  • Ok, why is it that recently I have gotten more into Agalloch? before I would just listen to You Were But a Ghost in My Arms. WTF was wrong with me? These guys are phenomenal!

  • The intro reminds of my nymphetamine by Cradle of Filth!!

  • Agalloch is ... Beautiful.

  • Opeth wasn't the first metal band to use acoustic guitars...

  • This is definetely one of my favourites of theirs

  • The way they play the intro riff again is simply beautiful. The term is often wrongly used but I truly felt I went on a journey with this record.

A masterpiece: Plain and simple. Right length, right riffs, right instrumental track placement: pure musical ecstasy.

  • fckgod

  • Feh te duci dreaq! Thumbs up everyone

  • And.... there it is... the songs end and it starts raining outside...

  • Horrible

  • @matty0014psn Horrible your fuckin anf fat Mother n_n

  • @MasterLordHannibal lol get calm down dude take a chill pill. x

  • Ahh, just got the first cold day of autumn. Perfect time for listening to Agalloch, brings back very fond memories.

  • I had to go to sleep but I just couldn't take my headphones off..

  • @ElectroPineapple go to sleep to agalloch then

  • The acoustic rhythm is the same that in Harvest (by Opeth) but they don't sound the same of course, really different music.

  • @andrewizz Harvest is a little faster as well.

  • Golliwogg APPROVES of this song.

  • i feel a little ulver in here :D

  • so fucking good!

  • fuck off...fcs people have the right of being stupid but you...you have crossed the line with the fucking comparisons

  • kids: Master of puppets!!1 lml

My lord: This Kids, is agalloch

    Kids: l,,l

My lord: Now kids, we will listen the st anger album

    Kids: Wath?

  • @emngaiden what?

  • Love that double bass sound so much !

  • Life is a clay urn on the mantle

And I am shattered on the floor

  • It doesnt sound like opeth anyway but both are gods of the metal.

Also is that a majorly tuned down chello in the background?

  • @killercour Double bass, i think.

  • It doesnt sound like opeth anyway but both are gods of the metal.

  • fuck comparisons. to each his own. we are not in a beauty contest here.

  • one of the best song ever

  • sounds Scandinavian. Which ofc, as far as metal is concerned is a huge compliment.

    \m/ ( -_- ) \m/

  • imagine the snow and listen to this music..... you will be lost in a blizard

  • Very good song!

  • @NickTorrence

    Thank you.

  • powerfully depressing, love songs like that

  • Life is a clay urn and I am shattered on the floor.

  • man... i remember tripping mushrooms back in texas with my friends listening to this band... good times n good music

  • hot damn that's a tasty song. can i get seconds?

  • Opeth is godly amazing but so is Agalloch so neither win. GTFO trolls.

  • TROLL ALERT! TROLL ALERT!

  • i love both bands, agalloch and opeth... just because you are fans of both doesnt mean you have to sit here and pick apart similarities and differences ... just enjoy and be glad that you have the honor to listen to these great tunes..

  • I love Agalloch, but never "got" Opeth" so lol

  • Drink beer hail odin listen to Agalloch!

  • it sounds to me like your comparing your opinions rather then the music. is not this what it is? shut the eff up and enjoy it rather then bitch about it. you will never find a band like this again. (tho my fingers are crossed against that)

  • Agalloch, Opeth... There's no comparison, just ear pleasure.

  • Just shut up and listen.. Would you be talking while this was on anyway?

  • Metalheads are really fucking stupid sometimes. EVERY fucking video there are stupid and pointless arguments. You guys need to grow up. Just listen to this and shut up. Just because you hear an acoustic guitar in a "metal" song, it doesn't mean they're ripping Opeth off. Opeth and Agalloch are both great bands, so just appreciate them for their individual greatness.

  • @NickTorrance237 i know they dont know that agalloch is folk

  • @NickTorrance237 But only because of the extreme pride metalheads take in the music that they listen to do they argue so much about music itself. Metal will out live most genres. I'm sure all of us believe that. Metal forever.

  • @NickTorrance237 Well to be fair, some of those ignorant justin beaver fan(boy/girls) attack us first dontchyaknow!

  • @NickTorrance237 PART 1 - A lot of Metalheads are youngsters who now have a platform (the internet) to spew out their teenage angst at the world as never before. This 'rebellious-anti establishment' nature is all part of growing up and is encouraged / fostered by the image built up around the 'Metal Scene'. So we can't really blame the kids for having their say, even if it's misdirected at the wrong target.

  • @NickTorrance237 PART 2 - I've personally been listening to Hard Rock / Metal since the late seventies and have learned over the years that everybody's tastes in music are different to some degree, even among my fellow Rockers. It would be nice if the kids would just have to sense to realise that WE are all a 'Metal Brotherhood' and share a special love of a genre of music which the majority of the world just doesn't understand.

  • @nevermore300 I definitely agree with you here. It's just too bad that most people don't recognize this.

  • @NickTorrance237 yeah, if the Metal kids are going to slag anything off...i just wish they'd aim their negative, vitriol comments at the pop music loving world instead of at each other. All these comparisons between one band or another are just a waste of time. I love Opeth but have only just discovered Agalloch. I'll enjoy the music of them both and will just be glad that i'm not having to listen to mainstream crap like many others who don't know of the wonderful alternate music life out there.

  • @nevermore300 I couldn't agree more. The amount of media out there makes a it lot easier to ignore the things you don't like. If you don't like a band or genre, don't listen to it. Its not like its the 50's and you're stuck with what is on the radio. It really is too bad more people don't realize that there is a brotherhood and instead choose to think with their anger, not their brain.

  • Responder a este vídeo... not every metalhead...

  • @NickTorrance237 I totally agree with you, but I think people are just stupid in general..

  • @NickTorrance237 People love comparing EVERYTHING to Opeth. I want to scream every time someone says bands like Agalloch and Novembers Doom "borrows from/is ripping off Opeth."

  • I like how the only 2 comments, from one of the better Agalloch songs, that are "liked" have to do with Opeth.

  • i found this band 30mins ago... im in love

  • Alright I love Opeth and Agalloch.... they sound nothing alike, Ulver or Summoning is the closest I can think of to this band, Opeth, no, not even close, I love all the bands I have mentioned and I challenge anybody to draw any comparisons between them, I only hear inspirations, which is what music is, one great inspiration, just shut the eff up and enjoy the music for what it is.

  • @etherealdrow i love them both too,but to say there is nothing similiar, your just being stubborn. Cmon, both use the same sound on the electic riffs and then switch to acoustic, then low growls, then both use softer vocals, both use keyboards in some songs too. Ok how many bands do all those things in the same way? cmon they are a little similiar, and have some differences too.

  • @etherealdrow Yeah, closer to Ulver, Summoning, Swans, Empyrium. Comparisons are natural, but Agalloch are a pretty unique band, so people shouldn't try so hard to pin them down.

I agree with this comment, just enjoy the music.

  • this is what music should sound like

  • @ang3la18 This IS what music sounds like

  • Agalloch and Opeth have two completely different styles. Stop comparing them you fucking inbreds because they have no similarity and both are amazing bands with their own style.

  • new Agalloch on mu channel

  • this is such an epic song, band, album, music - their songs are like dedicated to solo mercenaries or old viking age warriors who just know to fight but some heroes tried to find the reason of being strong walking through the woods, the mountains, the rivers seeking their answers like Death's song Perennial Quest!!!!!!!!

  • great song

  • this song is so meditative and deep.. is like a ghostly voice comming from the mountains, AGALLOCH..

  • @supersaiayin666

I listen to it everytime I hike alone through the woods. We are so lucky to have AGALLOCH to fill our airwaves and souls!

  • The beginning kinda sounds like The Lodge

  • @EpsilonX It's on the same album. They usually have recurring themes throughout the albums.

  • @EarwigEarl lol well yeah, thats why i brought it up haha.

  • why would you even bother to try comparing agalloch and opeth? they sound nothing alike.

  • @Daniggatron101 they're both progressive and nature-y, and mix acoustic with heavy. It's just one draws from black metal and the other from death metal. But I find them very similar.

  • i love watching fanboy wars on youtube. it makes me giggle.

But throw this in from a 3rd party who doesn't care: Agalloch lists Katatonia as an influence. Mikael Akerfeldt did some singing/writing for them as well as Opeth. Seeing as he is a vocalist and a songwriter, you COULD say that through that small fact, Agalloch and Opeth have some similarities :P

  • Opeth and Agalloch are nothing alike...First off, Agalloch are GOOD where as Opeth USED TO BE...even still, they never sounded remotely alike.

  • What is with the comparison between Opeth and Agalloch? The two bands are completely unrelated, the only similarity they share is that they're both progressive, and thats too vague to build an argument upon

  • @empireofblood Exactly. These are the two bands that I live and breath, and I don't see how anything is accomplished in actually trying to see who would be "better".

  • Why does the drummer seem to mess up sometimes? Shouldn't they have fixed that?

  • @Wheelah23 Its black metal l,,l many people don't understand it.

  • @ReapingAshes Agalloch is most definitely NOT black metal. Nothing against Black Metal, I love it, but Agalloch is not BM.

  • @ServantOvSatan There's definitly some black metal influence going on here, I agree with you 100% though.

  • @Tyler909129 Well yeah, you can't deny that influence. I'm just saying they aren't Black Metal, they guys themselves say so. They are more Post-Black/ Folk, I can't remember what they consider themselves.

  • @ServantOvSatan I'd largely agree with you, but a lot of their stuff, especially the earlier stuff, has a lot of black metal influence. Personally I couldn't put Agalloch in any bracket, other than... GODS.

  • @alphaking300 Well I wasn't denying the Black Metal influence. I am definitely aware of that influence. They just weren't black metal. But I agree, they are Gods.

  • @ServantOvSatan Having listened to their new album, i can tell you that black metal is one of the main genres featuring on the album, its probably some of their heaviest stuff, so they're certainly exploring the influence a lot more these days :)

  • @alphaking300 Oh I certainly agree. I have noticed they have been losing their Folk element. But I still wouldn't call Agalloch Black Metal :) I never denied the influence, just that Agalloch isn't Black Metal.

  • @ServantOvSatan Unfortunate they are losing it.

  • @alphaking300 this is one of my all time favorite albums ever.....there is never a time i cant put the mantle on and feel some kind of release. I blow up at hardcore shows all the time and my genre changes on how i feel...... doom never lets me down and this is a classic....no black metal here just epic...

  • @Wheelah23

It is meant to be that way. Not as in meant to be messed up just for the sake of being kvlt, but purposely delayed because it sounds good.

  • @Wheelah23

It makes it organic, it gives it a human quality, instead of quantizing every beat to be perfect in pro tools.

  • Opeth is my favorite band, it always was and always will be.

So it means i can't listen to Agalloch? no.

Agalloch is an amazing band, Opeth is an amazing band,

    that's pretty much everything....

  • I don't care about who is better. I like all their songs...both bands respectively. All I can say is...at least you all can spell properly lol \,,/

  • metal for naturalists. Love it :) Makes me want to strangle a bear in the Ozarks and roast it over a fire.

  • whoever decided that agalloch and opeth were to good bands to compare and debate about was a fucking idiot and should be skewered by the stag on the cover of the mantle. its ridiculous i might as well compare bruce springsteen and cannibal corpse

  • @Given2theRising LAWL!!!

  • @Given2theRising But it is a fact, that cannibal corpse is ripping off many of bruce's songs and melodies. They are just totally unoriginal, because bruce was first.

  • Agalloch are musical genius. period.

  • Personally I appreciate Agalloch as a very atmospheric folk black metal band, and also as one of the best American Metal bands today. Opeth is by far my favorite band for entirely different reasons, both bands have extremely different sounds and I would never compare the two but usually listen to one right after the other. In fact I'm going to see some live Opeth footage right now, then listen to The Lodge (Dismantled).

  • NIETHER DO I

i think personally i like these guys more jus wish they had more singing in alotta there songs but then again there lyrics are so fantastic i guess thats all thats needs be saysdd

  • These guys are so epic it's retarded.

  • @paperdollburnss Uh... what?

  • @Blashyrkh22 I was expressing my enthusiasm and love for this band, that is all.

  • The Great cold death of the Earth can only mean one thing: Entropy.

  • 3:23 and 3:27 is the best

  • Oh my, This band equal to drug for me...wov. So perfect in everyway. This music is quite far from Opeth; at least to my ears. To be honest I diddn't like Opeth much but I do love this one. Please, oh please come to play in finland some day - you would make my life worth living,

  • oh...my...god...this is perfect

  • superb!!

  • The part at 2:30 is just.... WOW!

  • You can't compare Opeth and Agalloch thats just impossible, they're not even in the same genre. And death growls and shriek isn't the same.

  • Agaloch rules, the most great band I ever heard..

  • The best atmospheric metal band i have ever heard

No, simply the best in any genre!

  • Very great album. Love that sound. Agalloch are very great musicians! Hails from Luxemburg!

  • Is the end of the song "A celebration for the death of man"?

  • @MehdiGlz Yep. And the end of "A Desolation Song" is "The Lodge"

  • I really don't see any resemblance to opeth..

  • A écouter en boucle :-)

  • One of the best bands ever!!!

Do you also listen to ANTIMATTER, HURT e.g....

  • beautiful! this is like the second agalloch song i've ever heard, and its simpley beautiful

  • I love the dramatic orchestral sounds in here! Superb!

  • Opeth and Agalloch are both great...but still apples and oranges....

  • Comment removed

  • Amazingly beautiful, probably my favorite song by them. I love the lyrics too.

  • Great song !!

  • this song and band is godly but i hate people who say they are black metal. they are from the midwest of america people. and they fall under the folk metal genre, along with heidevolk, ensiferum, tyr, and falkenbach

  • @monsterhead13 Black Metal and any other genre of music aint subject to where the band is from but I do agree they arent Black Metal.

  • @monsterhead13 I agree for the most part however they have folk and black metal influences. Also they are from the great Northwest, not midwest.

  • ¡¡Good Songs!!

    I.K.

  • Can opeth fanboys please quit desecrating Agalloch comment board? Thank you.

  • @ragnarok291273 they are two different kinds of music

  • @ragnarok291273 how about liking both of them?

  • This is the definition of "epic". Nuff said.

  • I agree that Opeth is one of the most amazing bands ever but...Im sorry AGALLOCH DOMINATES OPETH!

  • A Beautiful band

  • one of my new favorite bands so powerful yet so relaxing.

  • while Agalloch and Opeth both have an awesome unique sound, there are similarities between the two.

  • omg that song tooked me in another world! :) when heared that i wanted to kill myself! :((. great song.

  • what's agalloch got to do with opeth or vice versa? get your ears fixed, people.

  • the only thing I see that agalloch has to do with opeth is that these 2 are my favorites=)

  • @MRsounddude - Couldn't agree with you more. Both bands are outstanding.

  • I don't know if I am looking into depths or elysian fields... Both.

One of the most beautiful songs I listened to lately.

  • Awesome!!!!

  • that`s my fav. song from them,i love it so much.

    greetings:WolfLoveAngel

  • agalloch is such an amazing band.

  • This is my favorite band, I bought theyre cd while randomely looking for music and I noticed how wonderful the artwork on the case was so I gave it a shot, and after playing It I sat in awe of how amazing it was. This music is so perfect and beautiful, I have honestly never heard anything this good in my life and I own over 200 death/doom/atmospheric cd's, I guess it just relates to me.

  • give Borknagar a try ;)

  • Opeth and Agalloch are two completely different bands. Stop comparing them.

  • lyrically their songs would be a lot shorter

imagine the leper affinity with clean vocals through the whole thing... thats just tasteless

  • this song offends me because I am pro-earth and anti-human. all hail the great Al-gore!

  • @n66178 I know how you feel, I don't know why people are giving you "Thumbs down" they are very ignorant.

  • I was being sarcastic, in case it is not obvious. I am pro-human, anti-central banking, anti-Al-gore, anti-world overlords, anti IMF, anti world debt control. Al-gore is an annoying establishment serving gadfly who has been caught lying and getting the facts wrong. As the late great George Carlin said, the world can save itself, it does not need our help. It will shake us off like a bad case of fleas.

  • There are deeper meaning to this than Opeth comparisons....just feel the music and read the lyrics....

  • that's because opeth's lyrics are utter crap

  • idjit

  • @loveumommy Growling makes 1 death metal band unique? That made me lol.

  • Amo la guitarra medio flamenca y el ambiente tan suave que logran estos weyes...los amo, los mega amo. VIVA AGALLOCH. Gracias a ellos el invierno es sobrellevable.

    Hail.

  • I hate music

  • @n66178

    your mom

  • I hate you

  • I hate bass

  • if i may point ount out that opeth and agalloch love pink floyd most certainly ceertain persons wil agree,,,

  • i studied classical voice and piano in austria and all i wanna do is combine what's in my soul with a band like this...

  • this band is lyrical and poetic...just goes to show you how diverse metal can be

  • opeth is wonderful..so is agalloch.heavy metal has filtered into so many genres... i like cannibal corpse too because of my nephew..all this is what I love cause it requires intelligence and what i call intuitiveness .We were young like you 16 yr olds once but a different era .punk and metal merge.soad.the tapeworm song..ya know music moves a person and if if they can play so be it dont be pissed at the way we humans do our thing.

  • This might sound shocking but i was never really into Opeth, Agalloch is and always the choice for me.

  • i love Opeth but just discovered Agalloch.

i think Opeth is Opeth and Agalloch is Agalloch and who gives a shit. if you like one then listen to it. its not a one-or-the-other situation or anything

  • @cheesewheel08

    seriously.

  • @cheesewheel08 opeth is more death metal, i hear more of a black sound in agalloch

  • @cheesewheel08 They're both my favorite bands, and for different reasons. In ways Opeth tops Agalloch, Agalloch comes with material that is a perfect rebuttal. Overall, taking the time to form a decision between the two is pointless. Both are Gods of the musical industry.

  • @cheesewheel08 and thats whats prime bout music / no one can tell you whats good cause whats good comes from inside your own mind

  • @cheesewheel08 I love Opeth and just discovered Agalloch, I love them both :D
