The judges being from California had nothing to do with it. Kessler got owned, period. Ward was winning long before the headbutts landed, and Kessler had no answer to Ward's speed and lateral movement. Kessler's a frontrunner. If he's not ahead in a fight, he falls apart, and that's what really happened.

Hagler was great. But you rarely see blacks fighting that way. Watch Pernell Whitaker, he was great but didn´t hurt many people and besides the usual hugging before and after punching, he literally used to run !!! Most do that nowadays. I think it´s a cultural issue.

I think it depends how they were trained not really being black. A boxer like Mike Tyson trained under Cus is totally different than someone like Ray Leonard.
One thing about kessler is he is sound and solid in all phases of orthodox boxing. But he is terrible if you can get him to back up. Calzaghe Figured it out and started making him back up and when kessler tried not to back up he got picked apart.
This is what happened in that fight, Kessler was getting to Calzaghe in the first four rounds. Calzaghe went to plan B, the jab, and Kesslers corner did a terrible job to adapt to the situation until the 12th round where Kessler finally realised the situation and went into the offensive. But it was to late.
Another thing, Kesslers hand was injured prior the to the fight which had limited his sparring training. He wasn't fully fit going in to the fight. A rematch would be a different story.
That is a pretty good assesment of the fight Hammerhook12. I don't know what would happen in a rematch just like I didn't know who would win the first on. I saw when calzaghe started droppin his hands in round 4 kessler like everyone else stopped being agressive. Calzaghe drops his hands,dodges the jab and throws those lightning looping shots with both hands. He throws all those angles and kessler should have been fainting then throwing his 1-2 1-2. Been watching Kessler and Joe a lot.. Kessler will be mugged, he is going to be fighting backwards and Joe has much faster hands.. Great that they are doing this.. Joe will win on points.. Wont really be too close... Joe has the chin, the speed, enough power to put of Kessler and better footwork..

kessler looks mighty impressive here no doubt, but you must consider the lethargic pace of granite chin here....joeC is a different kind of welsh beast--he will be in attack mode boxin and fightin back..it should be a great fighter cuz kesslers fundamentals look really solid and joe is a master crafster...gona knock some ass faster...ya ya ya..

evey joe fan is talking about how fast joe is.. He isnt that fast when you look at how he boxes.. He got fast hands but not floyd mayweather speed.. Not nearly floyd mayweathers speed.. And believe me kessler fought Mundine who is a lot faster then calzaghe and he beated him without big problems.. Joe got fast hands but he isnt fast enough that kessler cant hit him..
