  • I miss ABQ and dancing to this song at Midnite Rodeo. Best time of my life 1989-1992.

  • Born and raised and home is home. With stunning mountians and a great view of the city lights.

  • Sounds like he might've had an influence on some country rock bands, a bit of

a Jimmy Messina, Poco, Firefall, Pure prarie league sound.

  • ilove this

  • The one person who disliked this obviously hasn't been to Albuquerque. I miss the lights of Albuquerque.

  • Jim is a great songwriter, one of the best.

  • Never get tired of listening to JIM! Absolutely beautiful song!

  • great for sure

  • I never get tired of this song. I have lived in Albuquerque for 33 years, It was on a jute box at a place I worked and we listened to it several times a night.

  • I watched TNN's Nashville Now and it was always a treat when Jim was on the show. He still is an exceptional talent. He always appeared to enjoy being on stage and singing to the audience.

  • @paigesavannah1

IF I COULD ONLY DANCE WITH YOU from the CFRV is also on now! You will have to search for it.

  • Wonder why "Woman, Woman" on Country Family Reunion Videos was taken off You Tube and yet Rhonda Vincent, Ricky Skaggs, etc. are still on???? We want "Woman, Woman" back!

  • ALBUQUERQUE is a piece of shit RIP off town ... I LOVE IT, BECAUSE I WAS BORN THERE. but it really is a piece of shit . JUST STAY AWAY AND YOU'LL HAVE BETTER LUCK- :) GOODLUCK ABQ. !!!

  • I love Albuquerque

  • Just moved to Albuquerque because of this song! It's so beautiful here. No regrets!

  • This was a song i used to hear coming through back in the 80s and 90s trucking through. Great song.

  • Great song! Great city! I was passing through on my way to LA in 1980. Stopped and ended up staying 26 years. Two kids and two DUI's later, I regreattably had to move on. The lights of Albuquerque will always shine bright in my heart.

  • Hey Mark! Thanks for turning me on to this song. Hope you're doing well! ~Marshall~

  • My Great Uncle Jim... <3

  • I've been living in Alaska for the past six years. I have lived in other parts of the country and even other places on the glob. I'll always be a New Mexico boy. Now I just order Green Chili off the internet. But there's no place like home. Bury my heart on the Sandias.

  • Me too! They need to post more of his stuff with a little better quality would be nice but I 'm not knocking you david245 thanks for posting this atleast! So we can see this one for now . I to am an Albuquerquean and I also miss the green and red chile but most of all I miss the people who cook it and don't forget the pinion nuts to! • I can actually remember when I saw Jim Glaser in Salt Lake City Utah when I was age 16 yeah that is right and now I am wondering whatever happened to him .He is a legend back in my time . The Lights of Albuqerque is one of my favorite songs of his . I wish he was still around . This is considered real classic country .I just wish somebody could bring him to Grand Junction Colorado or I wish I knew what happened to him . I love his music so much and I miss it now.

  • @johnjones72

Jim is still around. He still performs around Nashville and Michigan. He has a great show and still sounds great.

  • MEMORIES ...I REMEMBER HEARING THIS SONG AT MIDNIGHT RODEO , USED TO GO TO DENIM N DIAMONDS AND LATER CACTUS MOON ...DAMN THOSE WERE THE DAYS

  • 1 person hates everything about life.

  • WOW, what a voice! No one can do it like Jim Glaser. And he still sounds great from what I hear!

  • reminds me of going down the big I25 into abq to visit from san diego ca.. rep mom i miss ya,,,, your son..

  • Albuquerque!!!!!!!!!!

  • Born and raised in El Paso. I used to dance this song at Margaritas! LOVE IT!!

    "Simply the Best"

    DeLucci,

  • just learned this superb song on my guitar...gonna sing it down my local club this weekend...hope the crowd love it as much as i do !!!!!!!!!

  • Jimmy is in a class by himself among the high tenors. Superb!

  • WTF yu leave for Iraq for fool :\

  • I was backstage that night! What a voice!!!

  • Found accidently. Born in Chicago and nothing warms my heart more then seeing her lights at night from a plane. When I see Abq's my heart soars more knowing what is out there in the black edges.

  • Has anyone tried to see if you can download this on limewire? I cant find it anywhere else.

  • @TheAzCardinals2009

I cant find it either and I love this song..:(

  • @tiggereies It was on the cd release of Man in the Mirror.

  • where can anybody get a dl of this song? i did searches , even in amazon, its not available.... help :)

  • @chasemice

As recently as a year ago, you could still find some of his music to at least download or on ebay. Not anymore. Why is a mystery to me and many other people. However, I did find a used Man in the Mirror CD available on Amazon UK - shipping from the US...if you hurry, you may get a copy

  • @chasemice Last i knew he owns all his rights so any copies are hard to find unless you buy a record or get a download notice this is even a poor copy, my brother got me a album from e-bay years ago for x-mas buts thats why i was told you cannot find it1

  • The one person who didn't like this is a fag.

  • Uncle Jim, you rock!

  • This song reminds me of all the nights that my girl and I used to dance where we met and worked at Denim and Diamonds in el paso

  • Wow! I remember that place. When they play this song at whiskey dicks its awesome...

  • This song is beautiful and the only time i hear it is on you tube, or when I go to a country bar to hear it ALQ is beautiful.. nice memories with this song.

  • i love abq!!!!!!!!!!

  • I heard this song years ago in my parents collection. It is the most perfect song ever made! (Quality of voice skills and music) He is a trained artist. He sings so clear. You don't hear music quality like much. Seeing this video was a delight and honor. Thank you for posting.

  • This will always remind me of D. Sigh.....

  • This was our song. Why did he lie? He just had to tell the truth. I would have understood. Sigh. This will always remind me of D.

  • No matter what people say, no matter what they think, if they live here for any period of time and move away, or if they visit Albuquerque and return home, they will always miss this city. It has a higher crime rate, and it's not a very big city, but the attributes far outweigh any negatives. Topping Nine Mile Hill and seeing a blanket of gold in front of you, is the most heartwarming feeling. To me, returning from Iraq, Kosovo, and anywhere else, was coming home to Albuquerque. Beautiful!

  • @elevenpastsix doubt that

  • Awesome song. Old school. Nothing like it anymore!!!

  • i hate albuquerque :p i wanna move, but i love this song. anyone know where to find the damn picking progression he uses? and i havnt found any chord tabs on the web where it say he uses a capo on the 2nd!!!! >:o damn incorrect tab peeple

  • great song

  • This song is awesome and I cant find it anywhere to put in my ipod...

  • I will take my Lota Burger now

  • @07311952 Hey, I'm from the Navajo Nation, and I've traveled a lot. I'm currently in FL. I luv burgers, but there ain't a burger like Blake's Lotaburger w/ fries and a Pepsi. When I fly into Albuq. I always want to stop by Blake's regardless what my family says, since they want to go to a family restaurant.

  • @crazedcountryrebel3 Currently stuck in south fla also and miss the smell of green chilies roasting back home used to go to school in silver city gota love blakes or even whataburger

  • Very few can go up on those high notes like Jimmy boy!

  • Albuquerque Is The Greatest City Ever!

  • Nothing like the Duke City

  • Gotta love this song. A reminder of my first visit to Albquerque and I heard this is a country bar, a gay bar as a matter of fact. Now I have my own copy and live in Tierra Del Fuego.

  • OHHHHH! My first visit ever to ABQ I heard this song in a country gay bar - that was years ago. Finally have my own copy now. Great song and my friends all love it. Now live in South America. Nothing like Alberquerque.

  • First time I ever heard this song and I really love it. Thanks for posting it.

  • All of y'all are killin' me! Isn't funny that we from ABQ are the only ones that can spell the name of our City? I grew up in Corrales and used to look out my window and see the diamonds. Missouri sucks! Who can still remember sittin' on the Sandias and watchin' the sun come over us to light the city? Hell! I'd give $100.00 to the first soul to tell me where "Dune Buggy Hill" was.

  • greatest sight to see coming over the nine mile hill

  • i was born in Albuquerque. but ill be moving to indiana. And even though ill be living up in indiana Albuquerque will always be my home

  • Does anybody know if this is available on cd or mp3?

  • It's not Jim Glaser but a singer named Pat Duran does the song and can be downloaded from I-tunes

  • @rephep1 Jim Glaser's version is on The Man In The Mirror

  • @aljbolin It is on cd/tape, very hard to find (got it though) - check out Jim Glaser's site.

  • I was stationed at Kirtland AFB 1987-1992...I still miss the lights

  • I have lived in Albuquerque for 49 years, and there is nothing in this world like The Lights of Albuquerque. My husband used this song last tour in Iraq, and he uses it again this time. THE LIGHTS OF ALBUQUERQUE

  • @susie6062 May Allah make them his last words

  • What a talent! Absolutely love Jim's voice! Could listen and watch all day long.

  • Beautiful voice........

  • I love it!

  • Different version from Billy Mize's

  • Missing New Mexico...and missing Perla

  • I dream of living in Albuquerque. This is one of my favorite songs. It reminds me of D. We danced to this great song and I fell in love with him.

  • Great song and fabulous work by Jim and his band -- I dip my hat to you all -- great work -- I know a lot more about America now !!

  • I live here in ALBUQUERQUE in a house looking the city over. Please dont think I am bragging It is beautiful (NORM)

  • During my eight years in the military, 1965 to 1973, I flew into Albuquerque many times. My home is in Farmington, 180 miles NW, still, when I saw the "lights of Albuquerque", I felt as if I was home. The lights of Albuquerque will always be beautiful.

  • Great song, reminds my dad of coming into Albuquerque from 9Mile hill and the light's!

  • I remember hearing this song as my sis. was flying into ABQ, N.M. in '90She flew in from Helsinki,Finland. after visiting Moscow, Russia Soviet Union at the time. She was gone for 3 months to represent our beloved USA for Track and Field. It was an emotional welcome home deal. Make a long story short, her and her friends waited 4 hours to get a Big Mac at McDonalds in Moscow!

She got me some t-shirts. One was a Hard Rock Cafe in Moscow! I was so proud od her!!! I luv you sis.

  • I actually think thats how the Glaser Brothers(Tompall,Chuck and Jim) for their start was singing backup for Marty Robbins

  • One of my favorite singers! Love this song!

  • what a great song thank you for sharring it!

  • There will never be anybody like Jim Glaser...what a talent!

  • Dany

This song takes me back to 1986 when I was driving into Albuquerque from Nebraska to make a new life for myself and start a new job. I was alone then, just me and my black lab Molly. Now 23 years later I brought back a wife and our two sons who were born in that Diamond in desert.

  • proud resident ,find your way home my friend, i know how it feels to be away and only a kirkian would understand , and then again i dont even know ,its magic

  • very nice never heard of this singer before =anyone any info on him xx

  • Jim was a part of the Glaser Brothers. Tompall and Chuck, his brothers. From Nebraska. You can hear Jim singing on Marty Robbins record El Paso.

  • Jim has his own website with lots of information from him directly. He is also a great songwriter, along with his wonderful voice. Once you listen to him, you can't get enough!

  • I have not heard this song for many years.

It brings tears to my eyes.

A LOST LOVE ... in Albuquerque!

  • In the past couple of months, I have come across a cassette of Man in the Mirror and remember again why I loved Jim's music. I am a fan all over again. What an absolutely beautiful voice and I love watching him perform! I wish I had had the privilege of seeing him perform live. I wish there were more of him! I understand that someone out there has some more video of him performing...please post it!!

  • so good...

  • I was born in ABQ, and raised in Bosque Farms, I cannot believe how this song speaks to me, I split with my Wife right before coming here to Iraq, and all I think about is coming home to see it, and of course some Green Chile. For me its a happy, sad, and beautiful song.

  • Get home safe my friend - I miss Albuquerque too. We lived near Juan Tabo and Eubank for several years in the 90's - miss that green chile too! Need to go visit my friends in Veguita soon.

  • @AnPmechanicpilot

Well Said, great song. Im from El Paso Texas!!

  • @fpinon5150 missing el paso's east side hanging out in the desert by red sands

  • The Glasiers are great!

  • beutiful voice. HANDSOME MAN. A GENTLEMAN.

  • DITTO......OH YEAH.....

  • Oh Yeah. I have great memories of dancing to this song at Ruby's Honky Tonk in the mid 1980s. Now I'm in Sunless Seattle, and really missing the Lights of Albuquerque, and the sunlight of New Mexico. My heart is still there!

  • I left NM three years ago. For all you "old school" country folks - I was voted ABQ's number 1 club disc jockey back in '94. The best segue was from "Amarillo by Morning" into "Lights". God bless y'all who remember me from Sundance Saloon and the ill fated Midnight Rodeo. Git along lil dogies! I miss y'all! Chris

  • This song always brings me back to my sweet NM. It seems that I hear it on one of the 4 FM stations every time I'm heading into 'Burque' from the east mountains. I only wish I could find a copy of this cd.

  • The very best! I stumbled on a cassette of man in the mirror many years ago. I went right back and bought all they had gave them out to all my closest friends.Later my little sis got me the cd.I've been teaching people to dance over 20 years now and Jim's songs are my favorite. If she would only dance with me is my favorite of all time. How can something that great go so unnoticed?

  • one of the alltime best singers only wish i could find more of his music

  • Try Amazon or ebay...I'm sure you will find Jim's music for sale there.

  • I haven't been home for over 4 years now and it's harder still to be away during the holidays when everyone is eating Posole, tamales, pinon (pine nuts)and stuffed sopapillas. Not to mention the Luminaria tours. I miss home so much this time of year. Thanks for posting this vid. Viva Nuevo Mexico!

  • Awesome for the song and great voice. The purity of the vocals is phenomenal. Awed by the performance. Greatful it was recorded.

  • New Mexico is where the real cowboys are at

  • Thanks for the video, I have always loved this song, I'm not from New Mexico, but lived in El Paso Tx. manny years ago, it was always such a great song. I love it! Thanks for bringing back good memories.

  • Yeah..if you are not from New Mexico you can't really appreciate it this song. The lights of Albuquerque truly are a sight to behold. They are so beautiful. They used to play this song at a place called "Midnight Rodeo" THE best country bar in town at one time (Long gone) when we heard it..we knew the bar was closing.I have lived in Albuquerque for most of my life and we are preparing to move away.My 5 year old loves this song. Makes me sad to think this will make him homesick when he hears it.

  • Love, love, love this song...takes me way back but still hypnotizes me even now.

  • Yeah my comment got goofed up. I just shed a tear when I hear this song about my beloved hometown. Folks carted me to California when I was 4. I never made it back home. To those that don't give a shit about New Mexico, oh well.

Thank's man for this video and all the comments from others who know New Mexico with affection as I do.

  • This song reminds me of listening to late night radio, with a live DJ and playing 33 & 45 records.

  • Always loved his music. One of those gems only us hard core country fans know about these days :)

  • WOW it is so awesome that someone put this on here! What a song

  • people need to put more jim glazer songs on youtube he is one of the best performers of all time!!! and his songs are hard to find anywhere

  • Looking at the city lights of Albuquerque atop 9 mile hill puts chills down your spine it is so beautiful...... Traveling always makes you appreciate home.. Love this song!

  • Amen! Now the best spot is where Los Volcanes turns into Rio Bravo...wow...we stopped one night so I could jump out and grab something from the back. I had never seen the view from up there. Holy Cow. I stood there and watched for about 15 minutes. Mesmerizing.

  • Absolutely great song. Having lived in Albuquerque, actually Rio Rancho for close to 10 years I can appreciate this song. Not to mention the music itself is pleasing to listen to. This is definatly a home spun song that only new mexicans can appreciate. Now that I live in Apache Junction, Arizona, I appreciate it even more. As glad as I was to leave New Mexico, my pay doubled here, I do miss the culture and some of the people. I miss making movies there as a background artist.

  • Awesome performance and exactly like the studio version. I've played this at dances and people love the song even in Texas.

Glasers are the best and Jim is a personal favorite of mine.

  • Does anybody outside of New Mexico really give a shit abouthis song? I remember hearing it played on some station in Bremerton Washington, and people looked at me like I was nuts for making a big deal out of a song that none of them knew or cared about. It was then that I knew that I'm from a strange place.

  • I live the the Albuquerque area, and when I see the lights from the interstate, I know I am home again

  • Great Stuff thanks for the Video. Can any one put up the man in the mirror by Jim Glasser ? Always loved that song. Thanks, Ed in Tampa

  • Absolutely beautiful song by a great, soft voice - always have enjoyed all of the Glasers music. This is really beautiful - thanks for sharing this clip here.

  • Jim Glazer at his best. Wonderful. Thanks for posting this clip.

    Babs

  • They play it on 860 AM KARS almost every night around 11

  • It's amazing how an occasional beautiful song escapes widespread attention. What a stunning performance by an exceptional singer/songwriter!

  • Christmas Eve...i was 8 years old....my dad and brothers and i went to the top of sandia crest to look out at the city, this song came on the radio....that is one memory i will treasure forever.

  • GREAT SONG, BEAUTIFUL MAN!

  • Beautiful song.

The first song I remember when I first moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico. I heard it on the radio as a small child of seven. These days while I'm still living in Albuquerque, It's never played or I never hear being played over the radio.

    Good Memoria!

  • I am a trucker, there used to be a country station out of Albuquerque that used to play it just about every night i trucked through there. Always loved that song.

  • Excellent voice. You can tell the Glazers put everything into their singing.

  • This is worth 5 stars easily. This 'live' performance is as good as the record which was fantastic as well.

  • I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it.

My wife and I got to see Jim perform in a small club in 1986 or 87. We got to meet him briefly after the show and got an album autographed by him with our names. He was very friendly.

Too bad his solo career didn't work out because he's got an incredible voice.

  • This is a great song which deserved to go far higher in the Billboard Country chart. It only reached number 40 and this must rank alongside the Marie Celeste and Bermuda Triangle as one of life's great mysteries. Jim was great with his brothers and solo.

I remember seeing this Opry show on TV at some unearthly hour where he did a great Marty Robbins tribute and sang this great song.

  • I have had the pleasure of meeting Jim. He's a great talent and has a superb voice. Great clip!

  • I had the opportunity to see Jim in concert in 84 and got to talk with him afterwards. What a great voice and a really nice, down to earth guy. His " Man In The Mirror " album is one of the best Country albums ever made. I believe that Jim was the very first artist to score a #1 song while being on an independent lable. He was on Nobile Vision records at the time.

  • Had the privilage of seeing The brothers at Southport (Enland) many moon's ago, just started to realise Jims input into the group.

Thought I would never see them again, thanks for the vid.

  • Its a great song. Very lonely song. Having driven in Abq at night many times he describes it well. You come over the hill and look down on the city. Its a sprawled city not large in population but large in land area. It does have a look about it.

  • Thanks for posting this, Jim is one of my favorite people! I've watched it 5-6 times already, and it really touches my heart. (I'm a fan of "road songs")
