@NazarethR I just think that recognizing Israel as the Jewish State means accepting that Israel is the homeland of the Jewish people - Israeli-Jews want acceptance from the Arab World. The Arab World, you have to admit, has refused to recognize any minority rights to self determination - whether it be for Assyrians, Kurds, Copts, or Amazigh. Israel is still however secular and democratic - its not a religious state and you need not become Jewish to be Israeli and participate in society

But Israeli nationality is not solely Jewish. It includes Arab Muslims, Christians, and Druze. If dialog and recognition of this level existed in Africa there would be millions still alive. Israel is far from perfect, very far. But that they allow representation is something NOT to be damned. There is no black & white here, but the beginnings of dialog. This is not evil.

In order for the the state to stay together and not be divided the constitution talks never succeed because of it did one side would lose and be irritated and take irrational actions and Israel would collapse.
Arab citizens make up about 17% of Israel's population. they make up 10& of Israel's Knesset members, and 5% of all civil servants. This is pretty good representation for a minority suffering terrible discrimination.
Interesting that the network only considers Muslims to be "Palestinian Israeli Arab", but seem to completely overlook the Bedouins, and of course the Druze, as well as the Arab Christians (and not to mention the Jews of Arab decent).
The broad picture is that there was a holocaust in Europe and jews must be seen as the only victims yada, yada, yada... antisemitism...all arabs bad....

Israel doesn't ONLY have a Basic Law, it has an unwritten constituation with supplemental laws, like Britain among other countries.
