres the thing from Brothers in Arms where you can have your own squad (AI) in multi to reduce dying over and over.

Because World war 1 was alot of trenchs, World war 2 is better for games as they have better weapons and a wider range of areas to start the game-Japan, Philipeans Europe Etc... Also WWII games can use Blitzkrieg and ~Trench warfare.

@pricture couple of things wrong with that, there were no snipers, every one was a kind of sniper really, no sniper rifles were needed since there was only about half a mile on average between the two trenches, if they did need snipers, there wasnt really such a thing, the standard issue rifle was the best sniper of the time

@martinis9678 There were snipers indeed! Armed with modified standard rifles with scopes crawling and hiding in no-man's land using camouflage. These men scared the troops at the point that no one would ever want to raise his head to try to see what was happening above the trench. With the help of snipers, raid squads could sneak to the opposing trench and throw grenades, because nobody could have seen them because of the fear of being shot if anybody tried to raise his head to survey the area.

@RobloxFreak122 To be honest, I dont really know why so many rats were in the trenches...........I think its because some of the warzones were actually cities that had rats (from looking at them though its hard to tell), and since both sides of the conflict brought in animals like chickens or horses to the front, that might've attracted the rats. :P

All World War 1 was, order your soldiers to charge, they die, the enemy orders their soldiers to charge, they die, you order your soldiers to charge, they die, until one side actually breaks through. World War 1 was hardly dynamic except for the poisoning, which is a completely dirty tactic. Trust me, you don't want a WW1 game.

Its a side scrolling game where you get to use different guys to get to the other side, and mI admit it does get boring after awhile, but rthen again its only a flash game. WWI was fought mostly in trenches, and trench warfare was used in nearly every land battles during WWI. So to make a fun, world war one game, with a variety of different levels, would be VERY hard to make, as everyone level, would nearly be identical tactics.

WW2 battlefields were located all over different environments, so game designers often target it, because it is a fun game for the player, and the level set out, is a simple process in comparison to other games.

WW1 had all kinds of battles and tactics... if I would make a WW1 game I would do it this way :

INtro : the assasination of the austiran heir ( which started the war.. could replace the sniper mission there is in every new COD'S..

France Campaign : 1 mission where you defend your trench against germans...

1 mission where you charge at a trench...

1 mission with early tanks,

1 mission about the sneak operation in enemy outposts.

part 2 : russia ( all sorts of open field and city battles.
