This 'rebellious-anti establishment' nature is all part of growing up and is encouraged / fostered by the image built up around the 'Metal Scene'. Alright I love Opeth and Agalloch.... they sound nothing alike, Ulver or Summoning is the closest I can think of to this band, Opeth, no, not even close, I love all the bands I have mentioned and I challenge anybody to draw any comparisons between them, I only hear inspirations, which is what music is, one great inspiration, just shut the eff up and enjoy the music for what it is.

@etherealdrow Yeah, closer to Ulver, Summoning, Swans, Empyrium. Comparisons are natural, but Agalloch are a pretty unique band, so people shouldn't try so hard to pin them down.

Personally I appreciate Agalloch as a very atmospheric folk black metal band, and also as one of the best American Metal bands today. Opeth is by far my favorite band for entirely different reasons, both bands have extremely different sounds and I would never compare the two but usually listen to one right after the other. In fact I'm going to see some live Opeth footage right now, then listen to The Lodge (Dismantled).

This is my favorite band, I bought theyre cd while randomely looking for music and I noticed how wonderful the artwork on the case was so I gave it a shot, and after playing It I sat in awe of how amazing it was.
