  • SPEAKING of the OLE'WAREHOUSE... you can find THAT FEELING at the BRUCKNER BAR and GRILL .. not far from the warehouse -- THIS SATURDAY OCTOBER 15th.. for ONE BANGIN' Ol'BRUCKNER GRILL PARTY.. with WAREHOUSE DJ.. ANDRE COLLINS on deck!! STOP ON THRU!! 10P-4A .#1 Bruckner Boulevard....

  • Sweating on dance floors to this tune in 1997 on 'E' Great times : )

  • The proper version :-)

  • (Cont'd) Music is so powerful, it goes from your ears straight to your heart. And it's impossible to dance and be self-conscious @ the same time, because to really dance is to let yourself go. And once a roomful of people are on that same page, really letting go, it becomes a tribal thing, and we forget all about the man-made divisions(i.e. 'race', zip code, level of education, income, sexual orientation, etc.) and we find our commonality & reconnect as the human family we're supposed to be.

  • @mrmiles725 Amen!

  • @mrmiles725 Amen

  • No disrespect to anyone, but I really dislike that 'House is a feeling' thing. It's just folk parroting what they've heard other folk say over and over. To me, house is for people who view the dance floor as their church. For it is on the dance floor that one experiences music the way G_d should be experienced, spiritually(ah, yes!) as opposed to religiously(boo!). Because spirituality is the experience of G_d minus the judgmental bullshit.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG.......

  • Do you understand that guitar?????Whoooooaaaaaaaa!! .. Its fucking talking to your mind and soul!!!!!!

  • PELLE D'OCA!

  • I have read in an interview that during the recording,it took George Benson just one take to play his part.

  • @djenjoy I got a vhs tape of the making of the Nuyorican Soul album. He actually played the guitar while waiting for them to set up the recording in the studio. They were recording him playing as he was just strumming. They scrapped what they had planned and built the rest of the song off of that.Props go to Lil Louie and Kenny Dope for a brilliant track with a legend like George Benson.

  • fraudley harrison! yipikayee! ahh what the hell,im a stupid mofo. hallellujah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great song!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • As an old saying goes.

    House is a feeling!

It comes from the the music played in the old "warehouse" club in new york, which was basically a disco club, and the name got shortened because people would go into the record store and ask for the music that was played in the warehouse, hense, house!

So house music (although generally it has a four four repetative beat) can be anything you like!

Anyway, who gives a fuck, if you like it, why catogorize it!?

  • Wasn' t the 'Warehouse' in Chicago (Frankie Knuckles DJ) and the 'Paradise Garage' (Larry Levan DJ) in New York dude??

  • @spermbank1 Just a slight but very important correction to you.

The warehouse was in chigago, not new york & the name got shortened to "house" because the record store didn't have enough window space or room to fit the entire name. Hence the name or phrase house music.

  • @spermbank1

the warehouse was in chicago !?!?!

  • @spermbank1 well said my man

  • @spermbank1 house muzik was called that cause that's were it came from....because of the Linn drum and midi which allowed poor urban kids the opportunity to create tracks at home without having to go the "Studio" which most could not afford....so this muzik done at home was called house...which Chicago claims to have coined....not only is it a feeling..it's universal...but most of all it's Soulful..most of the House?? of today lack imagination and creativity.....thnx for the post....Peace & Love

  • What you talkin' about doesn't get started until 3 mins in? If you're a jazz musician (or appreciate the talent of jazz musicians), it gets started at the very friggin' beginning! LMFAO!

  • simply beautiful, classy

  • My two: As an old head late to house/MAW, but early to jazz/GB, I would not immediately categorize this as "house music". But why

categorize great music, which is what this collabo is. Call it what you want, its got a smooth, jazzy, flow that anyone who truly loves house and dance can get with. If your body don't move or you head don't nod, check your pulse- you might be dead. ;)

  • fraudley harrison. yipikayeeee! ahh what the hell, hallellujah!!!!!! go back to the drawing board, clim mountains, ahh ive had enough of this already.

  • A classic .. Bar none ... I remember rocking to this on my way to the shore (it was my 18th bday , driving around in a 89 hyundai excel , lol ...I didnt have the Cd I had the tape and the case was in the shape of a cigar box ... Freaking awesome .. Good one man ... If you can post Taita Caneme ,that would be great :)

  • Same memory here. Amazing track.i was Dreaming away in my VW Golf with this track. AnTaita Caneme gives you the rest.

  • Hell yes man ... There needs to be another Nuyorican Soul Project ....

  • i use 2 start my dj sets with that track. The peoples firs thought wtf is that and then they use 2 ask the name of the track.*lol*

  • Very hip GB!

  • Beautiful piece of guitaring here by the master. But this isn't house because it doesn't have the crucial Four on the Floor beat that ALL house tracks have. Check out my house remix of this track.

  • Congratulations, you're a fucking moron.

Have you not listened to this album? If you had you would not make such a statement. Do your homework on the track.

Your claim that this isn't house music is effing ridiculous. While it does not carry the standard bass kick every beat, it does carry a 4/4 time signature. Even you should have realized this when you responded with your embarrassing remix.

And HA! All house music tracks have a four on the floor beat? You're seriously joking, right?

  • that was just my opinion, i don't know why u are so full of hate and anger. am i supposed to be embarassed for voicing my opinion on youtube? that is ridiculous

  • by the way your need to insult me is unnecessary, what i meant was that the mix i put up was a more typical sound of house.. and im sure lots of people agree with me, but if you want to be nazi go ahead buddy, insult me and other people all day... im gonna always voice my opinion like i always do

  • sorry, but he is right. this track is house in his purest art. if you don't recognize that you you don't know nothing about housemusic.

  • the thing is... it doesn't have the four-on-the- floor beat most house tracks have. its the key, its gotta be prominent so you don't lose track of the main bumping beat.

  • men, thats why its pure because its somenthing other. something new.

  • Im a house music producer/dj and this is NOT house music

  • same comment like upstairs. that you call youreself a housemusic producer dont mean you know what house is. sorry that is house with a long intro but still house. at least who gives a shit. its a amazing track. house or not.

  • you're right, it's soulful house, theres different kinds of house, deep , minimal ,progressive, hard , etc

but I bet you know that already

I wanna hear your sounds im always looking for new things

  • then you do have the house feeling

  • There's a lot of folks on YouTube with serious chemical imbalances, mate :-) Whenever you see a comment that starts with (or includes) "you're a moron" or some other form of supposed "cynical wit", just ignore it! It's just a person that didn't "take their meds" today, or doesn't realize that they have a chemical imbalance :-) Responding to them validates their behavior. I'm sure you knew that already though, right?

  • I loved this so much - when given free rein with the guitar George Benson can make you weep. Got to be economic listening to this or I become tearful, swear to God.

The story behind this is that Kenny and Louie had a track planned to give to George Benson, but when they heard him just freestyle like that, they were so enraptured that they chucked it all out and just built this around the guitar. Beautiful.

  • MAW!! Absolutely amazing! George Benson!!! Classic!!! This track like most of his work is timeless. If you soul can't go into a zone off this and you don't loose your self kn the groove you are completely souless!!

  • Agree, if you dont like it, then you are souless!

  • @DudeRoss72

I know this song for its epic guitar intro, but I never took time to find out who it was. Then just now I saw a instructional clip of Benson and I recognized his play right away! such a distinct style... Like a boss!

  • Thats one deep moving tune.I loved it the first timeI heard it all those years ago. From start to finish pure sound going right to the soul.

    Thanks

  • God damn, what an artist....George Benson is amazing.

  • Oh, Baby. Can You do it? Yeeh... U Can Do it! Mmm... I love it. Wonderful!!

  • the most amazing starter of a dj set. even years later i still play that song and peoples get crazy with it. What a record.

  • to bad they are not doing stuff like this no more, louie and kenny should have never broken up. i got into djing cuz of louie and his risktaking but that is all gone. hes stuck in that one style and all the records are starting to sound the same.real true masters at work fans will know this was the best album they have done and wont be touched again. god i would remember playin the 15min version to this and the crowd would just go into a zone. damn it why cant music of today be like this

  • Music cant be like this, because there is hardly anybody who has the skills, and talent to make it. Music (the stuff you hear that is mainstream) is nothing more than a cash spinner, its not about soul. Thats what music needs. Imo, there are only a couple of people making music with soul. Check out 4 hero, they still have soul.

  • Here here.

The genre, in my opinion, has fallen to shit. Yeah, there are still handfuls of quality work being produced on a fairly regular basis, but with technology being what it is today, a 12 year old kid can bang around on a synth for a few days and produce a track worth selling without any knowledge of music theory.

This track is an AMAZING example of proper musicianship with house music. I wish more artists incorporated live, acoustic instrumentation into their music.

  • This is a Jazz-pop, house music masterpiece. I love directing George Benson fans to this video as many of his most die hard fans have never heard this.

    He's a class act.

  • george, ma vie sans toi, pas possible.

  • This is so smooth! I'm gonna have to get this one, and bring to the beach!

  • First release and i had to purchase.

    best for summer time.

Maximum respect to MastersAW on this beat. :)

  • i love it!

  • this music is heavnly! Straight from the mellow gods!!

  • This card when played correctly will turn out any venue.

This is a soulful, jazzy, masterpiece.

  • This joint right here is from the album nuyorican soul, which i think was very underrated. This album has all kind of collaborations such as Roy Ayers, Jazzy Jeff, George Benson and many others. If you can, add this to your musical library. It's strictly an ear orgasm.

  • I couldn't agree with you more

  • this in from the album nuyorican soul

  • yeah, cool

  • Oi! spermbank1, well done sir!!

  • WTF!!! This is my first listen to this track! and i'm a longstanding Benson fan too! WTF! its "the world is a ghetto" all over again, a la "el barrio"!! Fantastic! fantastic!! what album's this on? I was considering passing up a benson concert in june, i'm sorry, but now i see why i fell in love with his guitar phrasing.lyrical!!

  • This is on a rare compiliation album, called Disco Jazz.

    Glad you like it!

  • Love the guitar solo from George Benson :) just so lovely!

  • Magnifique !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Aaaaaaaahhhhh! This just hits the spot.

  • a work of pure timeless genius

  • Tis is tha joint.

  • when i first listened and felt the words and music. This brought tears to my eyes, and it still does.

  • Glad you like it!!

  • Awesome song... Benson is a madman!

  • Mandman = Genious!!!
