  • Top comments need to understand that the lyrics are good, they just need to listen to them once more. It talks about a kids life under a fathers care who doesn't much care for him. The kid is frustrated, so he takes it up with the kids who pick on him. simple and great.

  • All of you are saying that It's about diffrent stuff. Fuck it, stop say that it IS what YOU think it is.

  • @MrJontekarlsson Fortunately, people can say whatever they want to say whether you agree with them or not. It's a beautiful thing, freedom.

  • This song was not to "glamorize" these acts of violence like the columbine shooting. It was made to give notice as to the effects of bullying. And how teachers and parents are not doing enough to prevent it. People tend to think it is not a huge problem and that other kids should get tough and suck it up. But that's promoting violence within itself!! Bullying comes from the ignorance and stupidity of others. We should not be accepting this as something "kids do".

  • Hey there let me tell you about this awesome app called junowallet. They pay you credits for downloading free apps (that you can then delete) after that you go and exchange you credits for ms points, psn points, Starbucks, iTunes cards, and more. You can also like Facebook pages to get credits. Now go download junowallet from the app store or android market and when it asks for a reference code enter BG596085 to get a little starting bonus!!!!! Thanks!!!!

  • This song was referenced to by a junior at a local highschool last night in a tweet, before arriving at school this morning, shooting 5 students, leaving 3 in critical condition, parents frightened and my community very upset. There is nothing good about gratifying or glamorizing incidents like this, or children who feel like this.

  • @alleybow1 and one of the 5 is dead now.

  • I understand your issue. However i believe it should be noted that violent music cannot be held responsible for such situations as you have described. Those situations are simply caused by loony people with psychological issues and unbalanced serotonin levels. Is it not a fair assumption to say that if this song was not in existence, the junior you mentioned would have proceeded with his violent act, just without the tweet? It simply provided a sarcastic pun to his sadistic and demented act.

  • @glaedros Yeah, it seems these kids are socio/psychopaths anyways. I was thinking after all this. I grew up in a rough home, played violent games, listened to crazy music, but never hurt anyone.

  • and one last thing, is bullying really getting that bad? is high school likened to the jungle where the gazelles break for it and they all watch the one that got caught and killed in front of them all? i'm just saying the way i see bullying working is cause kids just don't give a fuck. now how is that right?

  • why are the lyrics bad? who are the kids with the pumped up kicks? how many kids gotta get they heads blown the fuck off before they start learning to stop bullying people, gay, race, height, disabilities i'm just saying...all the other kids with the pumped up kicks better run from a pistol grip pump on a lap at all times. ya never know so play nice.

  • THUMBS UP SO PEOPLE CAN SEE! :)) The lyrics of this song is dedicated to the kids who went on suicide because of bullying. That's why they say you better run, better run because they are preventing bullies from bullying. :D

  • Stupidly catchy tune :)

  • Its de great!!!!;]

  • whoa there now... the music really hooks you in but the lyrics are a teeny but disturbing. ah.

  • Wat a shitty video way to ruin the song douchebag

  • Love it my fave song whooooooooooo

  • wait lol this song wasnt released until september 2010, how did this person post this in February of 2010? And then it got popular in August of 2011? Wtf?

  • Thumbs up if Zack and Tyalor from Ellen bought you here hahaha

  • Oh god this music is catchy as hell!

  • Ellen brought me here.

  • @xChuckZitox dude, stfu he said the lyrics make him think of a school shooting which is what there about. So what he didn't say that he heard them, turned into the hulk and shoot kids with kicks. Calm yer self haha

  • muy buen ritmo muy buena letra i like me

  • One of the best songs ever

  • I sang an acoustic cover of this song on my page! if you have 2 minutes to spare, please check it out and let me know what you think, it would mean the world to me :)

  • i did an acoustic cover of pumped up kicks on my page! it would mean THE WORLD to me if someone checked it out, please I beg of you!

  • honestly, the greatest drinking song ever!!

  • Awesome song if u like this check out up and coming band - 5 days of November !

  • @Joelkimbrough13 Wtf no its not

  • I like the song, but listen to the lyrics I don't know the intentions these lirics. They remind me of the colombine shooting

  • @minime21o First its lyrics and Columbine Highschool. Second if a song makes you shoot someone you are a loser. Your parents should be blamed for never teaching you common sense. Tired of idiots blaming one song or a game for making them act violent. This is just an excuse. I do these very same things, yet I do not shoot anyone. Amazing!!! If people looked at what went on previous to the violent act they might actually figure out the answer. Parents failed to raise you right.

  • @minime21o One of the band members (Cubbie Fink) had a cousin who survived Columbine. Check out the song background on wikipedia ... and check out our video which depicts the meaning of the lyrics.

  • @EyeTracksTop10 ok woopty doo idc anymore. i can do my own research. but thanks though. u spammin my email

  • @minime21o Lol sorry.

  • @minime21o He wrote it to bring awareness to gun violence's influence on youth, believe it or not.

  • @JBrewer4386 ok woopty doo idc anymore. i can do my own research. but thanks though. u spammin my email

  • @minime21o lyrics intention is avenging bullied in an organized way.

  • Catchy tune bad lyrics

  • @hoey666 whats ur problem man? all i gave was my opinion. respect it like all the other guys.

  • isn't weird how everyone's white?

  • @brose2k not really, no..

  • I can play this on the piano!

  • @joelkimbrough13 no it's about the columbine school massacre, two gifted kids got bullied and were eventually driven to killing the "cool kids" and then themselves

  • @JaesonD2 I think it's more about Robby who doesn't have a good life at home: dad comes home late, frozen dinner, etc. He sees all the other kids around town, and is jealous of their life (the pumped up kicks). He's saying those kids better watch out for themselves, because, even with their better lives, they can't outrun a bullet.

  • @BlastFromYesterday don't take this the wrong way but I did quite a bit of research (lame I know) and the bass player from the band had a cousin in the middle of the massacre, and they did mention it in an interview

  • @JaesonD2 No that's fine. I haven't looked into it at all; what I said is what I take away from it.

  • These pictures do notmatch this song at all this song is about kids killing other kids for there shoes

  • just can't get rid of this song, throughout my head!

  • To: Amber and Tomi

  • All the other kids with common sense

    will find a better solution

All the other kids with common sense

    will use their heads

instead of a cowards' way out.

  • Hey I can cuss, I am Bad. Wow!

  • @demetriusco1 I'm not going even going to lie, you just made yourself sound like such an idiot.

  • Most of these pictures are insanely inappropriate considering the subject of the song. I don't think the person who made the video really got it.

  • @stopthehypocrrsy It's about the columbine shootings you fucking idiot.

  • Comment removed

  • @princessgrapefruit1 It wasn't about any specific shooting.

  • This is such a wuss song that even dare's to have a gun in the conversation/lyrics. The sound would be fitting coming out a Chuck E Cheese establishment

  • Good song like the beat and rhythm

  • does anyone remember like two years ago when all of foster the peoples videos had about 100 views

  • *song

  • One of the best songs i ve ever heard C:

  • My second favorite song about murder and the best hit song of the year

  • Thats nice for you

  • i like this song mostly for the lyrics.

  • Le grand journal :)

  • Ok do here goes, I'm not even going to lie, I loved this song the first time I heard it, but after listening to the meaning it's kind of crazy, I was one of those kids who got picked on in school, but I'm also the one that got tired and started fighting back, if you got problems go to the source, random violence is so pointless, also I wear nice clothes too, does that mean I need to be shot, gtf outa here,

  • @demetriusco1 I don't think they're entirely trying to convey that people who wear nice clothes need to be shot. I think it's more of a statement on the origins of the violence of students in school settings. The "narrator" of the song itself identifies his aggressors as the other kids with the "pumped up kicks" and seeks to avenge himself against them. I don't think the point of the song itself is to condone such behavior as much as it is to comment on its origins.

  • i reason with my cigarette

  • i heard this on the radio and typed down "better run"

  • Where did you get this version, with that extended opening?

  • Likee

  • Just so you guys know, this song is not about a school shooting. There was a depressed kid up in North Dakota, i believe, who was deeply depressed. He went into a mall with a semi-auto version of an AK. His name was Robert something.

  • I like the sound of the voice at the beginning. It has that "old radio sound."

    Very retro! :- )

  • The woman to the left at 1:32 looks like Lady GaGa.

  • * Follow me on twitter *

  • What in the hell is this song about? Lyrics make no sense.

  • @LeoHughes302 yeah they do..its about a kid getting bullied and abused and getting sick off it, so he goes on a shooting spree, hence the lyrics " all the kids witht he pumped up kicks ( the kids with the nice shoes and the cool kids ) better outrun his gun :), something like that anyway. lol

Oh, how I love Mark Foster, Mark Pontius, and Cubbie Fink and their music. I'm hoping to see them in June at the Gibson Theature.

  • Goood

  • Awesome Music ;)

  • if those kids with pumped up kicks were Kenyans then they'll outrun your bullet and gun. If they're Americans, their fat would just absorb them in.

  • @littlemanjre "Pumped Up Kicks" is a song by American indie pop band Foster the People. It was released as the group's debut single in September 2010... years ago you say... try researching before commenting... Dickhead...

  • @3kimkim3 Are you stupid? This video was uploaded February 19, 2010. The song obviously came out before September...

  • @3kimkim3 the comment was posted a week ago so technically it was a year ago, try reading before you make yourself look like a douchebag

  • @3kimkim3 Well, that does make it years ago, now doesn't it?

  • @3kimkim3 This song was released in September 2010?, this video was posted February 2010, so, try researching before commenting... Dickhead...

  • @3kimkim3 Wow! What a cracking flash pass at supersonic speed! ..Great song... I'm stoked but old sadly now.. so I've heard a few more than most... but none that take me back to the good times like this one!
