  • Oh my goodness I miss the globe and anchor I remember I went to Zukrean elementary. MEMORIES!!!!!!!!!!

  • My memories of Okinawa are somewhat vague. Camp Foster was the one next to Kadena AFB I'm assuming? That being the case, the SR-71 "Black Bird" would fly low and slow right over head, a sight to behold.

Took up Scuba Diving after getting bored doing the same things the rest of you degenerates did. There was a Sea Wall along the Ocean you see in this video. I spent most of my off-duty time snorkeling and free-diving here. God knows how much sewage dumped into this; corral life was spectacular.

  • I was thrown out of that E-Club a few times. Same with the Airmans Club on Kadena AFB.

  • Thanks for video!! Good memories. 1988-1989

  • spent almost 3 years on Camp Foster 85-86-87.

Google Earth shows that both my Barracks, and my shop are now gone..

12th Marines HQ Btry. Comm PLT.

  • ah the old hook n jab also known as the globe n anchor

  • I used to know this as Camp Sukiran in 1963-64. Home of the 12th Marines (my regt) and 173rd Airborne Brigade. I left in August 64 and flew down to Danang and Phu Bai right after the Tonkin Gulf incident...sort of before VN became popular...but I have my memories of a mountain top event that hang with me to this day....

  • Wow that brought back some memories. MWSS 174

  • Oct/Nov 2007.

  • what year was that video taken? I was there 85-87

  • ahhh good old camp foster, I only missed it when I left. I was 3rd tsb "red patcher" and worked at the Moter pool and lived in 5718. That was in 01-02. Anyone remember the crosseyed guy who drove the roach coach? lol

  • was stationed at camp foster from 1999 to 2000. Lived in barracks next to armory. MWSS-172. The town next door was very nice and the beaches were excellent. I kinda miss that place now.

  • the hook and jab

  • Camp Foster..Oorah!! 3rd FSSG..Supply..Hitting the club every Thursday Night Gate 2 Street....and going to PT with no sleep ..drunk as a skunk....00-01 Sempi Fi..

  • Holy crap, dude... hold the camera still. LOL

  • Thanks for visiting and comment. Glad to help with the memories.

  • hey man this is nice i used to live here but i lived on the side of the base with zukeran elementary. i lived in the towers next to kubasaki high school. i just moved away from okinawa in september its the best place.

  • Thanks for visiting. Glad to help the Marine family stay in touch and understand where they are going to/from.

  • Thanks for posting. Nice to see where my son is heading next. Semper Fi!

  • Thanks, not that it matters but I spent all of 68 there with the 3rd FSR. It was a really large Army base and we just had a Supply Regiment.

Looks like it's changed up just a tad bit since then. Make's me want to take stroll down BC street.

    Thanks

  • I only saw for a few days in 1968 when I rotated back to 'world' from my Nam tour. Then for a whole year in 72-73

  • Cool video I was at Camp Foster from 92-93 3rd LSB (red patchers) I drank alot of beer at the Globe & Anchor.

  • Enjoy the memory. During my tour 1972-73 this was an Army base. Do you know when the Marines took over?

  • I did not know it was an Army base I did a google search and could not find anything. That is the Globe & Anchor E-club right? That is cool that you where able to travel back there.

  • Way back when Camp Foster was an army base; Camp Zukeran. The elementary school at Cp Foster sign still reads Zukeran Elementary.

  • Not sure when Marines took over but I was station at Camp Foster with 3rd MarDiv 3rdFSSG in 1977. At that time the Army still had a few personnel on the base.

  • My exp. goes back 28 years ago. Looking down the hill it looks like one the buildings where the USO and a cafeteria were located. Just below the buildings was a movie theater. I don't know if they are still there but that was the last of what I remembered. On a another note it's kind of sad to know that Makiminato (another housing area) was demolished. Oh the memories. I plan on returning..can't wait.

  • Globe and Anchor was the first club that I went to! Okinawa was amazing!

  • Thanks for watching, Marine. Glad to help with some memories. Mine go back 35 years ago just after the island reverted back to Japan.

  • i miss okinawa so much ahah ive been right were you are mane

  • Glad to show you some memories, Marine. Mine go back 35 years to my tour.
